You had mentioned that the Tamron 28-75 was slower. I'm curious if you tested it with the latest firmware? I own the Sony 28 along with the UW adapter and am now considering switching to the Tameron based on the amazing reviews. The posts that I have watched mentioned a firmware upgrade that made a huge difference in the Tamron. I could very well be selling both the Sony 28 and the UW adapter after shooting 100 pics and putting my $$ towards the Tamron..
@eduardoarias_photo5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I believe the Tamron 28-75 I have already came with the latest firmware update. It's version 2. But the AF speed on the Tamron is not bad at all, I just definitely notice a small difference with the Sony 28mm and in my opinion I think any native lens is going to perform better than 3rd party lenses. That's the case with the Tamron. It's not terrible in any sense, I just simply can see a difference between the two.
@jackbisson92264 жыл бұрын
They came out with version 3 on January 29th 2019, three days after this video was posted. You should test at a camera shop that has a demo with version 3 firmware. Sony is the second largest share holder of Tamron and I believe shares their auto focus code with them now. I think Tamron is the only third party lens company that is in this position.

Eduardo, I face myself on the same situation... I had the tamron 28-75 to use in the gimbal, I didn't like it at all when comes to autofocus performance, and returned it. My question is: Does the 28 f/2 performance better in autofocus speed and accuracy than tamron? I am about to purchase the 28 f/2 to replace the tamron
@eduardoarias_photo4 жыл бұрын
I would say that yes, I have noticed that it is a bit faster and smoother than the Tamron. But before you spend money on another lens check your auto focus settings and change them around on your camera to see if that helps. For example on my A7iii in settings on page 6/14 the AF Track Sensitivity I have as 5 (Responsive).

@eduardoarias_photo5 жыл бұрын
I don’t think so. Not for real estate. Simply because for real estate you need a wide lens to be able to show off the entire space of a room or yard etc. and with this lens you wouldn’t be getting enough in the frame to show off a space properly.

I think you could help me with my decision. I just got my sony a7iii and i'm debating weather if i should get a tamron 28-75mm 2.8 or a pair of sony prime lenses (28mm f2 and 55mm zeiss 1.8). Is the tamron reliable with AF? would it be a considerable difference of sharpness,bokeh and AF between those two sony lenses against the tamron ?. I want the quality and reliability that prime lenses gives, but I can't ignore how convenient it would be to have all in 1 lens. I wonder if you're satisfied with it, what would you do if you were me ?
@eduardoarias_photo5 жыл бұрын
Initially that is what I did. I bought two prime lenses to go with the a7iii and I quickly realized that for video a zoom lens would come in very useful because you have one lens that can change focal lengths. Afterwards I got the Tamron 28-75 for video work and it made my work easier because I could leave one lens on my camera and shoot wide and zoom in when needed as oppose to having to swap out lenses every 5 minutes or so for different shooting situations. So if you are looking for a lens that can pretty much do it all and you are ok with an f stop of 2.8 then I say go for the Tamron. For me it has been relaible when it comes to AF, just have to make sure you change some AF settings in the menus of the camera. Sharpness I cannot notice any difference and bokeh obviously is going to be a bit less given the fact that it is f2.8 versus f2 on the 28mm or f1.8 on the 55mm. Whichever way you look at it each choice has pros and cons. The Primes will give you faster lenses, better low light performance, they are native so will work better with a Sony camera, lighter. The major con I see going with the primes is that you will have to swap out lenses on a regular basis if you are the sort of person that can't shoot at only one focal length for a long time like me. For the Tamron Pros you have that it is one lens that allows you switch between different focal lengths which saves time and space in your camera bag, f stop of 2.8 which is still great for low light especially on a zoom lens. But then again that f2.8 can also be seen as a con when comparing it to the 2 primes you are also considering. So I would say it all boils down to what your needs are for a lens and how you feel about the difference in f stops.
@cheloronaldo5 жыл бұрын
@@eduardoarias_photo Would you recommend me to sell my two prime lenses (sony 28mm and zeiss 55mm 1.8) to get a tamron 28-70?
@eduardoarias_photo5 жыл бұрын
@@cheloronaldo It's hard to say. If you feel comfortable using the primes and like the results you are getting from them then I say keep them. But if you really want to give the Tamron a test, find a local camera shop near you that will let you rent it out for a day so you can see how you get along with the Tamron compared to the primes.

I am currently using the A7RIII for photography and the sharpness of 28mm at f2 is just not usable whenever your subject isn’t at the center of the frame. You can only get satisfying IQ from edge to edge when step down to f2.8 or so. I think it would be great to get a Tamron 28-75 for general shooting and 55 ZA when it’s in low light situation.
