I'm in the similar situation Daniel-san. 35 in April, working low end jobs, few friends from highschool that I still communicate with over the phone. I have to accept and come to peace with aging, being low status, lonely and having no goals. I think it's time to lower the expectations that I have for life and just wait for the final day.

My life was pretty manageable before. I can relax whenever I want. Until I decided to buy a Condominium. It's so hard. Now I don't know if I can ever travel again and wage slave my life away.. I'm not sure if I am securing my future too much and selling my youth for this. Don't buy a property. If your parents already had one, just stay there and enjoy your life. The system that we are living in these days is just a SCAM. You are living my dream, Daniel. So keep on doing that.

This is not a complete failure, it's adaptation. I invested one year of coding on a mobile app that was completely ignored and it was very dangerous mentally. When you see that it's not in the cards having fame or significant success it's wise to become a minimalist. I'm currently focused on becoming a mediocre wagecuck programmer and that alone seems out of reach often. Obviously I'm autistic etc, just like Daniel is. Probably the difficulty to even adapt to simple jobs comes from that.

@@Sourusophyexe Haha. I know why it failed. I made an app that I wanted, not what people wanted. Besides, it is a game book app and mobile gaming is IMO hostile to reading, so the choose your own story style with an actual long book was never going to work. Then, it is just in Spanish. Finally, I didnt market the game and even the people I sent had problems finding it. Basically: it was like buying Bitcoin in 2022, I was many years late to the gold rush.

I resonate with this, coming from a "low class financially" family, and raised in a poverty stricken town, I still had massive dreams and ambitions, tried so many different avenues and things, but prices are going up, wages are staying shit, and the gov/system, want the "average Joes" (I'm a girl) to stay in a vicious cycle of debt and overworking till death. I've actually put work and effort into many different things, as well, whilst consecutively putting food on the table and working most of my life. And you know what? Im 32 and still no nearer to having a decent amount of savings, or achieved anything worthwhile. I'm genuinely starting to believe some people are born lucky, and some are born to struggle. I have lost my ambition and motivation which I had in my 20s. But I'm still constantly thinking of new things and new ways to thrive.

I've done the same thing my entire life but have never fully seen it as failing or giving up, more so just getting bored. The intense interest just fades and I couldn't care anymore. Because of this, I've always found the idea of a career silly. There's not a single thing I can imagine doing every single day/taking the forefront in my mind without getting terribly bored and upset. I've found it best to do something that you don't mind, something that takes minimal time and effort but pays the bills and lets you pursue things outside of work. I've also found that antidepressants and ADHD medication help me stay interested in things a little longer lol.

3 points regarding taking your A Levels again and going to uni: 1) Yeah, student loans seem like a lot, but considering you only pay once you have an annual income above 25k (Plan 5 since you'd be starting after August 2023)., it's actually not bad. I make £42k as a software engineer (working remotely and after a year and a half of experience) and repaying the loan is such a tiny portion of my monthly income that it's really not noticeable. Plus, it gets cancelled after 30 years anyway (or when you're 65). So really there's no situation where you have to pay while not having an income. You only pay when you can. 2) A Levels take 2 years, uni takes 3 (undergraduate). 5 years will pass anyway; would you rather be in the same position you're in now in 5 years, or have a degree at the end of it and a secure job? Time will pass regardless, so at least do something in the mean time. 3) Although I love my job, I do get that the 9-5 is dystopian and awful. I absolutely love programming, everything about it, but I do not want to do this into my 40s and beyond at the same rate. My goal is contract work so I can do 6 months of work, 6 months of traveling etc. The thing is that unless you're in the 1% of talented individuals or have crazy luck, you just have to grind to eventually get more freedom. The good news is that you definitely can get out of the grind or reduce it substantially by making good career choices (i.e. don't work at the same place year after year UNLESS they keep up with other offers you could be getting etc.)

@@DaveSeville-sf1ku I did things at the usual age (16-18 for A-Levels, 19-22 for uni, job after I graduated and now I'm 24). It's definitely never too late though to make sure you have a secure future. I'd be stressed beyond belief if I had Daniel's income because it's so inconsistent that you literally can't plan anything around it, you don't know if next month you'll make £1k or £50, and you're depending on strangers not getting bored... While at uni I saw plenty of people in their 30s and 40s, some with kids and wives/husbands, so a lot more responsibility than Daniel has. If a 40 year old mom can get a degree and decent job while also taking care of kids and everything, then Daniel definitely can.

It genuinely saddens me all those comments dunking on him. Just because this guy has takes you deem stupid and obviously wrong from your perspective, it really will never justify dunking on someone that is hopeless and acting like a sarcastic bully. As someone who has had depression and had stupid view on life (probably still have, but at least it doesn't really matter for anyone, or myself either), I can tell you: when you don't have hope and have no motivation to advance, you can't have the perspective of someone ready to struggle to advance, you just can't. Telling him that he is better off than most people on earth and making fun of him won't help anyone. Just because he isn't crying or showing much doesn't mean it doesn't affect him, he said it himself, that he considers himself a "loser", there is no way that this doesn't affect him. When you hear it from everybody, you just come to accept it as reality, even if it destroys your self esteem. I just hope this dude will stop "hiding in his room" as his channels implies, will get talk to a psycologist and get some help, because thats what we need when we're down, even if we've always been down and are used to it, there is no shame to it, it doesn't mean you're stupid, mentally retarded, it just means you're down, and need help to get out. If I have one advice, its that struggling and advancing is not about achieving what you want nor "finishing something in order to...", like get a specific job, its about getting freedom, the more you work, the more you struggle, the less there is to do and the more choices you have, the more choices you have, the better your will to live you have, even without "achieving" anything, because you feel like your life is yours again, it isn't about being passionate about something. You don't need a passion or feel like a genius at something to enjoy life, you need to feel like your life is yours. At least thats what I've come to realize, apprehending the road ahead will inevitably make you fall into your confort zone again and make you think that its not worth it, so just charge like a bull at every step, there is nothing to lose if not your freedom you're already giving up.

