Pocket sized Filofaxes or any other size where never made to be used as a wallet, they are paper based organisers. But in the early 2000s they had a range called Balmoral and it include an actually wallet Filofax, it was styled in the same shape as a mans wallet. I haven't seen anything similar since then. Only some of the Filofax pocket range work well as wallets, but you can always use a compact or even a personal as a wallet if you have more cards to store. I love Filofaxes but I don't buy their inserts and I rarely even use the ones that come with the Filofaxes I buy.

B Blake Agreed, these are essentially planners, not really meant to be used as wallets.

Hi Amy, I have two Filofax Pocket Maldens that I use as combined calendar/wallet and I don´t have the problem that you describe. The way that I have my set up is that I have the calendar first, then the same credit card pocket that you have , which I put in the back of the Filofax (Filofax Diary comes in the front) and then the pen in the pen loop. I Think that you should have tried putting the credit card pocket like i do.

I agree about the poor design on the card pocket things. Just have to have minimal cards.

Ha ha haaaaaaaa... OMG... When u just said "I can't even get it!!!" and that Malden went spinning.... I FREAKIN CRACKED UP! Lolllll.... You are too through!

I have just bought a Finsbury pocket and bought those credit card holders that you describe. They have not arrived yet, I had a load of personal size ones which I just trimmed down,they load horizontally rather than vertical. The cards stay safe but they do overshoot a little which would probably bug you to death! I've also got a bulge in mine but that doesn't bother me.

I’m struggling with this same issue at the moment. It’s so lovely but the pockets aren’t designed for cards and the card holders are poorly designed and bulky. Surely another brand has created a credit card holder in the pocket size that is a better design? Can’t seem to find an alternative anywhere?

Oh wow I just this afternoon ordered a Pocket Malden in purple from England. I looked at other Utube videos to get an idea. I hope I made the correct choice. Thanks for you video.:)

Planner Aussie enjoying life The Maldens are fantastic planners. But, if you choose to turn them into wallets, which they aren't designed to be, you may not be as happy as you would be with a real wallet. As evidenced by the pockets which are definitely not made to hold cards securely, the Malden is an agenda/planner. If used for it's designed purpose, I think you'll be happy with your Malden.

The credit card holders for the pocket size are, I totally agree, very badly designed. I am really surprised that after all these years they haven't redesigned them. The zip pocket is so shallow it's totally useless, and it's the same depth on the personal size. I bought the Malden pocket and personal size at the same time. The leather on my personal was so badly creased and ugly that I hate the thing. I have put it away and can't bear to look at it, let alone use it. I no longer trust to buy any leather Filofax and my last two bought have been the cheaper PU ones. The standard of Filofax has been going down for the last few years. Even the rings they use now I am sure are a cheaper type as they also are often misaligned and faulty. They will soon start losing business and getting a bad name if they don't stop assuming the Filofax name will mask the shoddy workmanship they are allowing now.

I have only had my own Filofaxes for the past couple of years so to me I haven't yet seen any decline in quality, but I do agree in that if they start cutting corners they will loose their reputation.

I have also filmed a video comparing the differences in the leather of my Malden's that I will be shortly uploading if you are interested :)

Thanks for your opinion. I was going to buy some Filofax brand credit card holders to do the same exact thing. I had made a pocket like in the pocketfullofvintage tutorial and found it too big. I was just like you in closing it. Right now it's sitting on my shelf. I'm not ready to part with it yet. What did you end up doing?
@amyatkins110 жыл бұрын
I ended up culling half of my cards and taking half of them out. Now I have three card holders in there instead of six and it closes better. I haven't cut the extra part on the side off yet because when it's not so stuffed it sits better, but it is something I think about doing when I have coins in the zip pocket. I have grown to like it a little better because I can just grab my pocket, put my phone in the back and off I go. But deep down I think the personal Malden is my better suited Filofax because I can keep both my planner and wallet in one, but it doesn't have quite enough writing room space. Perhaps next year I will buy some personal inserts just in case! The pocket would make a great travel wallet and I have seen some great pictures of this on Pinterest!

Filo Amy Thanks for the update! I have been thinking about doing that but just don't have the time to really play. Nor do I have another case to put the other cards. What are you using for your "other" cards? Do you bring them with you or just leave them at home?
@amyatkins110 жыл бұрын
I just left them at home. I'll be so annoyed if I ever need one of them when I'm out though haha. I think I might just save up for a compact Malden and sell my pocket.
@LizSmisselizabeth2u10 жыл бұрын
Haha! I thought of that too. I've never seen a compact Malden. I was thinking of getting a Daiso credit card holder and cutting it up to fit in the pocket. Just no time for it now. :(

Hi Amy did you end up selling this little planner or did you find it ended up working for you?
@amyatkins110 жыл бұрын
I ended up selling it. I think it was just way to small for me. Now I'm trying to track down the compact Malden but it's super hard! I've been using a regular purse and definitely miss having my envelope budgeting system on hand!
@MakeupModaVida9 жыл бұрын
Filo Amy HI! loved ur video! It's so real! haha, I am using a compact Calipso and it works perfect for the envelope system! i was considering a pocket for the back pocket, but with the envelope system I use punched envelopes and the bills fit perfectly!
@amyatkins19 жыл бұрын
I used to use a compact Calipso for my wallet, but I wanted something with a bit more floppiness, but it was perfect because it was nice and slip although my zippered part was way too tight for coins which was annoying!
@MakeupModaVida9 жыл бұрын
yup i agree about the coins, I always use a separate coin purse from Tory Burch with my additional cards that I dont need as well, even with my regular wallets! its so hard to find something thats perfect huh! >.
@amyatkins19 жыл бұрын
I think the closest thing that I have come to perfection is the personal Malden and that's why I'm so keen on tracking down a compact version!
@maggieminoz64998 жыл бұрын
Hi there Amy I am looking for a Malden Zip in compact too. Do you know where I may find one. I cant seem to find any groups on Facebook. Nothing on Ebay either. Can anyone help please. thankyou Maggie

I totally agree about the card pockets and inserts, but not just on this binder, it's most of them... The credit card slots aren't sized for cards they are sized based on how big the binder is --- and the a5 malden is no better. The slots are too big or too small and none of them are at the right depth. At least you can store other things in them since the malden is so flexible - many slots and pockets are useless because you can't even get into them. To me it seems like they are designed by someone who does not use a planner and clearly they don't make test prototypes - or they would know how little sense it all makes Tracy
@amyatkins110 жыл бұрын
I use other credit card holders in my personal size and mostly they are exactly the size I need and they are a very cheap brand. I haven't had any issues with my A5 holders yet, but I find my things fit snuggly in the leather pockets and credit card holders. But totally agree on developing a prototype!
