For those who want to dive deeper, I recommend reddit.com/r/churning and doctorofcredit.com. Those two resources are all you need to get 95% of the way there. The last 5%, which I think is too much effort to be worthwhile for most, is by diving into FlyerTalk.com and other private groups.

Dave Ramsey doesn’t like this.
@ap38853 жыл бұрын
I love Dave and he had a great analogy. Credit cards are like cigarettes. Just because it doesn’t give everyone cancer or kill them doesn’t mean he’s going to recommend them to you. He’s right which is why it doesn’t align with his teaching. But only you know yourself. If you’re financially responsible, you budget, you can control yourself from over spending and pay the card off at the end of the month then you’re capable of churning. I would not recommend this to my wife. She’s responsible but once in awhile I have to keep her in check 😆
@manictiger3 жыл бұрын
@@ap3885 That analogy is stupid as hell. The CPI just showed a 5.5% inflation rate and the real inflation rate is probably closer to 15% - 25%. Only an absolute moron would turn down a 2.9% - 3.5% mortgage or unsecured EIDL loan, or 1% PPP loan. In the hands of someone with an I.Q. above 13, debt is good. Once you can control a million or more dollars worth of assets, you're pretty much invincible, provided you're smart.
@ap38853 жыл бұрын
@@manictiger Where did you get all that from, from that analogy? Credit cards doesn’t ruin everyone but it doesn’t mean he’s going to recommend them. That’s all that was. Nothing in regards to percentages, mortgages and loans. You give credit cards to the wrong person and it’ll ruin them if they don’t have self control.
@manictiger3 жыл бұрын
@@ap3885 Cigarettes ruin everyone. Debt doesn't. Buy in bulk. Take out unsecured debt on appreciating assets. Don't ever pay off a delinquent balance (except your mortgages). If you can't afford to fix your credit score, then you don't have the money to need a good score. It's a force multiplier. If your networth is 1 million, then credit is super-important. If your networth is 0, then credit doesn't mean anything. Just build up networth for 7 years and the derogatories automatically disappear. Ramsey is an imbecile at best and a slaver at worst.
@ap38853 жыл бұрын
@@manictiger He’s not against certain mortgages but we’re on the topic of credit cards here. And credit card is like a drug in the wrong hands. So I don’t get what you’re not seeing in that statement. Not all this other rambling you’re going off on.

For anyone that is interested in building their credit, I would state that carrying a balance up to the statement closing date could pose a benefit. when carrying that balance up to the statement closing date, a minimum payment would be generated and made due. you could avoid interest and increase on-time payment average when you pay the balance in full by the due date, but hey, not a credit analyst. sometimes if you consistently pay off the purchases you make, it may result in a 0$ balance by the statement closing date, which would result in no minimum payment required.
