im currently doing me PhD in Atmospheric Science in SNU and i can completely relate to your experience in every aspect. The language barrier is just something you cant deal with. no matter how good you are how well you learn korean, academic korean is not even comparable. i understand korean quite well, but in class there is no difference whether the professor speaks korean or russian cz both are the same for me. what makes it harder is that, our education system in bd can get us good grades but we have too many lacking in understanding concepts. i am struggling a lot here but i dont want to give this up. i began this and i intend to finish even though things are hard. I really pray Allah gives me the strength to reach the very end and graduate from SNU. I would recommend anyone who wants to come korea for higher studies, yes you will get to experience so many things you have always dreamt of but keep in mind that those good experiences will be only 5% of your life. the rest of the 95% is very difficult. consider your mental and physical strength to bear with everything alone, and then take your decision.

Girl you're brave and I'm proud of you! As a current student at SNU, it will be made very clear to any international student that this a Korean University for Korean students only! I hope anyone who considers studying in Korea to check the following prior to applying: 1. Number of international students (its less than 10% at SNU) 2. For muslim students (prayer rooms availability and halal restaurants) 3. Check that the official language of the school is ENGLISH 4. For those going for graduate degrees, check that your lab professor has supervised international students previously and the students actually graduated. If possible, choose a foreign professor. Korea is a beautiful country for tourism and learning Korean language. Wish you all the best!

I remember watching your videos for the first time.. the about the application process, the dorm tour.. To be honest, at first I wished I was a student like you..The high grades, the extraordinary eca, getting accepted in the top uni of a developed country.. everything sounded like a dream and I was like Oh! to be her.. I've always had this desire to study Business in a developed Asian country like Japan, Korea, China and so on. I had my eyes on scholarships like MEXT and GKS.. I am not the top student at my institution but I am not as average as well.. Your videos inspired me so much and I'm positive that they will keep doing so in the future as well. I am a student from SSC batch 2023, the results were out a few days ago and Alhamdulillah I got GPA 5.00. I'm changing my subjects from science to business studies; not because I don't have good grades to get into a good collage or because I think i won't be able to do well with science in intermediate but because it's my life and my choices. I'm doing what I want to do; just like you. I did face a lot of backlash from relatives like why shift to commerce, it's not as good as science and so on. But again at the end of the day it's my life after all. What I'm trying to say is don't be sorry what happened. You took the best decision and as one of your viewer, I'll always be supportive. Take your time. You don't have to make k contents until you're mentally ready for it. We'd love to see a day in the life of a Med Student in BD! Best wishes for your future! You'll be a great doctor. xx

you took the right decision sister because HSC mcq part is so hard and risky, most of students find it very difficult to pass mcq especially physics and chemistry mcq part. Most of them failed because of 1, 2 number difference.

Ah I'm from batch 24 and I really wanted to study commerce cz I wanted to be a business woman. But yk our parents and relatives. Like now I really don't know what my aim is. Cz rn the condition of med students in bd is really poor. Many are graduating but not getting any job. Then what's the meaning of those 5 years you spent and all those struggles. I mean imagine being 30+ and you're still dependent on your parents even after having degrees. I get her points so clearly but honestly.. there's no future in this country as well:) the biggest regret is being born in this country which can't value talent properly

First of all, you said you know korean from 2016 and this is a long period to get a language well so idk how language became a big barrier for you. You already had back up plan or options so you went to korea for get a kdrama type of experience and you should have get through your curriculum before you applied to snu. In this case the mistake was clearly yours. I saw many people go Korea with no korean language skills and did a great job. And you said Korean degree does not hold value in BD. Ofc it won't hold values like MBBS but the reasons you're showing are discouraging for others who want to go Korea for study.