Hi Daniel, if you don't want student debt (very understandable), you can easily sign up for online university courses that even give you free ECTS (!) that can be counted towards a Bachelor's degree later on. Example: computer programming and database courses at University of Turku in Finland. Completely free! A lot of Scandinavian and other European countries offer free university education, I really don't understand why people would go into debt or just limit their focus on the US or UK. I'm aware that the UK is no longer part of the EU but I'm sure that you can easily get a student visa for Europe if you would want to attend in person. Having said that, there are more and more full online bachelor degree programs where you don't even need to attend except for one week per semester for the exams. Just takes some google'ing and digging, it's all out there.

I'd like to believe I understand what you're feeling. I have felt the same way you have....At one point I was thinking I have ADHD or shinny object syndrome. I would Google things and self diagnose on WebMD lol. I went to therapy to try and deal with it cause I didn't want to waste time. I sought advice from mentors and life coaches. I got more organized, bought myself a planner etc all these methods to try and help myself. Its like you're in a state of permanent depression. I'm taking responsibility cause as an adult I'm learning to embrace accountability. I started exercising, eating better, changing my environment by going to different locations that would help me focus like cafes, public parks, tried making my living room have an aura of a productive workspace etc. I quit therapy cause it wasn't helping me much. I tried being more disciplined. Nothing worked. Hahaha I'm still fighting though...someday I will overcome. I'm breaking my goals down into smaller manageable steps. I am using Jordan Peterson's Future authoring program to help and I am trusting the Lord God to give me strength. I hope you will have the willpower to overcome too and find whatever method works for you to get out of that state.

There is nothing to get in life that you can take with you to the grave. Success is fundamentally a coping mechanism for those afraid to face the idea that they are one day going to be gone. If you've ever done meditation then you'll know that other people are just a huge distraction that prevent you from knowing yourself. A lot of people deliberately want other people in their lives so that they can be distracted 24/7 and won't have to face life's realities.

@@Vmining Actually, most people at the end of life talk about how they wish they hadn't wasted their life working so hard. One of their main regrets is not spending more time enjoying life with family and such. Daniel's philosophy would probably be more fulfilling at the end of life than someone that worked 24/7 to achieve something that they may or may not have even truly cared about in their heart (i.e. I need to become a doctor because my parents told me to/i just want community status). I think that, aside from cereal, Daniel just hasn't found something that intrinsically drives him; that he can't stop thinking about, like a video game that you get obsessed with and you can't put the controller down, that you're thinking about all day in school wanting to get back to. Lesson learned: Everything worth learning is difficult to learn. Additionally: If someone as horrible at relationships like Daniel managed to get so many different girlfriends... maybe we all have a chance.

Common, Daniel. You're good at drawing. Just stick to your own style and stop comparing yourself to others, or giving up just because a few people are telling you it's not good enough. It seems like you're good at picking up new skills pretty fast and your banjo skills are getting there. You just need to change the mindset from "I'm going to become the greatest" into something more realistic. And you should ask yourself why you want to go back to Japan. If you're trying to get your viewers back, it won't probably be a good idea and you'll become bored in no time. Altough a return of Chichi is welcome :) Set small goals and work your way up and stop running in circles. I've been watching you for 5 years and sometimes it almost feels like every life changing event you're doing is because you're hoping to get views. It should be the other way around. It's a good thing you give up on videogames when they become to difficult and such because it's always a waste of time. You've got this.👊

Change your diet. I used to be exactly like you.. Im now in my 40s and life is so much better. I had a crappy diet before, decided it was the source of my motivation issues and being able to stick to things.. i went full carnivore. My body and brain work far better on fats rather than carbs/sugar in a state of ketosis. If you truly want to improve your life experience, you need to make changes. Diet wasn't a massive deal and it had almost immediate results and much more over the long term. Its not expensive either. You can buy strategically. It's worked for a great many people struggling with depression as well.

Only boring people feel bored on a regular basis. danny is a boring person because he is too lazy to want (and subsequently make an effort to do things that would bring joy). I think he blames external things/places for being boring when its actuslly him thats the problem. It all stems down to him being too damm lazy. A non lazy person would work harder to get things and do things, but it wouldnt seem hard work to them cuz they r not lazy in the first place. AND, those things would bring more joy to them than they would to danny

I think you're a bit confused about fulfilling careers. Some would say I have one, but the reality is work is work. A lot of days, I don't want to do my job, even though it's something I'm very interested in. But I always do it anyway. I do it so I can help my future self, my loved ones, and my community. People with rewarding careers are not more interested or passionate. They've just practiced resilience. Every day you don't give up, it becomes easier not to give up. Also seems like maybe this is the thing your are passionate about and not giving up on?

Well things are definitely hard in terms of working class jobs, people that work they have a great will to work and or strong bodies, though some work no matter if their feet hurt or their back hurts., some get hurt or die in the process. It's people that are born into rich families that got the best deal of life. Oh and excellent Banjo picking there my friend, have you heard of the song Oh Susana?
