Karibu Kenya 🇰🇪 people do not understand how hard the hustle life is in the US. Their is no social life. No peace, nothing but stress and aggravation. As someone who also left their us government job, I can tell you that money is NOT everything or the most important thing in life. Rural "shargo" kenya is absolutely beautiful 😍 and peaceful. Im learning Kiswahili and the Kenyan culture. Not having to think about your skin color is also a great relief. You can live more peaceful here. There are challenges, it's not some utopia...don't be dumb or naive, but nothing like back home in the US. The lower cost of living is definitely a huge help. I am absolutely more healthy now than my past Popeyes, Shack Shack, restaurant every other day and super stressful life. I actually have time to be a human being here. One thing I would say is if you come here you need to launch a business and try to help the community. Its not easy for introverts, but it is possible. 🎉

You are absolutely right and you sound like a kindred spirit. I love not having to think about my skin color here or whether or not someone said or didn’t something because of the color of my skin. Thanks for tuning in! 😊

Lovely kids. Welcome 🇰🇪. The fitness that comes from dealing with those hills is underrated. I thought I was fit until I visited a place where the local guys were running up and down the hills like it's nothing. The altitude is higher too, which can take time to adjust to. About language, probably better to learn Kiswahili first. More return on investment I think, because you can get by with it in all of Kenya and most of Eastern Africa, including places where French is spoken. Secondly, it's probably easier to find content with subtitles. So you can immerse yourself in content in Kiswahili, with English subtitles, to just develop a natural feel for the language. Kiswahili is also easier to pronounce, and can make learning other Bantu languages easier. Consider looking for apps that can do two-way translations for simple conversations in real-time. About connections with people, that will take a lot of patience. Meanwhile, keep yourself very busy to distract yourself from boredom & loneliness. Hopefully, you'll eventually find that there are quite a few people who grew up or have family there, but live/work elsewhere, but are there often. Or even live around there, but are easier to connect with culturally. I went to college in the US myself, but I grew up in a similar place, cows, tea and all. I have cousins etc all over, so I know such people exist. Channels like "Jael of the village" are good to follow. They show that village life can be productive and dope. @AfroAmericaninAfrica (in Namibia) is a relocation pioneer -- channels like hers can help inspire the resilience/character it takes.

One thing Africans from the diaspora do wrong is , you guys relocate to an African country and get stationary. Travel, Africa is very exciting if you make it your global village. Travel ,go see the wonders out there. There r interesting parts of the continent. If don't you will get stuck in a routine and complain about it. Come to Namibia for holidays, come scale the highest dunes, go see the pyramids, go dine with the indigenous tribes, explore!
