Everyone went to him when they found a bug, so he could add it to the list. He's done much for the community. Most of the problems the game has, everyone learned through him. He's played this game since at least 2016-2017. I can safely say Helvian knows the game better than you and most members of the community. Don't judge someone you hardly know anything about. Doing so displays no intelligence and maturity.

After watching the whole hour... Although I'll honestly say I'm annoyed when there's poorly performing players on my team, I just feel bad for the newcomers. It's really not their fault, especially not when they literally say "sorry, I'm new," or "sorry I played badly," because these sad sweethearts visibly tried- but the other 9 in that match all have 1k hours minimally. They know they lack experience, but they didn't give up, they stayed through the game, they visibly tried, even when there's a 90% chance some toxic teammates are going to lose their shit over it. That just breaks my heart.

The thing is once you get past stability you still have matchmaking, reptive map design, lack of content, lack of qualtiy of life features like lfg and endorsements, no workshop and instead the outdated custom games, terrible matchmaking, lack of content, pay to win skins, terrible progression system, and so much more. Any objective way you can compare the two games overwatch absolutley stomps outside of hero number( which is made up by more maps and gamemodes) and the only subjective thing you can compare is the core game design which is subjective and all these flaws listed in the video pretty much causes people to enjoy and play overwatch more even if they would enjoy the core of paladins more.

At this point, I still think it wouldn't be impossible to just start from scratch on a new engine, like unreal 4 with better code structure. I don't know much about coding, if at all, but at this point is it really that risky to start from scratch? The game is already in a somewhat unrepairable state, it might even be easier to start new instead trying to fix the old.They could reuse the old physics equations and calculations or whatever to make the gameplay feel similar, but along with it, it might even turn out being better because of better stability and support. The current code is way too spaghetti and outdated, I don't really think it's worth it to keep trying to fix and untangle this mess like this.

A little story about my beginner days. Match-making rocks!!! Less than a month after i installed this game (sometime around Nov 2018 i believe), I got matched against RKTA who was on Andro n he single-handedly fck'd us all up (I was with 2 fellow new players like me lol). At least I knew somethings about the game even before I started playing all thanks to KZbinrs out there with Beginners Guides and so after that serious ass whooping, I went to the guru site to look him up as i knew he was no ordinary player I should be matched with as a FCK'N beginner. Lo n behold, he was a Pro player, who is still praised to have one of the best aims in the Pro league. You could imagine my fck'n luck. Oh yeah, I was now to PC gaming as well lol. I clearly remember it all to this date cuz it was my first WTF moment of Paladins. That was just one of several instances I faced super unbalanced match-making. Even while in gold when i started ranked, I did face duo queues v GMs. Once i was against Fisheko 3 times in a row n yeah no need to comment how that went hehe.

I agree with most of what you said here, it's made me a little sad. I have spent a very long time in this game, and I have quit many times, but I always come back as you said, the game at its core is very fun. It's just colossal amount of added on bullshit that you have to constantly wade through to get anything close to an enjoyable experience that ruins it. We'll just hope that one day it will get better. Don't get me wrong, it has been improving, but there is still so much left to fix that it seems impossible sometimes... The games I've had since the pirate's patch was implemented have been such utter garbage, my win rate has dropped by 7%, and I don't even have crossplay enabled! I can't say that I'm some god and that was all my team's fault, obviously, I haven't been at my best, but it still feels like every game is a random game of Russian roulette. If you get lucky you'll have an actually decent game where both sides are equal or more likely you'll just have a stomp. Should you be unfortunate enough, you'll just fucking shoot yourself in the face and blow your brains out while you sit back and wonder what got you here, with such absolute shit show of a match that makes me wonder why I still play this game. Since pirates have been implimented it feels like 80% of my games are the latter. I am losing hope that it will actually be the game I know so many people want and wish it to be.

You also can use that as a form of mobility, you can use pip's weapon to maintain momentum, or Bk Weapon to make a hard jump over a wall

3 years later and the ranked matchmaking got even worse, it's more common for golds and lower to get with diamonds or higher, even unranked players getting in a lobby with dia+ players. ANd servers since 2 years ago feel like they're being run on Africa on a 80s pc many times(EU and SEA get hit the worst with the server issues)

Helvian, honestly, I think that fish market doesn't deserve to be removed, it's probably the oldest map in the game, there are worse maps with more problems (like shittered diarreah, aka shattered desert) Fish market just needs a big rework, a serious one, not the color change they did some patches ago. A rework to cover large spaces, fix heavy walls, buggy spots and skybox. (I hope they also revert the color change, the old one looked beautiful)

