Why I do NOT recommend Meepo boards anymore!

I’m not gonna lie I must be one of the lucky customers to buy from meepo because my board only took a week to ship and it’s still running great with no problem and I’ve had it for almost 9 months almost 2000miles on it. Love meepo❤

I know this one was not listed, but I bought a mini 5 ER about 4 months ago and have been using it for my daily commute with no issues. Im upgrading to the 105mm wheels for some extra stability, but so far, I've had a great experience. That being said, I do appreciate these videos and watch as many as I can to educate myself on issues that people are having or sounds they heard before a major part failure. Most of my commute is in traffic, and the last thing I need is the truck breaking or wheel seperating 😅 Thanks for the informative video!

Wish I had seen this before I bought my Envy. I got a motor squeak after just 16 miles. I did a back and forth with Meepo and they gave me the run around. They said "send a video," then "your belts are too tight" I send them a video with belts completely loose and then they say "your belts are too loose, have a nice day".... I feel like them saying have a nice day at the end of that email was their way of saying F-Off. 😢

😔😔 that sucks. What does the squeak sound like? (I know you said squeak 😂😂) but mine was a rattle that sounded like something metal was loose in the rear truck. Turns out in my case it was the arm that holds the wheel on… I’d suggest disassembling everything and checking everything is as it should be. And if you can’t solve it, or are worried about it, try sell it and get something else. Your safety is THE most important thing. If you’re worried, and don’t trust your board, don’t risk riding it.

This was the email I sent them the second time to show the belts are not too tight. It makes the same sound with no belts as well. It's one of the motors I suppose. It seems plenty safe though, I was just disappointed with their bad customer service.

Thanks! I appreciate the support. I've no interest in reviewing products I don't believe in. If I think something is good I'll say so. But if it's let me down, then it's only fair I say that too. Most of these Meepos have let me down one way or another, and that truck breaking was just NOT safe... Despite their assurances otherwise.

My own V5 has been flawless but I don't use it to commute on. There is always a failure risk on trucks built in this way due to the constant vibration and environmental conditions they are used in. I believe Exway trucks to be better as they are CNC machined. I would personally never ride a board that's making a weird noise. Rule one in cycling/motorcycling: if it's making a different/strange noise, don't ride it until you have solved the problem. Meepo were really unhelpful in that I feel. I hope you have a new board soon. I really enjoy your Vlogs :)

Thanks for watching. Yeah, I wish I didn’t have to make this video… but because I’ve reviewed these boards on my channel and recommended them. I think it’s important that people know what my experience has been. I hope you never have any issues with your Flow and you keep enjoying it. But that truck snap was scary, and they assured me it was safe. So that’s why I’m done. But I hope yours stays solid. Please wear protective gear though when you’re on it. Like, I’d recommend protective gear anyway, but that goes double for Meepo now! 😔

I attempted to purchase a board from them earlier in march and omg it was such an ordeal. For 2 months almost 3 I could not get them to be transparent about when it would be shipped out. They had canned responses and did not communicate at all unless I reached out, which resulted in me cancelling my order altogether. I think I definitely dodged a bullet. It sucks because Meepo is a staple in this industry and I was very excited to be able to own one. However its clear that customer service and quality has declined. I get that there are exceptions and lots of people have had great experiences. Lately though there are more negative experiences and lackluster quality and service seemed ro have emerged as the rule for Meepo. Im hoping to see them turn it around.

Same! I’d love to see them improve their quality. Both in terms of overall build quality with their products, and communication with customers. They had a reputation for very poor customer service a few years ago. Then things seemed to have improved. But now it appears as though they have gone backwards again. It’s a terrible shame, because I loved using Meepo when I had confidence in those boards

i bought the Meepo V3 from facebook marketplace and its great the person change it to a belt system and i had 4 days ridening on it without any problems, one day i was going down a hill and notice the board shecking a lot but i just kept going once i got to the lights i notice that the back tracks is off the board, the bolt that holds the axil wheels to the track just came off. Now i'm just selling the skateboard, i was lucky that did not happen going fast or down hill or even on the street.

