It depends how you define "live" and what city or town you end up in. Also how old you are, whether you have or can get health insurance, and what you like to eat and do. And, do you plan ot have a car etc.? If you are just talking about a very basic life style than yes in some cities.

I lived in Querétaro back in 2019 when I was teaching English at a language school there. Everything you mentioned is spot on! It’ll always have a special place in my heart ❤️ Also, Querétaro is only a short 3 hour bus ride to CDMX. It’s a very convenient location. 😊

Hi jordan. I have been under the impression that finding a rental (especially for 6 months) is difficult there. Realtors don’t make enuf commission for 6 month rentals AND property owners are reluctant to rent w/o residency credentials. Of course, one can struggle to find alternative ways to locate a rental. What hope can you give? Walking streets looking for rental signs and asking strangers for leads could be exhausting. Thanks for any candid comments. :)

Are there dangers here? Yes. Are most Americans far more scared than they should be? Yes. My favorite author who has literally driven around the entire world twice says it's always the same... In every place he visits the people say "you don't have to worry, it's safe here, but don't go over there because it's not safe there" then he goes "over there" and they say the exact same thing "no, no, no, it's safe here but don't go to (insert next place)." It's the same all over the world, people are afraid of the unknown.

I want to thank you very much for recommending Queretaro. I have been to 10 states in Mexico over 3 years, searching for the perfect place to settle long term. My favourite place used to be San Cristobal, Chiapas. But I kept getting violently ill there due to the disgusting and toxic water system contaminating every kind of food in restaurants and markets. I had to leave. I finally came to Queretaro because of your recommendations and without a doubt it is my favourite place in Mexico. The friendliest and most helpful people. A wide variety of restaurants and markets with amazing food. Clean, safe streets. The most beautiful centro. The best weather. And they have golf courses! It’s perfect. I’m staying here. Wondering about the morning temps in the winter and possibly spring and fall. Since the climate is dry, I imagine it can be pretty cold in the morning. And I'm not someone who likes to stay in bed under covers. :) So, wondering what yours, Jordan, and other commenters' experiences have been. Are space heaters effective? And safe? Thanks.

So many interesting places that I didn’t know existed before I started vacationing in Mexico and watching videos like this.

Glad to hear you like the food options in QRO, it's one of the few "iffy" things I have heard about it. Been coming and going to GDL past two years and restaurant quality is a top reason to be here. But the negatives of such a large city are getting to me so I am looking at Aguascalientes and Ensenada very soon, perhaps Queretaro will be in the cards after the rainy season.

I used to think that about the food options in Queretaro, it's just that I hadn't discovered enough good options. Now my list of options that I love is very, very long.

Just moved back from GDL. Love it there, but the city life got to me also.
