It's illegal for programs to change policy once you start. Sounds like a great class action law suit to me.

TheMabes69 I've thought about doing that, but I wanted to get all the documents I signed when I went into the program. I'm wondering if they slipped a paper in there that i wasn't aware of, saying that I understood there was changes made or something. They were so shady it would t surprise me if they did that.

The same thing happened in the nursing program that I was in. Turns out two teachers are being investigated. It's crazy!

I’m sorry you are going through this, nursing school is often unfair.

I had that paneling in a Single Wide Trailer, so I took textured wallpaper, and painted it, and looked like drywall. But that was my first wife, and all those memories need covering, Lol.

This sounds so much like the school I'm attending right now, I am so sorry you had to go through this. It's good you're able to see the bright side of things. I'm sending positive thoughts your way!

Out of the program completely? That’s crazy! If we fail one class we can go with the cohort behind us, if you failed two you have to go to in front of the board & present your case. If you fail the ATI you get a second chance and if you fail a second time you have to repeat the class and with the class behind you.
@krystalreyna56136 жыл бұрын
Marinah Lucio Yea they didn’t tell us we were the last cohort so we couldn’t join any cohorts behind us because there wasn’t any lol but they didn’t tell us when we signed up

Nursing is stressful...my friend had her baby on a Friday and went to school on Monday....we were doing clinical!!!

I remember when doing my lpn...they give you a second chance if you fail or withdraw the class. If you fail the 2nd time...you would have to meet up with the DON. In pharmacology...you need to pass the medicine math part...same thing only 2 chance. But if you don’t pass that part...you have to drop the whole class doesn’t matter if you ace everything.

I just want you to know that with nursing programs, it's not personal. Each program is allowed by the BON to prepare people to take a licensure exam and if the schools numbers on first time pass rate aren't up to the standard set by the BON they cannot have a nursing program where graduates are eligible to sit for nclex, because of these strict standards most school implement ATI or hesi testing for individual classes or end of semesters in order to accurately predict students who have the best chance at passing NCLEX. If you fail a class you aren't ready to take a standardized test that will evaluate whether you will be a good candidate for the licensure exam, if that makes sense as well if you pass all your classes but cannot pass the predictor tests (the ati or hesi tests) you may be able to recall information for tests during a class but may be unable to apply that knowledge to to nursing prediction test standards. I think if you want to be a nurse keep going but I'm not sure you fully understand the reasons for failures/dismissals from nursing programs. I hope everything goes well for you in the future whatever you may purse whether that be nursing or full time momming! I am a nurse and was a sahm I took off a year from nursing with second child and am missing be a sahm some days now that I'm back at work.

I understand reasons for failures/dismissals, however I don't think your're understanding what I'm saying. what i was trying to get across was the fact that they did not disclose this information to my class. They told us when we registered," if you fail one class you have the opportunity to retake the class again with the cohort behind you.".... Our 1st day of semester one started, they informed us that those were the standard regulations, however they were making changes to the program, so we couldn't fail any classes otherwise we would be out of the program. All of my peers and myself agreed that if we had known that information at registration time, none of us would have signed up with that school. They also didn't allow us to fail the ATI testings, yet all the other cohorts ahead of us were allowed multiple opportunities. And when I told the DON I felt a teacher wasn't being fair with me by not accepting my homework for no other reason other than the fact she was on a power trip... he did nothing. I don't understand how a teacher is allowed to accept other students homework, but not mine without a valid reason. That teacher was a bully and everyone knew it. But the DON didn't look further into the situation at all. When I contacted the board of nursing about this, they were very interested in what was happening and mentioned that an investigation needed to be done. Now a year of my life was wasted away from my family and I will have to pay half of a $40,000 tuition. I feel like so many nurses are needed, yet there aren't enough nursing schools or even good nursing teachers. And yes I am proud to say I will be going back to nursing school in less than a month.

I did horrendous on hesi test outs. Passed NCLEX in 84 questions
@justinelindsey37247 жыл бұрын
Most nursing programs you need 80-90 in each class to move on to the next class or semester... I wish more ppl knew this pior! Also some to most focus mostly on ATI & NCLEX, better the passing rate better the school looks. It's not all bad cause nursing school is the best, just HARD as heck.

What is up with colleges and universities having these weird rules that they aren't telling students. I'm Canadian and I took a Pre Health Sciences (nursing pre reqs basically) three years ago that started in January. After first semester we were supposed to have a 4 month break through the summer and second semester would continue in September. We were told after midterm exams (a couple months in) that we could drop any courses we weren't passing and get half our money back. I was failing Math at the time, and not doing great in English (both problems from horrible teachers who just couldn't explain anything well enough). Half of my program dropped either Math or English(it was an essay writing course), but I decided to stick it out. So some students dropped courses and continued on with the rest of their classes. Literally the week before final exams, we all got emailed by the program coordinator stating that "everyone was told" if you failed or dropped out of one course, you were not allowed to continue to second semester, because they had no time to have us re take a course in the summer. Nobody knew about this, and I asked a lot of other students. So the students that dropped math and english were allowed to finish their classes but then were told they would have to re do semester 1 anyway. So, three years later here I am about to re do the program after 2 years of applying back into and and them raising the entrance requirement marks and re vamping the program entirely. I feel ya on what you went through. I'm starting to think they're just trying to take all our money haha.
