I really enjoyed your take on Shakespeare -your love for your favorite plays came through loud and clear. My journey with Shakespeare began with A Midsummer Night's Dream, an edition abridged for children and illustrated, that I read around fifth grade. (King Lear is not my favorite either - I read it for last Shaketember.)

I bet every British town has a Canadian equivalent. We weren't that creative in the 1800s. Even Toronto used to be York before it was changed back to it's original name. Stratford's name is actually why it has the festival, it was a railway city that was facing economic disaster as steam declined but a journalist had an idea to capitialize on the name and start performing Shakepeare to try to create a new industry around arts and tourism and 70 years it's a staple of Canada. It's such a fun origin!