Nice. Longboarding is a LOT of fun. I use my electric skateboards for commuting in and out of work. I just use my boosted now, and I’ve an electric scooter I use if it’s raining. Cause I want to keep my boosted for as LONG as possible. So I’m trying to not use it in wet conditions.

When I got into electric skateboards 2 years ago I did a lot of research before I bought my first board. There was something about Meepo that just told me they were the budget brand trying to break into the bigger side. At the time they had just started the Hurricane akd everything else offered was very lackluster on battery, power, and just overall form and finish. I am curious about that new racing board that just came out from Meepo with that new truck design...... But that has truly been the only board they have made that is grabbed my attention enough to want to research more about it outside of just what you see on the surface.

I remember when the hurricane came out, and shortly after there was a big noise about trucks breaking too. I’ve since become friends with someone who that happened to! I must check out their new racing board to see what it’s offering. I don’t know if an all new truck design is a good thing or a bad thing where Meepo is concerned 😅😅

just yesterday i have the same truck snapping issue on my voyager which i have had for 3 months and put 2200km on it i did also have issues with snapping belts at the start i snapped 6 sets of belts in 700km then i decided that was enough and bought eboardstuff lifetime belts and i put them on at 800 and they are still flawless, i have contacted meepo and have not heard anything back yet although i do live in Canada so there is the time zone difference

Oh that sucks. Sorry to hear your truck also broke. Yeah, the guys at eboardstuff are heroes!! They saved my Boosted recently. In fairness to Meepo they usually responded to me within about 24 hours cause of the time difference. I hope they sort you out and get you going again.

@@ronanhutchinson yea but as you mentioned idk if i can trust it anymore, also leading up the the snap there was no signs of anything wrong, no grinding or rattling sounds, no weird movement at high or low speed, nothing it just snapped when i hit a fairly small bump for my area

@@ronanhutchinson the only thing i can think of is when Meepo refreshed the voyager they may have slightly changed the truck design which they then used on the envy, my friend has the older gen voyager and he rides it harder than me and has more km and he has not had this issue, he also did not have the belt snapping issue

That’s very strange that there were no rattles or anything. I’d say there was some kind of a defect in the truck from the beginning. They may have changed the truck, or you might have just been really unlucky with yours. But I totally understand what you mean about not trusting it. My issue with Meepo wasn’t so much about the truck breaking, but that they didn’t care enough to investigate it after I said it. I only use my Boosted board now.

@@ronanhutchinson yea i think since I'm still under warranty if meepo doesn't want to replace it then I'm just got to sell it to my friend for parts and buy another board, and if they do replace it ill use it and if it then breaks again ill get rid of it. i love the voyager for it power and range but i cannot have it falling apart and causing danger to me and potentially other people as well

To be honest with you, I don’t know if it could happen on the V4S… I knew I had a problem with my Envy before the truck broke because it was making a terrible rattle when I was riding. Meepo claimed that was normal, but then the truck broke, so I’ve stopped using my Meepos. But if you’re not hearing any bad rattles from the trucks / motor assembly, hopefully you’ll be ok.

@funnyfish9360 yeah, I’d always recommend checking nuts and bearings are all ok every once in a while anyway. But definitely keep a good eye on it. Given you’ve already put a lot of miles on it already, hopefully you’ll be ok.

I got a meepo shuffle v4s er for $200 I plan to use it around campus i also plan on buying a used wowgo 2 s max this weekend for my girlfriend it's sad to hear ur board didn't hold up. So far there's 800 miles on the meepo so it seems to be holding up nicely

Interesting! I have Envy too, as my first Esk8, for a few months now and with 550 km on it, and so far its all ok. First belts made like 300km and second ones are still fine-ish.

Great video I must say I have threemeepo boards and two backfire boards and one onboard kick tail board The only problem I had with a Markal board was the original drop-down deck board, and for some reason, it just stopped and threw me off Other than that, I have no complaints except for the scars on my elbows

I bought a meepo mini and one wheel motor keeps make a ticking noise and meepos customer service said "that noise is part of the board and safe to ride" I am currently trying to sell it because I don't feel safe on it. I wish they would be more honest about keeping us safe when we bring up a concern about their product.

