You really reveal yourself here--although I don't know how many noticed. You obviously cared very much for your addict and you revisit that struggle and happy ending with this book, as if it were a box that could hold the experience. It's encouraging to see this humanity; thanks for sharing. I haven't seen many videos but I can't imagine a better one.

I love the discussion about symbolism. This is a book that deserves a re-read from me. It was so many years ago I read it. Definitely putting it on my radar for a re-read.The paintings in this edition are gorgeous!

Definitely! It was still recent in my mind, yet I still loved it so much the second time around. And agreed! I am so in love with this edition!

Misery’s return is a misery to slog through in the midst of a very good book.

One of King’s finest peak novels. Annie as his addiction metaphor is powerful, but she is also an analog to how toxic his fanbase was to the novel “Eye of the Dragon”. Yes King has disputed that but there is a strong case. And the movie is equally brutal though considerably toned down from the book in some of Annie’s torture methods

Getting over an addiction is good for character development, creates an interesting story line.

true. when someone is in the midst of the addiction they aren't grateful for it, but hopefully when all is said and done they can see the silver linings

I've been grateful for it in my life because it helped me be aware of certain things in my personality that I have tried to improve and change. Without addiction in my life I may have never noticed these things about my self, or at least not as quickly

@@WhytheBookWins that’s very true, like a different view point on life. Glad you are recovering, stay well.

@@sleepisthecousinofdeath7395 my experience is actually coming from having a close loved one who struggled with addiction. But they are sober now and doing well
