He's done so many great tracks but absolutely love his drumming on Tears For Fears album sowing the seeds of love -- I believe that's him on Year of the Knife ... such a knock out song and amazingly subtle yet over the top drumming. BRAVO!

What blows my mind is Simon played on Judas Priest's 1977 album "Sin After Sin" 🤯.

Saw Simon with Toto in 2013. He shook Chastain Park to its foundations. Love the work he did for the band. ❤

I've known of Simon's work since "Empty glass". I have been a fan of his masterful playing since. I'm really impressed that he keeps the same basic kit setup with the same brand. He has greater consistency than the vast majority of pros who change brands and setups at the drop of a hat. He's masterful in whatever style he plays, and almost always on the SS Phillips.

Simon Phillips has been amazing since early on. I learned about him reading liner notes in the late 70s and seeing him playing on Judas Priest Sin After Sin, a british import I found caught 801 Live, that had Phil Manzanera and Brian Eno from Roxy Music, very experimental then and also Jeff Beck There and Back. Steve Lukather obviously kept track of him when he was the first and only call when Jeff Porcaro passed.

I really would like to hear some insights from Simon about his involvement on Luke's 'Bridges' record - and also maybe if there is some unreleased stuff left over from the albums he recorded with the Guys. I'd love to see him recording some more music with Luke, Dave, Joe & Steve P - be it a new Toto record someday or solo stuff.

Precisamente ese disco de Mike Rutherford ( small creeps days) también es uno de mis tres discos consentidos de todos los tiempos, el otro es 801 de Phil Manzanera ( live ) y el otro puede ser Uno de Génesis o de Brand X ( and then there were....and product of Brand X

At 1:35 Min Luke says "that's not the band I formed". Now he's at the same point, but he goes on. Why?

@@totofan962 in this particular case, he doesn’t have much choice. He has debts he has to pay to Jeff’s widow that he now has to account for, all while being legally unable to release new music under the Toto name without clearing it with her first. And with how big that debt is, he’s basically going to be touring it off until he’s in the grave. This is also why he chose to release what was basically a de facto Toto record as a solo record. If he did that he could side step the legal issue and release more music without it being tied to Toto. I imagine at this point that his mentality is, screw it. Might as well make the best of it. So he surrounds himself with people he likes playing with to make it a more tolerable experience - including ex Toto members who came back - and he’s just riding it out at this point.

John, at the end you asked Simon two questions: What his most special moment was with Toto, and then what is he going to be doing now and in the future? Then you just cut the video after his special moment with Toto and didn't let him answer what he's doing now and what his future projects are...??
