Flip phones are great! I'm a Japanese essayist. The name is Mikan Oshidari(忍足みかん🍊♥). I'm using a translation tool, so I'm sorry if my English isn't good. I published a book called [I want to stop being a slave to my smartphone]. As the title suggests, I was addicted to my smartphone, so I switched to a flip phone. It's all about mental health. Flip phones are comfortable. Smartphones are addictive. It's convenient, but painful. Smartphone addiction is [normal] for people these days, so people think I'm a weirdo or weirdo for using a flip phone. sad. I hope that flip phones will be reevaluated around the world and that smartphone addiction will be seen as a problem. Please feature flip phones again.

Don’t give up. Smartphones suck you in. There are other ways to keep up with things. We rely way too much on smartphones. It’s nearly impossible to do less on it. I can go through phases where I am doing great at minimizing apps on it and time spent on it and yet every time I look at it or because I have no choice but to use it because my husband is going to call or want me near it. I hate that phone. Society does force you to own one. But why should we conform to the world’s standards. When you use a flip phone it causes you to think for yourself and learn patience and to solve your own problems. There is nothing wrong with wondering about something and later finding out the answer and learning new roads is healthy for the brain. We will remember things more like dates or appointments because we’ll have to. Use your calendar. Create a system that works for you

I'm super addicted to my phone, and recently I dawned on me that addictions attract more addiction. For year I was addicted to porn, like casual porn , idk it you can call it that but just people going to town so I could get off and sleep lol. It's such a common thing and because so many do it I did too. Until I forced myself to stop masturbating. It still is super difficult but stopping porn even soft core Like girl in bikini dancing on Instagram. It's been a few months now, and I've gotten massive improvement in self control and feel more confident with energy, which is helping me deal with other issues like gaming eating my free time. I removed porn, gaming , masturbating, and like magic my health and focus is improving, I even read a book LOL, Haven't read a book since middle school for fun. Haha Now the biggest and hardest addiction I can't seem to shack is youtube, Instagram and my smart phone. It's annoying how what known to be worse addiction aren't as addictive as a smart phone. I've decided to get a flip phone just because I just don't have the self control to handle a smart phone yet. Funny enough, the smart phone is where I, game, watch porn to masturbate, and have my addictions. I don't smoke , drink or drugs. But my God the phone is just as additive and damaging. The phone is my worst enemy and such a powerful tool too

It has been about a month since I started using a Nokia 2720 Flip phone instead of the iPhone 6s that I have. It has been great so far. I have a lot more energy and my power of focus and concentration has increased significantly. I have been reading a lot more and exercising more often. In my case though, I did not completely get rid of the iPhone 6s. I still use it when I am traveling and need to use maps, or when there is another situation where I need to use a smart phone. My plan and rule of thumb is to use my dumb phone about 80% of the times, and give the remaining 20% to my smart phone. I am in front of the computer a significant amount of hours due to my main job and my Amazon business, therefore anything I need to do on a smart phone I can do it on a laptop. Thanks for the video.

Okay! Here is the way you can have the best of both worlds. GET THE "CAT S22 FLIP" PHONE!!! It is a physical flip phone with a tiny 2.8 inch screen that is a touch screen that works on a stripped down version of Android 11. It gives you a feel of a dumb phone but if you really need the basics of a smartphone in a pinch, you have it. Because the screen is so tiny you will be less likely to watch movies or play games on it, yet if you really need it in a pinch, you could make due with the small screen and do what you need to like you would with a regular smart phone. The thing is fully water proof and built like a tank also! I use it as my EDC phone and have a second phone that is a Galaxy under a cheap unlimited data plan as my back up phone I call my "Home Number" that I go to part time if I need to something that is a bit higher tech in certain situations for today's living. But here is the best part of the CAT S22!!! RIGHT NOW, IT IS GOUNG FOR UNDER $70 brand new and unlocked on AMAZON!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘

Awesome video! I really liked what you mentioned towards the end regarding how consumers (Apple, Samsung, LG, etc.) gave the opportunity to choose the smartphone, and the consumers chose it. The smartphone unfortunately has become a big marketing tool for companies because of this. Therefore, it is becoming harder and harder to do certain things (like pay for parking, accessing a restaurant menu, or concert tickets.) There have been some new problems it's created without a doubt. In the end, it really all comes down to awareness. People should be more aware of not only how their smartphone can make you "less present" but a higher awareness of what's going on in the world around them. I think mental health wise, social media is the elephant in the room.

I'm not sure why voicemails were missed. That shouldn't happen because it still has to go to the carrier to record the voicemail just as it does for an iPhone, and it displays an icon when there are new voicemails. My dad and a couple other people I know still use them, and AT&T sent out newer ones for free to customers since 3G is being shut down (similar to the one in the video). It does actually have KZbin and Maps (but it would be a pain to use)! I actually have one too I occasionally play around with. It's a Cingular Flip IV which I think is equivalent to the Alcatel.

So, you didn’t do much preparation for this video you could’ve found a phone that allowed you to do what you needed to do for your work. There are “dumb” phones that do great things. The decision to make the switch has to come from a place of genuine desire to do it. You ragged on the entire experiment and sprinkled in a few good points. The whole point of a nonsmart phone is to be able to live in the moment and understand that you may not need Chipotle points. Your mindset wasn’t to decompress from smart phones or consumption of media. If you had to give up your smart phone you would figure it out. I am Not able to have my phone this week and the fact that those who I want to get in touch with I get in touch with, and those who need to get in touch with me make sure that they do so.

You just needed more time to detox and get yourself used to going without. You tried, but obviously it is going to get worse before it gets better, and if you had kept at it, the positives in your life would have been enough for you and that addictive pattern would have subsided. You seemed to give up as soon as one inconvenient or frustrating situation arose. You ended the video by saying you learned to be more present and have reduced your use, but as long as you have a smartphone and have the ability to redownload apps you felt were problematic, you will do it. Did I miss out? What happened to your purple iPhone 11?
@techno_eclipse2 жыл бұрын
My carrier had a deal where if you add a line they give you a free iphone 13, my sister, mom, and wife didn't want it, so I wasn't about to pass up a free upgrade.

I bought cat s22 flip. When im at work i have to go back to my smartphone because i need some features flip cant. But during off days im back to the flip. Cat s22 is a flip with smartphone features but limited so you have limitations as well and find it anoying to use those apps. Unless you enjoy watching or browsing on a small screen. Im checking on other phones as well that is more of a dumber phone than this. 😁🤣😂

I feel sad watching this really thought you were going to change permenantly to the basic phone, it seems to me there were way more positives to using it than negatives, now you will just go back to being a slave to the smart phone 😢

🤣try using contactless payments😉 on the dumb phone🤣
@jrewillis5 күн бұрын
I mean you can just use your contactless cards? Really isn’t a big deal and the dumb phone is so small and light I just carry my card wallet with me now. Easy.
@NartaQNC Жыл бұрын
Impossible for me to do that. I do SO MANY things with my smartphone that I can’t. And I don’t care about social medias except some time here and there on twitter

I can't tell if you were genuinely emotional over missing some calls, or if you were "influencer" emotional
@techno_eclipse Жыл бұрын
Genuinely upset. This was several months ago, but I had recently been down sized and the call I missed was a call back from a job. It ended up working out ok, but it scared me thinking I could miss a call of that severity.
