Why I Hate Splat Zones in Splatoon 3

Totally agree, it's way too easy to lock the other team out of the zones, the lack of good maps and flanks make it easy for a team to control one area and keep spawncamping you. At least that's the case in soloQ

I think zones could be improved if a captured zone slowly expanded further into the enemy base so that the longer the zone is held, the larger it becomes and further forward your team has to protect. This could also give a goal to the mode instead of just relying on counting down a timer. If your team can hold the zone long enough for it to expand all the way into the enemy base, the match could end. To keep it from getting snowbally, as the zone expands and smaller percentage of it would need to be covered to neutralize it. That or have the zone simply move instead of expand.

yeah the zone moving would be great, but i can see why that cant really be implemented because of all of the narrow space on the maps. bluefin depot took a step in the right direction but thats only because the map has 2 mids. so it just moves from one mid to the other.

Why I like Zones: I can preform a lot of Murder. But other than that it’s really not that good

Zones is bad because if your team gets wiped out you basically lose. All the enemy has to do is spawn camp while the timer ticks down very quickly. It’s just a simple mode that needs more depth in order to be playable.

The worst mode by far is clams. Clams is just disgusting on how unfair it is to slower weapons.

i feel like a lot of people hate on clams for no reason, but i like how fluid the objective is. all of the map is used and the objective is spread out all over. sure its not my favorite mode, but i really like the idea.

@@Beckett. Every mode is very dynamic and features a constant tug of war between teams - even zones, despite being static. That is, every mode, except clams. Out of all of them clams feel very static and either extremely frustrating or extremely boring. You can go an entire match without scoring a single clam, both teams just stalling each other out until the match ends, or the opponents wipe the floor with you, or you win easily and are left with a feeling that you haven't done anything. And if you're a slow weapon or an anchor, pray your team is good because you are definitely going to be absolutely useless. I've been playing Splatoon for a year now and not once have I had an enjoyable clams match, at this point I just avoid it altogether.

@@Beckett. My rating of game modes is the following: 1. Tower 2. Zones 3. Turf 4. Rainmaker And I'm not even putting clams on the list because for me clams basically don't exist, it's that bad.

@@PatPatych thats exactly how i feel about zones, so i do get what youre saying but clams isnt like that. honestly id say that slower weapons are fun on clams, especially mid range ones.
