Most people hate on it because of the bandwagon of it not being cannon. Japan didn't really care that it was not canon and enjoyed GT. Most fans in US sees GT as: If it doesn't have Toriyama written in it then it sucks, those are the worst fans in any fandom in my opinion.

Super 17 might not have been the greatest idea but it was still a way better idea than copy jelly Vegeta.

The execution of Super 17 (two of the same being merging together) was also a lot better than Merged Zamasu. Super 17 was actually a threat over a few episodes, and was beaten through a legit weakness (even though Goku was an idiot to pump him up with multiple Kamehamehas, even after his thick head realized that his ki was being absorbed). Merged Zamasu was a savage in episode 65 until Super Trunks and SSJB Vegeta actually pushed his attack back. Two beings around SSJR Black's level (on average) should not have the upper hand on a fusion between SSJR Black and Zamasu (assuming that Future Zamasu was SSJB-level, though this was unclear in the arc). Episode 66, with Goku vs Zamasu, Vegeto vs Zamasu, and Trunks vs Zamasu was horribly, horribly power-scaled, contrived, and inconsistent. At least Super 17 was said to be vulnerable while he was absorbing energy, which Goku exploited with an OP penetrative attack.

Digito Sure, but Super 17 lasted only a few episodes longer, and was much more entertaining overall (though Goku pumping ki blasts into him as hard as he could as an SSJ and SSJ4, even though he primarily fights by melee, and then killing him in his Base had me hitting my head). Copy Vegeta was just a badly-done parody of Baby.

Pure Rage Zamasu was the poorly redone Baby. Instead of taking over Vegeta's body they chose Goku. Can't believe he even ended up with the white hair. If we don't get the Baby and Zamasu DLC in Xenoverse 2 it will be a travesty. Super and all this new stuff is the Marvelization of Dragonball. Don't get me wrong, that is a good thing but it's gonna eat up a lot of fans that can't enjoy it for what it is.

I just remember watching Gt and always being confused. Mainly because in terms of feats characters have performed they appear so much weaker than in Z or super, yet are still very strong. Primarily when Mr. Satan wasnt vaporized by getting kicked by omega shenron. Yet thats just something small

Terryawn Green oh yeah, thats most of it. I just remember GT annoying me. I can recognize that at times it can be good. But the super 17 arc, pan, and kid goku got to me by the end. Kid goku in dragonball was great, yet for GT after 1-2 arcs of it I got annoyed by it

Black star arc - boring except ledgic and rildo Baby arc - fantastic Super17 - not the best, but cool fight with super17 and ssj4 goku. Shadow dragon - real lack of characters usage here , starts off slow but gets really good with the last 3 dragons along with a great ending. Overall - 7/10 for me - good anime.

Me: DB: 10/10, best use of characters, best fights, has the best feeling, of adventure, characters were lovable, and it was pure fun! DBZ: 7.2/10. The series has great fights, the Frieza Saga was the best in the Z portion, and Gohan, Piccolo, and Vegeta go through good character development! The thing that brought this down was the oversaturation of SSJ transformations, the underused of a good portion of the characters, the Majin Boo Saga was a self parody of itself. Akira Toriyama purposely made a lot of ass pulls in the Majin Boo Saga so the franchise could die. DBGT: 5.5/10. It's enjoyable. Nice, but not great. DBS: 4.5/10. Lmao, this shit just was laughable at a lot of points. Unneeded concepts introduced, characters are even more under used, confusing plot devices, Plot Hole, after plot hole, etc.

I can't believe finally after like 20 years I've found someone who shares my opinion on GT. I really like GT. And I consider it to be a little truer to Dragon Ball than Dragon Ball Z, in that there's a better meshing of comedy, adventuring and fighting than Z. This video is a rare find!

Nuova Shenron is one of my favorite characters honestly. I love the fact that out of all the pure evil from the black star Dragonballs a dragon came out who just wanted a fair fight and wasn't evil. Also the fact he's the original 4-Star Dragonball the most important of the dragonballs.

