When I feel like that I always remember there is that ONE person having a day worse than yours and that your situation is easier than theirs. XhaeVaeRhin XhaeVaeRhin people with extreme social anxiety can't do that so easily, it's an ongoing battle in their head. When they get in a conversation they feel like they're drowning, they have the constant fear of "omg I said the wrong thing", "am I offending them", "they hate me I know it", "they don't even want me here, why did I come", those are just some examples of what it might feel like for someone that has trouble being in social settings. Even what you said could be the case as well, maybe you just don't feel like going out because it's too much effort to deal with people. Or maybe someone has bad experiences in those settings and it makes them feel uneasy. Hope this helps with where I am coming from:).

I guess something changed. In school i was awkward too, played League since season 2, there wasn't even a BR server, but when league started to become famous (at least in Brasil, and get the own BR server), people started to talk to me about the game, people just came to me to ask for tips and tricks to improve ate the game and climb, people known have the highest elo at school (That low D5 btw that people were like "omg high elo" and i was like "Dude, this elo sucks and i suck too"). A lack of experience during childhood makes it harder to comprehend the concept and value of having friends and socializing. Sounds like me growing up, only advice I'll offer is you do what you love and your passionate about. The right people understand and make the effort. A quote I live by "Those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter" There is over 7 billion people on this planet and a lot that have the same interest as you. There is however effort required from both sides, you may not like going out and spending money on dinner so instead have a thing at home where everyone brings a dish etc... Anyway love your vids, easily one of the best instructors that I relate with on KZbin and have helped me to recognize a lot. Best wishes for the future!

I totally understand you, I haven't made a single friend since 2012 and social situations are really awkward for me. As you said, why spend so many effort into someone when I can be alone in home, enjoying my time, without worries about screw thinks up, or stuff like that? I'd rather do that than meet new people. i feel like the whole "life long friend" thing is a myth, sadly. though if i may quote "in the end its not where we are going or how we get there. its the people we meet and the times that we shared. thats what is important." ive met people in the past some of whom i still consider friends today but we dont talk anymore. life pulls us all in different directions, some people wind up in long lasting relationships while others like us move on alone, but thats okay. the road less travled is hard to walk but we are the only ones who will know what awaits at the end.

That's also me. I was always introverted, not because i wanted to, but because it was a natural cause for me. I still dont have many friends, just one or two, and they have been there since my childhood. It's possible to learn how not to be socially awkward, or handle your anxiety (trust me, i thought i have a heart attack every time i had to go get groceries, for 4 years straight, not even talking about other stuff). It takes alot of patience, time and pain, but it is possible. You can do it! (sorry for the grammar, not a native speaker).

Thanks for sharing Jay. One helpful thing that a friend told me may help you as well. When you are in those awkward social situations, try to find out what their "World of Warcraft" or League of Legends is. What gets the other person excited to talk about. Then you just ask follow up questions and it generally works out pretty well. :) good luck! By the way, I love your videos!

Usually the answer is they like some boring sports like football or soccer. If they start talking about their favorite soccer teams I will literally have a melt down. I have zero interest in sports or e-sports for that matter :d

Jay Sea oh Jay... :) they may have the same reaction to you if you bring up League. However, there are things you don’t know about soccer and football. There are actually quite a number of similarities between team sports and game like league. A lot of athletes are gamers as well, you may find some common ground if you try. Good luck bud!

I totally feel you Jay. I legit used to be like that all the time. Basically I just decided the best way to make friends is to do something that is equally addicting that other people can relate to. Like I chose weightlifting because a lot of the cooler guys at my school did it and I actually ended up making a lot of friends from it. If you do the same I definitely think it will help. I was the same way for runescape and wow btw, now its league.

Same thing. I opened up in university as well. Did bunch of stuff in fact(went to clubs, joined volleyball team, played football(soccer), got into relationships with girls) nobody would believe how quiet and passive I was in highschool if I'd mentioned them. I was the guy who says ''Let's do this or that tomorrow'' between friends mostly. Being away from your family and computer helps up A LOT imo.

Very similar, luckily an outgoing person made friends with me and brought me into more social situations and introduced me to more people. I would say find someone outgoing/social and make friends with them. Being social and having friends doesn't mean spending money. You can just hang out, doesn't need to be expensive.

Well, i am kinda like that. I grew up with a lot of friends but lost connection to pretty much all of them. However, at work people like to hang around me and come over for a little chat and i dont know why since i tend to talk very little. However, i am finding comfort in my little space and i feel happy. I dont question why i am like that. Seems to be working fine :3

Legit same sentiment here. I lost all my friends, I’ve always had many, due to not putting in the effort. I really only need 1 good friend I can do nothing and/or everything with to feel happy and socially fulfilled. Whenever someone tries to befriend me (surprisingly happens often) I always tell them I’m a terrible friend and “you don’t want to be friends with me” but it kind of backfires and they try to disprove it or something? Tell someone not to do something they want it more I guess.

Also introverted and can relate to your story. I met my partner on wow and we now live together and spend our weekends and weeknights playing side by side on our computers. Different games so we don't say much cause were both absorbed in what we do but it's nice to have someone like minded there with no obligation or pressure to talk. Don't give up hope.

Im exactly the same, my friends typically "hangout" by hopping on discord and playing together. You just gotta find people who share your interest. Friends you can talk about and play video games with. Go to PAX you might meet people like that.