I understand where your reasonings are coming from, but I only got to know that my curriculum was going to be in Korean when I was already admitted and choosing which Professor’s classes I was willing to take. So it was already pretty late. My case is just a slice of my life, of course the experience can be different for others and I totally respect that. I don’t mean to discourage anyone but SNU being their main public university was more Korean language focused than their rest of the other universities. That’s what I wanted to portray, I hope I was clear :)

@neps5017 Жыл бұрын
Don’t bash her. She shared the true facts she faced in Korea, this might be helpful for others who are dreaming of going there. See, you can learn speaking a language but mastering the same language in writing and reading is much more harder. Anyway, korea is not a bed of roses, and far from what it is shown in kdrama. Korea has very few positions left for foreigners, you almost never get a established job there.The number of people getting good jobs there is a fraction just. Please, don't feed your head everything you see online.
@mahmudfaria Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I am surprised they didn’t inform you in any way that the course was mostly in Korean before you started the course or even applied for the course. Normally, if almost all the courses are in Korean the universities would require a certain level of Topik score. Last year I thought I would apply for GKS scholarship in Korea and to be honest I had fair amount of chance of getting it since I also know conversational Korean besides other academics. But after researching a lot I found out that the degree after getting the GKS would be fully in Korean and I realised it was not for me. Because conversational Korean and Academic Korean is two whole different thing. I think you made a great decision considering the odds.

I think you kinda missed out on a big part of researching stuffs..like the courses being in korean..how's the life gonna be there, the academic korean being so different from the conversational one etc etc!! you started learning korean so earlier I would say, I have friends who are currently studying in korea too!! one of them started uni in korea with 0 basics in korean, she had to push herself for like 3years to get to TOPIK5... but I think it's a wise decision to choose a side with many upsides..anyways hope you have great Med School journey!!

Hi, thank you for your honest opinions about SNU and Korea. Your video gives me whole new insights about living and pursuing Korean education. I have some concerns: 1. How do you know the degree in Korea will be useless when you come back to Bangladesh? 2. Did you plan to pursue Master's degree back then at another country or in Korea or any post-graduate plans? If there is any inconvenience in replying those questions, it is ok to not reply them haha. I just be curious and want to know more so that I can also make informed decisions about one of my most life-changing decisions. Thank you

Thank you for this. If God called you back home to Bangladesh, then you must go. However, I wish Korea had more beautiful doctors such as yourself, even if to serve the growing foreign community there since I believe it is people like you who will support a more meaningful and globalized future.

27:21 I was not planning on commenting on this vid, but one particular point compelled me do. A south Korean degree from their top 3 unis is NOT useless outside of korea, infact, it would have a higher value than Bangladeshi degree, or even Indian degrees where im from. It might not be as valuable as top American degrees but its still highly valuable. This is for anyone who wishes to study medicine,art or engineering there.law I don’t know much about as every country has their own law exams u must pass to practice.
@iishikaa_184 ай бұрын
Yes also your Korean mbbs degree from these top colleges allows you to practice medicine in usa nd hold strong value in country like usa but with indian degree u can't

Assalumualaikum! I'm a Bangladeshi-American attending university in America. I've been learning Korean for almost four years. I'm hoping to study abroad as an exchange student in Korea sometime in the future. I noticed that you said that it was difficult to follow your Korean classes. I also heard that you've been learning Korean since 2016. Did you attend the 언어학당(language school) at SNU and/or take the TOPIK exam before starting your classes? I watched another video of a foreign student attending grad school in Korea ("Should You Really Go to Korean Grad School?" by SarahsSeoulSearch), and they said that even TOPIK level 6 (highest level) is not enough if you want to be able to follow your Korean classes. I feel like if you had studied Korean to that high of a level, you probably could have faired a bit better. Whatever it is, I support your decision and hope you'll do okay.

She is totally right. South Korea is not the K-drama that you wach and dream about the life on those K-drama. Studying especially the science is a whole other level. Even if it is aprogram that is in english let's just assume you are in a laboratory where your professor can communicate in english, you will still have to teach yourself if not you will graduate and still come out empty.