I'll just copy and paste this here... "The only arc in Super I would say has great ideas is the Future Trunks Arc, the first 3 arcs I barely even consider stories, same goes for the Super 17 arc, the difference there is that Super 17 took up 6 episodes and the first 3 arcs of Super (4 counting that shitty Copy Vegeta filler) took up 46 episodes of this series that's over 3/4, and the parts where the Future Trunks arc failed on were key moments that (for me) would make or break the arc. GT had amazing ideas that were used to make serviceable arcs that aimed low and never hit their full potential, Super had NO ideas for 46 episodes, and then for the Future Trunks arc they aimed for the stars and instead blew up like the fucking Challenger! That is why I think GT is okay (only okay) and that Super is just BAD!"

I think the entire series (AFTER Dragon Ball) was defined by "great concepts, poor execution". More so GT and Super, but Z was also guilty of this in places.

Honestly The Only Parts about super I liked were the 6th Universe Tournament, Trunks Arc, Multiverse Survival Arc Tournament, And Thats it. Rest of it was kind shit, filler was at least good this time. Universe 6 Tournament was good but making Frost a villain was so pointless and predictable, talk about racist. Future Trunks arc was awesome but the power scaling made 0 sense. Multiverse Survival Arc was fucking incredible. I loved every new introduced character(especially Universe 2’s folks), The Fights and the animation!

ChargerE1 He is a lot more stupid in Dragon Ball. And in Z you do not see him on his off time like you do in DB and Super. Also Gokus stupidity is sometimes over played in Super in the filler episode but he isn't dumb. For example, Goku sees Chi Chi during the fight with Satan and decides to fake him getting punched, given he didn't do it the most believable way but that wasn't what he was trying to do, he just wanted to make a fuzz so he could escape Chi Chi. The only time Goku has been truly dumb in Super is the episode where Beerus is in Monaoas costume. Other than that Goku is actually more in character than he was in Z. As average as super is, if it is one thing they are nailing it is the characterizations.

I think Goku is also stupid in Z. I mean, come on, letting Vegeta live turned out for the best in the end, but only because Freeza was a thing. If Freeza hadn't been there Vegeta would have simply healed up in a tank and come back with a zenkai boost while everyone was still in the hospital. It was pure dumb luck. Letting Jeice get away on Namek, and then being far too naive against Ginyu was really stupid too, he got his body stolen. It was only because of zenkai and pure luck that it actually turned out into an advantage, but it was a dumb decision. Then he lets Freeza live several times even after Freeza tried to destroy Namek. In the Cell arc he gives a Senzu to Cell, (it's not even your fight anymore dude, you're just risking the life of your only son for some BS reason). He could have taken that Senzu himself, got a small zenkai, and then defeated a weakened Cell, or at least dealt sufficient damage to Cell that if he were to die, Gohan and the others would have a better chance of finishing him off. And that's not even talking about what he does in the Buu arc, where he happily goes fighting with Vegeta for fun, risking Buu to come back, and then he goes happily not kill Fat Buu to give a 7-year-old and an 8-year-old a chance of a fun fight against the freaking terror of the universe, risking the fate of the entire universe, and then after Buu has killed almost everyone and absorbed Gohan, he's stupid enough as Vegetto to risk losing everything by getting absorbed on purpose to save some others even though they have freaking Dragon Balls to bring them back. After that, when Buu destroyed the Earth, he is still stupid enough to take it easy on Buu to give Vegeta a shot, he is still stupid enough to decide not to fuse with Vegeta right after the two of them were completely helpless when Buu decided he was bored with Earth. the possibility that Buu could just blow up the Kaioshin planet if he got bored or in trouble doesn't even occur to him even then. So yes, Goku is an idiot in Z.

Honestly, I liked GT. Kid Goku never bothered me, liked the backstory for Baby, the shadow dragon concept was also brillant as it showed the dragonballs (the reset switch) had consequences for overusing them, I even liked the fan service for the super 17 arc, showing cameos of old villains. Truth be told, GT is a very underrated series. The stories are consistent, it felt like a real epilogue to Z and it still advanced the story while being true to previous concepts from the prequel series'

Ultimate Spoopynator Well Kai isn't bad like Super. But, I don't know about all of you but I'm not the Dragon Ball fan that learned how to read Japanese just to read the first edition comics. I'm no DB scholar. I grew up with the English Dub and if anything stuck with me, it was the one liners and the power scaling that even my 12 year old head could understand. Kai kinda ruined a lot of that, but I'm sure the Japanese Kai is a lot better than the English Dub Kai.

