Honestly I like hearing about peoples "older" favourites. everyones always trying the new stuff but when it's still a favourite after a year, you know it's a good product. I have all the makeup I need, so I'm not in a rush to buy more. with complexion products, I already have my favourites that I'll repurchase. For eyeshadow, I have enough that I can realistically do any look I want, though I'll definitely repurchase blueberry muffin and passion in Paris. But I do want to try colourpop and juvias next time at some point, but that doesnt need to be right now or any time soon.

I totally agree. It is easy to be excited about products that are shiny and new. The novelty will always pull you in. But if someone still likes something a year after a release, you know it is a quality product that is worth buying.

I am open to a friend’s suggestion, because I know them and I can see IRL their makeup looks. I am also open to suggestion from someone like Angie, where I may not see her IRL, but I can trust her advice. A lot of her suggestions are items I love and would suggest to my friends. But what is the rush of you love what you have? We can always enjoy things from afar.
@Acidfunkish3 жыл бұрын
I love this. 👍🏻 I know they don't spark as much interest, especially in comparison to "new" product reviews and etc. I get that. But even a monthly favs list doesn't necessarily tell you how certain products perform versus, say, even last month's favourites. As a recent example, the ABH cream bronzer was one of Angie's favs from last month, but she didn't say how it compared to the Colourpop one which was a fav from a couple months ago. It wasn't until a recent video that she mentioned she's been loving it, and using it over everything else (except maybe the Milk one). If you miss a GRWM, you might miss little things like that. And you shouldn't have to watch literally every video a creator makes just to get basic info like that, IMO. I'd prefer to see these things quarterly, too. Like, "Products I'm actually using and loving, this quarter." Which ones are being used, not solely to review, but because you actually adore them. But, unfortunately, everything on KZbin is about the new. That's how you get views, so that's what creators create.

this many sound really strange but as an American who's been watching you for years and gotten used to you being a Swedish based KZbinr, in a weird way I'm kind of excited for your move to the USA. (NOT because I'm one of those people who's like "USA is number 1! lol.") mainly I'm just really curious to see what kind of changes you go through living in another country for a few years, and hearing about your hot takes and perceptions of this country as someone who's not from it, and watching you evolve and adapt to living in a new country with a different way of life then your own. idk, as someone who's just really into psychology and human behavior it just seems really fascinating to me and I look forward to that journey of yours lol.

I think in 2022 we’re going to see a bit more conscious consumerism. Less buying to have the latest and greatest and more finding the gems for our makeup wants and needs and highlighting them. While I’ve loved makeup ever since I was little I’ve only been in the YT beauty sphere for 2 years so a lot of “old” releases were new to me. So I’m all for you showcasing what you keep going back to in your collection.

This makes so much sense. I let go of the desire to try all the new things and just wait for things that really appeal to me. If everyone is hyping up a certain brand, I don't feel compelled to try it anymore if it doesn't fit into my curated aesthetic. As a youtuber, I get that there is a certain pressure to get new new new. But honestly, I am all here for being inspired by old favorites.

I agree with this. It’s like a surprise when a new Indy brand comes out with something so fantastic you try it ya know? Example is Kaleidos and Alien … I keep my eye on them because I love their products. Not everything is for me. I know what you are a saying.
@Taleneki3 жыл бұрын
I got you. Being loyal to a brand that has proven itself worthy by being consistent is the rational thing to do imo. Bh, Lethal and Kaleidos are those brands for me. The one brand I've been eyeing for years now and will finally try upon restock is Menagerie. Their new indigo ink palette really draws me in with its unique colour story.
@ccl61923 жыл бұрын
I just recently got that one on their Black Friday launch event. Those shimmery shifty shades are so so so pretty and the mattes are pigmented AF but blend out smoothly without any patchiness. Love their formula so much. The color story is super different but I am rarely a one palette lady so I always mix and match. Often 2-3 for one look. Don’t let the weird combos scare you away. They play so nicely with so many of my other pallets Just have to watch o out for staining and use a heavy duty primer because of the pressed pigments. Really that’s the only negative I’ve seen with any of their shadows

I tried Viseart this year and fell down a whole rabbit hole 🤣 Thanks to their Christmas releases, I have constructed my ultimate blue/green palette and I can't stop swatching it 🥰 This is definitely the best formula, for my particular skin and at this particular time in my life. They also gave me my ultimate purple palette and my ultimate everyday pallette. They have proven themselves to me. It feels freeing to not worry about trying new brands and just pick from the Viseart releases that tickle my fancy. I am a loyal customer for sure.

