Her Dad got 62 million for that company in 1987. Not sure how his investments went, even though it was a lot of money in the 80s, it wasnt billions. The company as it sits today has grown by buying competition and mergers. Good for her dad, crushed it in the 70s and 80s.

I was about to say...SAIA isn't as big as Swift or some others, but I think it has it's largest presence in the Southwest. However, she said that their family *used* to own it. So it's likely that the size it boasts now isn't due to her family, but to the people who bought the company. Still a neat little tidbit!

@@AaronGeller yes it doesn’t automatically make you rich to have family members who are tied in. My family was rich in oil and racing and owned several regional stations, but by the time it reached down to the grandkids after paying out what was owed, taxes on a selfmade company and lots of other things, you put it together and it’s a few thousand to the grandkids. I hope others are more lucky but just bc there’s an M on the paper for millionaire, it doesn’t mean that’s what is flowing to the family. Just a matter of perspective. @@Magda_7396My parents also have an age gap and they had a rocky relationship based on other differences. But kids never really made much of a comment other than “is that your dad or your grandpa”. Then an awkward “oh..” right after. Adults still ask me that even now. It was more the adults who made things awkward in public than anyone else. Along with my parents being stuck in older mindsets (more traditional) at times and other times being more open. Just always put your kids first. Always be open to hearing them out - as they evolve with the times faster than you. You won’t always understand each other. So cherish the years you do have together, as they’ll also be losing you sooner - don’t hold that over them either. You’ll be fine

@@Magda_7396 my dad is quite older than my mom so here’s my advice: don’t be scared about the future. focus on the present moment and making memories with your kids! that’s all that matters. no one knows what the future holds, which is why you should make the most of the present. but I will say that both you and your partner should take care of your health, eat clean, workout often, and keep your brain sharp so that you can ensure the most time possible with your kids. when I was in high school, my dad was in his 60s and my mom was in her 50s, yet they looked and acted younger than most of my friends parents (some of whom were literally in their 30s…) so no one knew unless I told them lol. even as a kid, my parents had the stamina and energy to play around with me while some younger parents didn’t. That's because they were both ✨ adults ✨. Being a child/teen with an adult is entirely different and is disgusting and should never work out, will never work out. No matter how "happy" a 60 year old and a 90 year old would be if they met at 16 and 46, it's disgusting and the older partner is a predator. I'm happy for your parents. I'm happy they also met when they were adults. It's entirely different when they meet when one is younger. We don't hate age gaps between adults. Age gaps between adults are not the problem.

I relate to her because as a 6' 2" white dude with blond hair and blue eyes I grew up on the border. My first day care was in Matamoros, Mexico. I'm fluent almost like she is, I've had jobs teaching safety classes in Espanol. I consider myself only 70% fluent. But I get around well. I grew up with first generation Mexican friends who were born here and witnessed many of the interactions she details in her videos with my (still, lifelong friends) and pretty much every word she's says is true. The culture clash can be and is usually hilarious. She's got an incredible personality, funny as all get out.

Let me tell you about culture clash. Its not something to joke about! Culture clashes can cause a lot of drama. Imagine being Mexican/American and marrying a completely Anglo American of German/Irish/French/English descent. They do not fully understand our culture and think of a lot of things within our family dynamics as oppressive because of it. My moms side of the family came from Zacatecas, Mexico. My husband and I struggled to make it work and break away from some of the old traditions while still maintaining some of them. We've been married since 1994 and have 2 sons. My Mexican mom was very traditional, our family was very tight knit, and I am so grateful for my upbringing. She had trouble letting us go as we grew up. To this day I find myself being very much like her. I used to joke about how she seemed like a smother mother. She always kept a short leash on all 4 of us and was loving and protective. She was fiesty and energetic. She perfected homemaking. My mom passed away in September from Cancer after struggling for 4 long years. My dad is doing ok. Cherish your parents and be proud of everything you are and what you have.