I've grown to really appreciate GT in my adulthood. I love that it mirrors DB and Z, starting w/ globetrotting if DB/universetrotting of Frieza ark, Space threat involving saiyans, new transformation, Androids/absorption, and the fusion of Vegeta and Goku. I agree, originally HATED the Para Para Bros, but now I think that they're fun and fairly unique. One thing people keep bringing up about Super is that "we have all these new universes to explore!" And I just think, "GT took us to new worlds and I would've loved to see more. We aren't even done exploring THIS universe, why do you need to see what some guy who looks like Frieza is up to in a different one?"

I like GT for all the basic reasons. SSJ4 and how Goku got it, Baby is a villain who has a perfectly good reason to do what he is doing,and it's beautiful ending. Here are some things that I would add that would satisfy ME, and would make GT better for ME. 1. Adult Gotenks ( why that wasn't there in the first place...) 2. Vegeta getting SSJ3 and change how he got SSJ4. Vegeta would never cheat to get a form, using a fucking machine he would never do that. He can make his own moon to turn ape, just wish for his tail back and boom. 3. Super Android 17 vs Super Android 18. Get this... 17 badly damages 18 and Bulma fixes her up and makes her powerful as fuck and have her fight her brother. I would like 17 to join the Z fights as well. 4. Everyone will be relevant. This is on everyone's list on how to make GT better but here's my list of Z fighters who I want to see Goku- kid for one arc but adult for the rest of the time Vegeta- can go SSJ3 Pan- can go SSJ Piccolo- no unnecessary death, Uub- be more useful Gohan- still studies but finds time to train Goten Trunks- less of a bitch, the mechanic of the group Android 17- Realize his wrong doings and how he's hurting his sister and joins Z fighters Android 18

Kevin Jackson Wish his tail back? How? He's gonna ask Omega Shenron? Lol. A lot of people don't understand Vegeta didn't cheat. The Saiyan space pods already has an artificial moon generator in them just in case the Saiyan couldn't make a moon. And Vegeta couldn't get his tail back before Omega killed everyone. Nobody gives Vegeta any credit for turning SSJ4. The machine only made Vegeta grow his tail back and go Great Ape. He had to go Golden Great Ape, win back the fight for his sanity against his primal instincts, and then achieve SSJ4

Kevin Jackson It was stated that Gotenks wouldn't be strong enough to fight Baby, so he wouldn't be able to help in a fight. It's not like Goten and Trunks were weak either. Piccolo's death had a lot of meaning as he ended the use of the Dragon Balls forever. Bulma can't just make 18 as strong as 17 lol. 17 was stronger than Super Baby Vegeta 2 before he absorbed any ki. Gohan did keep training. It was stated he kept training for all 15 years of peace

RubinNischara I enjoyed evil shenlong I found that the most intersting and emotional one because I was 7 when I watched gt and when the lava dragon guy (cant remember his name xD) died by shenlong I just cried xD too emotional for a 7 year old xD also the ssj4 gogeta was also really well designed and good looking.Also when majin buu and uub fused and fpught shenlong I cried again since hercule could never see majin buu again...;-; still hurts me.in my opinion im gonna say evil shenlong arc an 8, black star a 6 baby 8, cyborg 17 6 (I ythought this arc was cool as a kid ok)

I'll give GT credit for having creative villains, even though the execution could have been better and I'm not a big fan of Goku being a kid again...at least not for the entire series. It would have been okay if it had only been for one arc. The biggest problems with Super are the animation, which has gotten better over the last two arcs but still has problems, rushing through the arcs too much and the fact that it took four arcs to finally have a legitimate villain. Beerus and Hit weren't true villains even if the fights were entertaining and Golden Frieza was kind of a joke.

GT is more consistent than Super.. but the problem of gt in my opinion is the main characters.. goku being a child and never fixing that in the all series left a bad taste in our mouths.. Pan is annoying as fuck and sticks to be relevant for the whole series without switching focus on the other characters.. animation in gt is decent but for some reason the characters is a lot shorter than they are in Z.. and that annoyed the shit out of me.. ssj4 is one of the best concepts of the the series but I wish it was called something else to characterize it's uniqueness, something like ssj ozaro. I enjoyed gt with all these annoying things.. but I feel like I'm enjoying super more even with all of the inconsistencies it has.. maybe in the future when the series ends I change my mind lol