This makes absolute total sense to me, & I relate so much to what you’re saying here.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻As much as I have a running “mental list” of brands I’d like to try (mainly because I’m curious about different formulas), I realized that some of these brands have been on my “list” for 2-3 years now, yet I’ve still continued buying makeup from brands I already love because I know the products/formulas are tried-and-true & dependable in performance. It’s like forcing oneself to look for greener pastures when you know what you own is already next to perfect regarding your preferences/makeup needs. Metaphorically, it’s not to say that you can’t buy a bouquet of flowers to enjoy every once in a while to supplement your prize-winning rose garden, but one finds it’s not a necessity. 🍃🌹🌹🌹💕😊💐🍃🌹🌹🌹🍃

The only thing I really, really want, currently, is the GMG Bad Witch Club. 🤔 I bought Pastel Dreams ASAP, however, and it was $90 CAD! I just feel silly paying that much for a palette (but it's gorgeous). 🙁 There are a few other little things, from various brands, but nothing I'm "ready" to order. I'm loving the things I have! 👍🏻👍🏻 I really am! I have a beautiful collection of eyeshadows to play with, I've condensed my collection down a bit, recently, and I've tried all palettes (minus 3 very small things 😬). I'm loving my Juvia's Place 6-pans and all of my BH palettes. Getting a LOT of use out of them! Also still really trying out the Blend Bunny palettes (more so the Blends palette, as I've been testing everything out on my eyes, whereas with Surge, I've only tried a few). Not a fan of ALL of the shades, but they're mostly pretty good quality. I was able to toss my By Beauty Bay 42 Mattes, and that was why I bought the Blend Bunny palettes. But hearing a lot of people say that they were the "best mattes ever" left me a bit disappointed. I wish they wouldn't have been so over-hyped. They're solid, they're good, they mostly work (but some are kinda bad). If people would've said they were solid, good, even great, I wouldn't have been disappointed. But they said literally "best ever." 😬 I don't think that helps the brand, because it will inevitably disappoint some people.

We must be thinking on the same wavelength because I've been thinking about how I filmed that same video last year and how an update video would go. I feel as though it would be a blah update because I honestly didn't try most of the brands on my list for the very same reason you didn't try many of the ones on yours! Funny how that works. The ones I did try though are Lunar Beauty (with the release of the new Moon Spell 2 palette) and Kaleidos (your palette! 😀) Other than that, there really hasn't been anything trigger-worthy for me to take the plunge and buy it. Then again, over the past three months, I've maybe worn makeup a handful of times because I'm so busy and don't have time to play anymore.

There’s never really anything obligatory about trying a certain amount of brands or a certain number of things from each brand. You should review what you’re GENUINELY INTERESTED in. Staying current with variety is important, BUT so is the PERCEPTION of your audience that YOU are finding JOY in what you HAVE and DO. The presence OR ABSENCE of that JOY comes ACROSS to viewers.

Maybe an alternative, if you feel the same way next year, can be “X Brands I’ve got my eye on for 2023.” So it can be about brands that have perked your interest, that are doing interesting things, and that you’re watching, but without making the promise of yes I’m going to buy something from them this year. You can also do a video looking back like “X brands I tried in 2022.’

Natasha Denona and Charlotte Tilbury are brands where I love the eyeshadow(ND) and the lipsticks (CT) but I haven’t tried their other products. I think that’s where I am, I know I love a category from a brand, but I either haven’t tried or had bad results with their other categories.

For me , trying new makeup in general, usually comes more out necessity than anything else, like I haven't found yet a product that really suits me or that a product I like, it's not sold anymore. I personally don't have much need of trying new makeup for the sake of it, what I want products that work for me and I don't like to gamble with my money to try something that might or might not be good. With new brands it like that gamble was even bigger, so I'm even more catious.

What I like to do is when I like a palette I find one of your videos of that palette & this determines if I'm going to buy or not. That's my idea.

I love Natasha Denona & Pat Mcgrath. Some Milk products are great. I'm still learning about makeup. I'm 43. Don't judge. Lol. Wanting to try indie brands. Shopped Devinah for black friday. Gonna use it for the holidays :)

I really like this look too 😊 And this mentality makes a lot more sense to me

I make a makeup and skincare plan for the new year too. And I think next year I want to try more drug store. And brands that aren't necessarily at Ulta. Like Joah which is at CVS and there are a few at Target id like to try. Or get a few things from Shop Miss A.

I don't love everything from Charlotte but I love a lot, same with pat McGrath. I love everything I've tried from dior too but I haven't tried their eyeshadows and really have no desire to lol. I like indie eyeshadows most. In particular the club nebula is my absolute favorite palette ever so far 😍

I have quite a few brands that I love.... but I don't buy everything they release out of loyalty. Only the things that suit me. Trying to be a responsible human here! 😁

This coming year I want to try some indie brands, particularly Oden’s eye! Waiting for my new palettes to arrive in the mail👏. I love BH palettes, they are my favourites, but I hate paying the exchange and shipping to Canada.

