Using the stamper only is all about the angle of entry you don't go straight in you get much smoother results if you go in at a sharp angle, also it prevents puncturing your stamper. Also stamper only works great with gel bc it's thicker and no timing issues. I love that there are so many ways to achieve the same thing, it's great 👍

Probably just a matter of preference, but the stamping "hack" is quick and easy. It's also fun to get weird with mixing up colors in different ways. And? All you need is a cheap stamper. No need to buy plates. I have a stamper dedicated for it. Never put a hole in it. Lol.
@JilliesNails

I’m sure it is a matter of preference. No need to buy 1 $7-8 plate? Come on now. Minuscule investment that you can use forever, with zero risk of putting a hole in the stamper. You can also mix colors, do marbling, ombres, chrome stamping, and more on the plate. For me, the plate makes nicer lines and looks a lot more professional. 😁

I'm glad you showed different techniques. I haven't tried the stamper method but I think the designs on the plate would be so much easier to do and it looks much better. TFS!

I agree with you, I think that the stamping method is better. We tried this on my besties nails with the stamper and while it worked it seemed to take longer to dry, IMO. And I did feel like I was using twice as much polish to get the effect it needed

Great to know! I suspected the stamper would be damaged as well. Especially as my nails can be quite sharp at times. I think ill still give it a go maybe with one of my cheaper less favourite stampers

I have played around a bit while wearing long coffin gel tips and had no issued with damaging the stamper - i think it is less likely to happen than when just pushing a tip into it as your fingertip gives a bit of a cushion and your angle of approach is different. RIP your stamper! I have murdered several stamping on stilettos 😁
@JilliesNails

You are very correct! A person might be able to feel the pressure better and run less of a risk to their stamper. I was thinking about it more today too, and that monocle stamper was VERY squishy. It might just be too soft for it. I bet the ice cube stamper is better since it's A LOT more firm than the monocle!

I feel exactly the same way. I use Moyra gel stamping polish so I don't have to be in a hurry, but knowing your tools is #1, whatever you use. I absolutely think you use less product with stamps and you get a paper-thin application - no dips or bumps on the free-edge like you would with the "dipping" technique and even hand panting can be a bit thick too.
@JilliesNails
@JilliesNails 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! The thickness was kind of just icky!I have a few of the uber chic stamping polishes. I can see how they are useful in a salon, but outside of a salon they are kinda meh for me too. They're messier in my opinion, I ALWAYS get gel everywhere when I stamp with it!

I'm new nail art period and I laughed the minute you said someone said it only worked with their brand. I started out doing nail stuff with variety of brands from kits I had just bought to stuff I already have and I have mixed and matched so many things 😅
@JilliesNails
@JilliesNails 2 жыл бұрын
She sure did try to claim it only worked with HER brand of stamping polish. I almost said something on the page, but I thought, I’m not going to change any minds, so I stayed quiet until I made this. I say be very very wary of ANY brand who claims “only their” polish works for a technique. Such a lie! I won’t buy from that brand. Ever.

With the stamps, maybe you're using gel polish? Or a very light/fluid nail polish? Because you get the best results with a thick non gel nail polish. Also don't scrape too hard. I paint my base with gel than stamp with a thick opaque regular nail polish and works wonderfully, the good thing is that if you mess up the stamping you can take it off with acetone, re-do it and the base will remain intact, it just takes the shine off but after you apply top coat that's taken care of. 👍
@JilliesNails
@JilliesNails 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ruth, I'm using a stamping polish in both situations. It is a thick regular polish. I researched it before I made the video. I'm scraping just fine thanks. I've been stamping for about 5-6 years now. I prefer the stamping method versus the glob it on a stamper method.

I got the powder in neons they are very pigmented I got deep blue all over my thumb and by accident hit my finger on the blue and left a perfect thin french tip 😂!! I finished my design with blue tips and came out amazing!!! Also I got the holographic neon powders on Temu it glows in the dark too it comes with like 10 or so neon colors are beautiful and cost I think 2$!!!

I haven't tried the stamper tictock method, or the stamper plate method. I just do freehand. Those large open spaces on that stamping plate are intimidating. I haven't much practice with those. I pick easy things and move on and then envy those more difficult manis and nail arts you do. I like how crisp and even the lines are on the stamping plate method. If you've seen my instagram, you'll notice I rarely do french tips 'cause I pick easy things and move on... lol.

When I first saw this I couldn’t believe that it was being called a hack bc imo hacks are supposed to be easier, and the results 😩 Before the negative space images became so popular I would just use nail vinyls. I’m too anal to use the so called hack bc I like my French manis even 🤣

I feel like it's SO much harder to get an even application with this trick. Some spots were super thick, some lifted off or were uneven. At least with stamping I can troubleshoot a bit better. I mean, it's an OK technique, I just think stamping is easier, and most people already have the stuff!
@catinabox3048
@catinabox3048 2 жыл бұрын
It's still a hack because it allows people like me who have a stamper but no French tips stamping plates to still experiment with a French manicure without buying new things. Stampers are also slightly easier to clean than stamping plates. No need to worry about acetone getting on your fresh manicure.

Hi Jillie 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾, how are you? I was starting to wonder “ where’s Jillie”? I was so happy to see a notification pop up saying you posted a video . I agree, I can’t help it we agree on a lot of things😉. When I first saw this hack I was like “cool”. However, there is no way I’m ruining my stamper, no way. P.S, I’m sorry for your stamper. The things you sacrifice for YT 😢 but if you pIan on getting a new stamper try the shrinking stamper from Maniology. I don’t use it for shrinking but the clear stamper is so firm, it’s great for straight lines. Enough rambling, back to the main topic 🔙⏪⏮. Me: sorry for changing the subject🤷🏾‍♀️ Myself:😡 Me: don’t be mad, we’re one. Me and you, you and me both of us together 😄 Myself: just stop 😬, your not funny. Ok, where was I before I rudely interrupted myself 🤔. Oh yes🤪, I don’t see the point when I have a plate that does the same thing. I’m not hating on the concept, like it said it’s pretty cool but stamping is easier.

Hi hi lovely lady! I'm doing alright! You? I'm here. I'm always here, even if I am not posting. Truthfully, it's been a rough year for me health wise, so I am struggling to stay on top of filming and working full time. This video was ready for Tuesday, and my PC just...lost it. Spent 24 hours searching every nook of the PC, but it was gone...so I had to edit it again. I'm not happy over the stamper, but I should have used the old one when trying something new! It will still be useable, I'm just going to have to work around the hole. (Pssssst, my checkbook is the real sacrifice for the channel LOL. Which will be discussed soon!) I still have a pile of stampers, so luckily, I won't have to replace it right now. The stamper is so much easier and likely to give you a better result. I think I feel like the trick pressing it in a guessing game as to whether or not you will get a good look.