Aw sorry to hear that! I totally understand how you feel. Once you lose that confidence in the board it’s hard to keep riding it. I agree completely with what you’re saying about their customer service saying the boards are safe. If they said “we need to investigate this and you need to send the board back to us” I’d be happier. Because then you’d feel like they’re actually trying to make sure their boards are safe.

I haven’t heard of anyone else I know having that issue with trucks on the Envy. But Meepo trucks have been known to break like that in the past. I know someone whose front truck snapped on their Meepo Hurricane a few years back.

I just got a meepo v3s that doesn't take charge..its just stuck on O% i only paid 40 bucks and the rest of the board seems like its in good condition. Im wondering if there are any upgrades that would make ot better and stronger per say.

I'm completely new at Esk8 and was trying to decide between the V5 and paying a little more for a Wowgo 3E for my first board. I went with Wowgo and have had no issues after 200 miles so far. Glad I went with the belt drive Wowgo for my first board. Did you personally buy all 4 meepo boards or were they sent free for review? and if bought, why stay with a defective brand?

Glad to hear your WowGo hasn’t given any trouble. I bought the first board and the other three were sent for review. To be fair, the V4S they sent me never gave me any trouble, it just didn’t meet the advertised range at all. So I was happy to try out the V5 and the Envy. By the time it gave any issues I already had the envy and was using it. My initial impressions of all those boards was they were great. But over time I lost confidence in their reliability, and more crucially, their safety. Particularly on the more powerful ones. That’s why I made this video.

What scares me is my envy just started making that rattle sound after I put the geardrive kit on the meepo envy. Now I'm very very concerned that a similar thing will happen. I'm looking into fully CNCed trucks to make sure no funny business happens with sudden breaks.............

@@ronanhutchinson What sucks even more is i just healed up from a broken elbow after getting almost 1000miles on the envy in 6 months, but was leaning too far forward on a steep hill that was rough pavement and the board got a little wheel chatter/drift and it tripped me and i broke elbow. But now seeing that EXACT sound in your video that my board has been making, concerns me so much so I won't RIDE RIDE that deck until I get new trucks.

Any recommendations for battery life and just plan reliability? I use the board a lot would like one with bigger all terrain wheels

@datsdylan007 to be honest, I’m not sure. I use a Boosted board now. I’m actually running 80mm wheels on it 😅 they’re pretty expensive even now, and the batteries can give a fair bit of trouble. I think Exway look like they have some seriously good options. But I’ve never actually used one myself. So I don’t know how good they actually are.

Hey thanks for watching. Sorry to hear that they aren’t being helpful. That’s what it was like for me with my V3… if they won’t replace the esc, you could try bringing it to an electrical repair shop to see whether they can get it working? Or you could try sell it for parts and buy a new board

Thanks for the tip. I prefer longboard style boards that have some flex in the deck. But I also still don’t trust those trucks… I’d rather try a different brand altogether at this stage. Just had too many things go wrong.

Hey. Thanks for watching. The only other boards I’ve tried are Maxfind and Boosted. I really love my Boosted Board. But they’re very expensive, and you have to buy them second hand… Maxfind are really nice too. They have some good boards on offer. I also really like the boards Exway have right now. They look great, but I’ve never tried Exway.

Hi 👋🏻 from Dublin. I’ve never used WowGo. But I’ve never heard of anyone complaining about them either, so they’re hopefully pretty decent. Tynee are another company who make some pretty nice longboards and seem to be decent too. They’re worth checking out. If you’re looking to buy either, I’d recommend a quick search online to see what other users are saying about them.

If I may suggest, I recommend the Tynee company. I had no problems with my Tynee Mini 2 (2 years old and 3000 km now), my Ultra (longboard style) and my Explorer (All-terrain moard). A very great company in my book.