I agree with you that it’s more fun to find a rare jewel, especially if it’s from an unexpected brand! It’s even better if a favorite brand releases a product that flies under the radar of other people. As far as loyalty goes, my collection is all over the place, lol! However, it’s a group of my holy grail items that I don’t often deviate from such as Stila’s Convertible Color cream blushes & their Stay All Day Smudge Stick eyeliners. They come in gorgeous colors & I’ve used both products for at least 7-8 years if not more. Next year will be interesting to see if you discover favorites from brands that you haven’t really been able to get your hands on in Sweden! You have enough on your plate so why add pressure in the one area of your life you love? Sending you both 🤗💜&🙏🏻 for a wonderful & Blessed Christmas week, plus kisses as always for ! 🦚-Rebecca

I have always been & most likely will always be loyal to UD Naked palettes. No, I don’t have all of them, but I always keep my eyes open for the next one I do want. I do really want the Naked Cyber palette just because I don’t have anything in my collection that I can say are duochromes & I don’t have easy access to most indy brands or can afford luxury brands that have them. Also very loyal to KVD Beauty before and after Kat sold the brand. I also started collecting ND mini palettes this year & very excited for the newest one to join the brand soon. Once I use the products from the brands I do own, I’ll be more open to try other brands.

I have a huge collection, but I need to slow down and love what I have. I do desperately want to try odens eye. I have so many Indy brands but there the only one I'm going to actively try to try.

I haven't been using make up for a long time, just a couple of years by now and even though I am not "loyal" loyal, I do find myself buying from CP, BH, Oden's Eye and Kaleidos more than from other brands, mainly due to after watching your videos among other ones. I just want to know whether or not they're worth it before I go ahead and spend all that money on the products and their delivery fees and possible additional taxes. But I do own maybe five or six Urban Decay's palettes and their eye primer, but I don't know whether that can be called loyalty as I don't buy everything that they come out with... Finding out new brands is exhilarating but most of the time I end up just saying I'm going to buy something from them but in reality I just forget their existence; the sheer amount of brands and make up products is just overwhelming and my interest lie more in books so I buy them more gladly than the other stuff.

Will you do a blog on how to move across the world?? You mentioned the chair not coming with you and now I'm wondering like, how do you pack?? what do you pack and what do you leave?!

My eyes & skin are so sensitive that I'm kind of forced into being loyal to brands & products with formulations that work well for me & are non irritating. I had to try so many eye primers & eye pencils it wasn't funny. And there are certain things I just can't do drugstore like eyeliner pencils & shampoo. Right now I have my go-to brands for eyeshadow (several of which are Indie) & I'm happy with that. I'm more interested in curating my collection & honing it down to just The Best For Me than I am in trying new brands & accumulating more products.

I'm over trying new stuff just to try it. I have some holes in my collection that I would like to fill but I'm not super into buying right now (not counting my black Friday shopping). So other than trying to find my holygrail foundation I'm okay. I know I'll probably buy from kaleidos and menagerie if they release stuff. But that's were I'm at.

This makes a lot of sense. I’m hoping that you’ll review some brands in 2022 that you couldn’t really get or get as inexpensively/easily when in Sweden. Instead of brands you are hoping to try, I’d be way more interested in something like the 5 Existing products that you would really like to still try.

I discovered a lot of brands through videos but at the end of the day there is a budget and a certain time, and trying stuff that you don't know it is for you is complicated. And after a while, you have a list of brands you trust so why risk on other brands, unless it something that truly get your attention? It happened to me for example with Sigma Cinderella, I knew their palettes were good but nothing of them truly got me until that palette. Right now the brands I got attached to are Kaleidos, Oden's and Natasha Denona, I mean those are the ones that I know if I kind of like their release, I will have to convince myself to not buy (for example the upcoming ND Retro I'm sure I'm likely going to have that one, or if she releases a midi gold) And I agree, when you feel it you get it. I think that's what happened with a lot of people with the Glossgods collection (me included) PS: I'm finally trying Lethal Cosmetics! I was ordering a hair mask on Douglas when I realiced they are also selling the brand (except the last multicrome release).

I love your videos, I really hope you love your move to Austin. Ive always wanted to live there, IM a couple hours away. I personally have bought so much make up this year .I'm definately gonna be on a low buy this year. I've bought like 10 ND pallets and only 1 of those was a mini and it was The mini love. I also got some of her oldies like Biba. ND is defiinately my favorite brand. I got ABH Soft glam, and also 2 Pat Mcgraths which I was so excited for but I was really disapointed in these pallets.I was expecting so much more from her at the price point and the rave reviews. I dont think Ill ever buy from her brand again, at least not her eyeshadow. Oh yeah I love sydney Grace too!

I want to try Alien/Unearthly so bad! Just waiting for one day they restock the serendipity palette...
