NCR collapsing under the weight of their own imperialist expansion: 😊 NCR collapsing because Todd wants to retcon lore for the show: 😡

Would that not also imply that the legion would also eventually collapse because they are also imperialist expansionists, and also a lot more so than the NCR. I always thought the NCRs downfall was the shoddy beaurocracy that meant it was a disorganised mess and demanded caps from those under its rule but often the beaurocracy meant those caps wouldn't go to defending those people who they are demanding caps from, hence why so many caravanners chose to work with the legion instead

Do you know the name of the video that you reposted known as When NCR was the Greatest Nation, I can't find it

The counterpoint is that Legion money is only backed by an army. NCR money is backed by a state with free healthcare, modes of transportation, a large corporate structure, and a federal bureaucracy. Most totalitarian regimes collapse in only 80 or so years. So, I would expect the Legion’s currency to follow suit once the Legion implodes.

@@jackhallander6706 Legion currency has inherent value (literal gold). Therefore it's future value is not dependent on the fate of the Legion.

@@eternal_disciple3899 Right, it has inherent value, so it has a pretty great shot at remaining in circulation essentially forever (or rather, the gold, bronze, and silver behind it will remain). However, we don’t use Roman currency today. It was turned in, taxed, melted down, and converted into new currencies over the centuries. In fact, from what I understand Roman currency fell from use in the Early Middle Ages. It was simply replaced by currencies from other empires/states. My point is that to base your allegiance to a state based on its currency’s strength is a bad bet, because strength of currency is not equivalent to the strength of the state.

@@jackhallander6706 you still don't get it 🤦🏻♂️ You said it yourself, it was delivered, taxed, MELTED and CONVERTED INTO NEW CURRENCY. The metals used are considered valuable regardless of the stamping on it. Or do you think someone is going to refuse to receive gold or silver just because of the stamping on it??? ALSO, we are talking about fallout, the excuse that Roman currency was stopped from being used in middle ages by other metal based currencies is just senseless especially in a world were caps and barter is common. And speaking of strength of the state, the NCR is a joke, throught all the game you only see it failing and needing the help of the courier to adchive basic things. They are a decadent state that is collapsing on its own excessive expansionism. Rangers and soldiers who live paycheck to paycheck to wait to squander it in a casino or brothel. A state that taxes its citizen but is unable to keep the finds at bay but can finance drug dealers. A state soooo JUST that shots down people for just drinking from las vegas Lake. So no, when the NCR collapses, that paper will only be usefull to light a fire and wipe your ass.
