After living in Spain, Poland, and The Netherlands then coming back to the US I felt the exact same way. Reverse culture shock/regression depression. I’m moving back to the EU in the spring and couldn’t be more excited. I feel so much more alive there. The history, architecture, languages, culture, food, and people are so beautiful and interesting. Europe is filled with a soul that I’ve never experienced in America. The grass really is greener on the other side haha. Mad respect to you for feeling the same.

Nice done Monica.(Monika) I wish, that my US born daughter Anita, as well, as my son Adam, would eventually try to follow your steps. Well, at least give it a chance. Both are smart, but I think, that such experience, would give them a chance to explore some other oportunities in this world.

Great story, Monica. Wishing you good luck 30 yrs ago I moved in opposite direction, from Warsaw to California. Times changed, nowadays Warsaw seems like an attractive place to live, as opposed to my boring suburbs. Thinking about moving back, at least for couple months a year.

Great story, Monika! Being born in Poland but living in the US since I was 10, I'm planning on moving my family to Poland most probably Warsaw. Life in the US is so tiring and for the most part boring. I can't wait to move and feel alive again. BTW, I've done very well financially here in the US, but there is so much more to qualify of life than just having money. Warsaw.

Ekonomicznie to różnice nie są nawet dużew skali całego państwa, a jeśli porównujesz Warszawę z inną miejscowością/miastem niż Madryt czy Barcelona to Warszawa wydaje mi się że luźniutko wygrywa.

Monica, My husband and I are seriously considering moving to Poland. I have been researching what life is like in Poland. My husband just visited for work and also met with some distant cousins and loved it. He considered it a lovely modern European country. However, I was concerned when I watched a YT video with a high end real estate agent in which every video had a woman in lingerie prancing around in a sultry way. It was gross! Such a sexist marketing campaign would fail miserably in the states. It is commonly known that women are the target group when trying to sell just about anything, because, ultimately woman are the decision makers. Do you think sexism is predominate in Polish culture? Thanks

Do not know whether to comment or not! Comment is as much about me as what I seem to have heard you relate. Grew up reading in small town CT. Science Fiction, History and Historical Fiction, and other. WW2 stories played a part. Dad was in the Army Air Corp Engineers, for five years mostly overseas. Like most veterans dif not like to talk about it.

Setting the scene. Add the Vietnam War, Kennedy shot (did not happen here) shock, Cuban Missile Crisis, Hippy movement, felt totally liberating to attend....Uconn at Storrs. But loved the International House, and Coffee Houses of the period, enjoyed the Outing Club (then Hiking, Mountaineering, Winter Mountaineering, Canoeing, Lake and White Water, Cave Exploration, took me some distance for the time. Met Communal living people and a couple in a Tipee... I was not brave enough for Europe. My mothers side was Polish, My fathers side Lemko (Lemon was in Austrian Hungarian Empire then Polish then subversion attempts by Russians and Ukrainians and... I have no ear for languages (born with some hearing loss in speech range. If I could have picked up Polish.. Anyway University taught me what I did not want to be and gave me some tools and experience. You seem to have found the same perhaps (though it probably does not feel easier that way to you). Growing up is what we make it. Costs and benefits are not a report card just living. Hope you continue to find wonder and achievement! Feel free to ignore my blather if it makes no sense to you. lol. Been watching riotous for a year or so. Fascinating in a good but Dr Spock (Star Trek) way. It's funny how we can get "stuck" be it countries of our ancestors or heritages, I feel like besides political refugees that's now the most people who somehow left the USA. "I planned a few months - year!" And then they end up stuck in one country or even traveling the World for multiple years. Ooops! Well, I am very much German in Germany, so I always wondered how that would feel like for (me) if I'd ever go abroad for a longer period of time.