I always liked GT I do Black Star was okay annoying at times but General Rildo fight was awesome. Bebi Arc was incredible I love the villian the fights were awesome also the whole tail sence was hilarious. Super 17 good fight but the whole Cyborg 18 thing was a little heart breaking. Shadow Dragons I liked them all the dragon anywyas my personal favourites are the Princess Shenron(mainly because the wish that birthed her is so god damn hilarious) and Nouva Shenron just because he was for a lack of a better word for it cool all he cared about was the fight nothing else mattered and of course I like Syn and Omega I actually thought Syn entrance was really cool and kind of intimidating. so yeah I like GT has it facts but the concepts and humour make it okay in my book

The darker and edgier even creepy feel of GT immediately gripped me when I was a kid. I was actually surprised when I heard that a lot of people hated GT. They went with something different and it didn't stick with the mass audience but it sure did for me at least.

I personally enjoyed GT myself. DBGT to me is the anime equivalent of movie sequels like RoboCop 2, Predator 2, Heavy Metal 2000, and Jurassic Park III in the sense that they're underrated sequels that I like despite the critical reception. Good video as usual, Zeon.

After ep 66 of Super and the stupidly bad power scaling, there is no way someone can try to argue that Super is still better than GT. The Zamasu arc was horribly convoluted, and Zamasu's motives didn't even make coherent sense. GT at the very least does.

Gt ending is the best ending of all Dragon Ball hands down.It felt(and was) the end of Dragonball series.They later did Super as they saw DB was still very popular but at that time it was the end without any thoughts of continuing it.I ve seen both the original and the dub and i realised why mostly americans(or people who have seen it only in dub) hate it.Its because they twisted the story and the whole vibe of the series.For example last episode of GT in original and in dub its like watching completely different episodes

GT had good ideas for the most part but they were not executed very well. Though I did like the moment when Vegeta admits the Earth as his home openly when all hope seems lost in the omega shenron fight. Dont know why but that one moment made GT very special to me. That and GT's ending was quite amazing too. Did GT had bad moments?? Yes. But it also had a lot of good moments too :)

I gotta agree with what he said about the repurposing of Filler...and it's a bit of an unpopular opinion, but I actually kind of like Dragon Ball Z's filler; I actually think that certain filler sagas were better than the actual Manga Fillers, mainly because they had the potential to be great, that was somewhat left untapped, whereas the Anime had to follow the strictest guide-lines. Me personally; I've recently thought that the Garlic Jr. Saga was a bit underrated as - having recently rewatched it - I actually enjoyed it a lot more than when I was a kid. There was something that was refreshing about the Saga, after so long of Goku - and sometimes Vegeta - being around to save the day. Now Gohan, Krillin and Piccolo were put into a bad situation, with no one else to help them...And Garlic Jr. basically comes close to conquering the world- literally closer than any previous villain had. But what really gets me about that arc is what Vegeta was doing - but that's a rant for another time. Dragon Ball GT excels at the idea of re-purposing old ideas, and making them the focus of entire arcs. For example - the Shadow Dragon Saga - literally the entire concept for that saga, came from a Throw-Away Line that Old Kai gives during the prelude to the Kid-Buu fight; chastising Goku and Vegeta for using them, as he believes the Dragon Balls oppose the natural order, and can be dangerous. GT actually followed up on that warning.......instead of Super...which features the Dragon Balls being used to fucking ask questions, and even has PLANET-SIZED varieties of them. The Natural Order is Boned.

For me, GT has nostalgic value. The first time I saw it as a kid I definitely knew I didn't like it as much as Dragon Ball Z/Kai, but it was still enjoyable to watch. You're absolutely right about the goofy stuff, the Para Para brothers reminded me of the Ginyu Force, who I will always love because of their theme in kai. I'm also a sucker for Spirit Bomb finales. I still have yet to watch it in japanese, so I don't have to listen to that ATROCIOUS dub music (even though in a weird way it's still catchy).

The super 17 arc could have been rock solid. The idea of Dr.Gero and Dr. Myuu meeting in hell and creating the ultimate machine mutant android, then invading the earth from hell and resurrecting all past villians in the process to get revenge is absolutely amazing. Honestly, that would be an awesome dragonball movie and would make millions. But like I said the execution of the arc wasn't the best. They didn't show enough of the past villians and didn't show the ones they did long enough. Also, if they were gonna make a super 17, they should have made a super 18. Also, Frieza and Cell should have been revived as well.

