I live in Austria Vorarlberg and we are literally surrounded by ski resorts. During the season we go skiing every weekend. Sometimes even 2 or 3 times a week. Resorts are 40 min max by car. Not having to take off of work and go for ski vacation once or two times a year is just a blessing. Im so thankfull for that.

Sounds like you live in a beautiful part of the world Hasan! We hope you had a great time out on the slopes this season 👍

@@CarvSki Vorarlberg is really beautiful and i wouldnt want to leave here. If you havent ever been here i strongly recommend everyone to visit the alps. Especially if you are a skier. And yeah it was a great season. Many crashes but no injuries 😃 thats the most important thing when it comes to skiing. I like your content so stay safe and keep up 👍

She is exactly right! We've been struggling with the new shaped skis trying to keep our legs close together. She makes so much sense - stop holding the legs so close together - shoulder width and let the skis do their job. I can't wait to go back up the mountain and try this out!

I felt the same with speed skates, that when you shift slowly your weight to another push, that transition you can make so smoothly that it felt like flying freely. I have found that same feeling with skis too. Skiing is and has been the only sport that I have had a laugh while doing it. And believe me I have done many many sports.

You hit the nail on the head exactly, Kaylin! I'm 53 and I learned to ski on straight skis, no shapes or parabolics, I was always to told to keep my legs close together. With that in mind, I got mixed results with shaped GS skis, I either wanted to fall over, wash-out, or if I did happen to carve, the skis would snap and sling shot me out of the turn, too fast. Worst case scenario, I would just end up smearing, instead of carving. I overlooked the obvious, thank you for the instruction!

@@CarvSki Love your vids - you have the same teaching philosophy that I do - teach the "old fashioned" basics first - snow plowing, stem turns, skid turns, etc ( yes, I was a racer back in the late '60's/early '70's, but not at the level you obtained!), but was away from skiing for 35 years. Once back into it, I was surprised to see so many beginners being taught carving almost immediately, but nothing that would allow them to get down blues or blacks safely if they made the mistake of getting on one! Using your vids now to help a beginner to start visualizing things. Keep up the good work!

How experienced skier I need to be before starting to learn carving style?
@CarvSki5 жыл бұрын
Great question Joke, To take your skiing to the next level up and start carving, one must first feel confident linking parallel turns without slipping back into a snow plow. The speed of progression varies vastly among skiers, so take it at your own pace, use these great tips from Kaylin and make sure you enjoy the experience of developing your ski technique!

I'd say not too easy for beginners unless you have a low traffic/private slope available and a month to practice.