Watched the whole video, DAMN! I’m one of the crazy guys who likes Paladins and i play it daily. I agree to most things you say, but the reason why i keep playing it (and even buying BP) is because of the effort put in this game. Every character is different in it’s own way, the game is fun, and fun helps to accept bugs. Since i started playing the game has become more stable. I think the devs rn have a problem, to solve the bugs they would need to invest (wild guess here) 6 months. Meanwhile they can’t work on new skins or champs, they couldn’t even get more devs, because the money to pay the salary of those devs comes from skins, bp, etc... and a longer period of stall for the game would mean potentially losing active players. I have two great examples: 1) Apex: They don’t update or add something new to the game. It took just 4-5 months to lose the spotlight. 2) RB6 - Operation health: They solved a lot of bugs (in 3 months) but didn’t release pre-announced content, letting the player base disappointed. Generally I think paladins is well balanced, and a good balance between “new content” and “bug fixes” will keep this game alive and will make it grow ^.^ Finally, (sorry long comment), i kinda get your “”””toxic”””” tone in the video, but i like the fact that behind all the criticism, you are hoping to see game succeed. Making a 1h video for a game that you hate is stupid, making a 1h video for a game that you hate, because you believe it should be better is a whole other story ^.^ Liked and subscribed

So lets see, some easy introductions... 1) Make every champion free to play 2) make Class, Gamemode, and advanced tutorials to inform new players 3) tell new players they will be placed against bots for their first 5 levels and say "This is the time to Experiemnt" 4) Scrub some code, characters, maps and sounds so that things work as intended 5) Make bots better 6) Untangle the Spaghetti that is the code so that people can actually play 7) Make every champion, or atleast most of them, intruiging to play Note) I love this game but with all these issues its hard to get friends who dont play the game into playing this with me

This is one of my favourite paladins videos of all time. The reasons helvian gave for why he still liked the game despite its shortcomings hit home really hard. The main issue with this game (and the company) is that the community is comprised of two type of people : there are those who are fanboys that gives a free pass to everything and doesn't take criticism kindly ("it's a free game", "they don't have enough money why are you being mean") and then there are those who's like "yeah these game sucks but I'll still stick to it and hope hirez will improve and fix all the bugs and visual glitches". Just give up. Hi-rez will never care about match-making/bugs/balancing. They don't want to improve the game, they only wants to improve their pocket.

I continue to play Paladins with friends since it's quite fun, but I 100% get where you're coming from. The last I've played it before recently was around 2018, which was a different time than before. I agree that Hi-Rez and Evil Mojo have to get their shit together to improve the game (like implementing correct hit-boxes and not capsule) and fix bugs instead of pumping out skins. Hopefully, they'll get a co-worker or anyone who'll have the guts to pressure the companies to actually fix these major issues.

Also if i can add something to help you, drogoz still debuff target with Fire spit direct hit despite the fact they removed It a while ago. And the new UI actually hid some informations like prowl duration, harpoon damage, ecc... Basically they hid all analitic informations, the numbers that player WANT ti see in order to build a loadout for their Champions. Oh and matchmaking Is broken in TDM and koth too. Played with GM since the update while i'm barely Gold

I've been playing since the end of May and I've grown kinda fond of Paladins. The new player experience is definitely a little difficult, especially when you're just thrown into a main menu without a real explanation of how to even collect the daily rewards or that there's even daily rewards. Free Rotation is not explained that "You don't actually own those characters." and that you can't pick your first Free Rotation set. I can only thank God that Grohk was in my first Free Rotation and he's one of my favorite characters to play. Also, give me 2-5 Casual Matches with a character before I spend my hard earned Gold on them so that I know that I'm not fond of Sha Lin despite his appearance or that Fernando is trash in my hands.

rip, I've honestly been having a lot of fun with the game, but a large part of that is due to Overwatch going down the shitter with its own set of horrid characters and balance. We're at a point where even a lot of the pros have almost stopped playing on stream because it's a game of shooting shields now, and Paladins might have a chance to gain players again. But of course, like you said, you just can't recommend this to anyone even if you yourself can play it. It's too unfriendly and nonfunctional for newer players looking for a game to actually learn.

I literally just played tonight after quitting for 6 months. The ttk ruins the game, the burst is still there. Nvm rushing the same exact items every match and brainless champs holding W at you. Add that in with the 3rd person bug that I couldn't get out of and boom, uninstalled. I remember z1 had one of the coders on stream one night playing, he said Smite has less players than paladins but makes 10x the money. Saying that less money coming in = less money for more coders and fixing stuff. Two ideas, maybe fix the game and ppl will spend more... OR maybe stop making shitty f2p games and charge 10 bucks for the game so you can polish it a bit... such a trash business model. Level 270 something, played off/on since 2016... I just can't do it anymore. I feel dumb playing it. Even winning isn't rewarding anymore. Great video.