I loved GT as a kid and I rewatched it several times and I honestly think people are way too hard on it. Super saiyan 4 is super cool and gets lots of screen time. Kid Goku was funny and brought back necessary nostalgia. And that ending gets me every time. It should've gotten a 3rd season

One thing GT has that wasn't mentioned is it's background music. Akihito Tokunaga did some amazing work. It felt fresh and different from the Kikuchi score from Z but still managed to fit in the DragonBall universe.

As much as Super 17 wasn't that great, I think his origin does start with an excellent idea. Gero and Myuu, the smartest villains, putting their heads together IN HELL to form a plan to kill Goku from hell, and possibly escape themselves. Even though Super 17 himself didn't develop into anything particularly great, that idea is awesome.

Dude, Zamasu was garbage. It was so bad, Goku black had a cool design, but it was altogether so bad. Zamasu is the worst villain ever and has the worst motivations to do bad things. Honestly Zamasu's intentions are completely plot based. There needs to be someone doing bad things so the good guys can stop him, however Zamasu's reasons are GARBAGE and lazy. "Human's are bad because they disagree, sooo I'm gonna kill them all. Like, all of them, fuck em." Then, he continues to reinforce this by just stating it over, and over, and over again.

I agree the baby arc is extremely underrated. I love when Goku is on the Supreme Kaioshin planet and they have to pull his tail out XD. Also that Super Saiyan 4 transformation from the ozaru scene (one of the only times pan is useful) gives ya the feels. The concepts are great but the execution (for the series as a whole) is the problem.

The fight with Baby was amazing, the Golden ape idea, SSJ4 transformations are awesome, SSJ4 is awesome. Super 17 saga was trash just as the ROF saga (close to it), Shadow dragons saga was shit and a rip off from Dragon Ball, the fight with Frieza and Cell was an insult to the franchise and it was shameful. Goku turning to a kid was a bad idea in my opinion. And anybody else who isn't Goku gets trashed. Also superhuman feats are bad....Goku in base form that should be around SSJ3 Z Goku can't prevent a building from crushing. Cool video.

I do not get why they did not implement a concept like Dbz Super after GT. It would for one bring back the focus on the Yellow/Green eyed forms knowing they still have a 4. They can learn new moves and such..even the God form would be possible since the focus is alot on their base power and advanced forms. I do not get why they chose a earlier point in time to bring it all up apart from Goku basically being dead after GT. But really it would have been just as easy and far more interesting to have done this after GT to eventually see them cut loose in a all new and improved SSJ4 form. Combined with the God power. All they did now is provide fanbase fodder for new games and endless discussions on who is stronger. Like they never died before and brought back to life. As the dragonballs feel mostly ignored in Super.

If vegeta hair wasnt cut. Goten had his end of Z hair. Trunks, Goten,(able to go up to ssj3 separately and if nit to much to train to ssj4 only if it makes sense) and Uub were used more . Vegeta had a moment to shine (maybe towards the end). And he naturally obtained ssj4(maybe even before goku, it would be very different). It would be a beautiful 6/10 ----> 9/10 series

I'll say this. GT is a much more consistent product that Super and doesn't feel like a toy commercial every episode. It was produced as a sequel to DBZ with brand new designs and stories that build on the lore of DBZ. Super just feels like it was meant to sell toys to young Japanese kids and adults who watch it for nostalgia.

I like the idea of Dr. Myuu and Dr. Gero meeting/teaming up in hell, but I always wished they made a brand new android from the ground up as opposed to the already existing Android 17. That's my hang up with Super 17. He had some awesome abilities and techniques, however it would feel much more natural if they made a fresh new android character from a clean slate. That would be cool.

Dude... I'm so happy I saw this video. FINALLY! Someone who agrees with me on everything great about GT. My friends all pick on me for standing by it so vehemently but you have to appreciate it for the cool ideas that it brought to the table. Baby, in particular, is a highlight of the show. My personal favorite thing about is that it's got a totally vaporwave aesthetic. Dan dan kokoro hikareteku is my favorite OP of any dragon ball series for that reason.

GT and the prequal trilogy of star wars have alot in common. Both get blind hate from their communities and they refuse to acknowledge any good concepts that came out from them besides a couple. They're both ignored by their owners because of the blind hate from the communities and this they refuse to touch any good concept brought to the table in fear of backlash. Both are great concepts done with poor execution, and had they've been given better treatment they would be legendary status.
