My Hero Academia: You're Next just hit theaters here in the U.S. and I ventured out to see it at my local theater. Now I'm back to review the movie and give my full spoiler thoughts on it and how it compares to the other three movies!

that final smash that Deku hit Dark Might with was insane, he didn’t even hit Shiggy with a smash that dirty😭

I understand having to not damage Deku's costume but I can't be the only one thinking it was ridiculous that he walked off being drilled into a stone wall by dark might

4:40 That's a huge nahhh for me. Yes, you say run(next, It's our turn is the official name) is iconic in mha, and i also love it whenever it plays. But the trinity (name of the final battle ost) is top tier 👌 i really thought that the final battle is over when they play, you say run, and i was like, "That's it?!!" And then they start playing the new ost and my hair are all standing i was so hype out during the final battle it was so cool and the ost is fitting i think i like it more than you say run and might+u. Any thank you for this wonderful review.

I absolutely agree, it gets too predictable sometimes when the final boss has their desperation mode. I genuinely thought it was over and then was treated to several more minutes of absolute insanity.

4:46 I think “Next, it’s our turn” that’s the name of the music fits well with what was being shown, because Deku is technically saying it’s his turn but is putting a spin on it because of the resolution during the Dark Hero Arc, and showing Dark Might the true meaning behind All Might’s words in his last stand

For some reason, I couldn’t stop comparing that Flying Fortress and it’s inferior to the crystal palace in Pokémon The Movie 3… Is it just me, or did anyone ELSE get that vibe?

with the music he was talking about during the battle me and my friend in the theaters where silently arguing whether it'd be a 2 part movie , the music definitely threw us of too

For me the best One was the second one. I think that nine is the best villain. For me Dark Might and hus family didn’t really felt like villains for me. In total I don‘t know if I like this one more than the first one but the end scenes was definitely worth it. It was cool that Shoto Deku und Bakugo had theyre moment in the end together.

For me the first was the worstC but that doesn’t mean it was bad at all. I just think the others had a more compelling narrative & action, but that’s a sign of Bones’ quality at making movies.

I just got out of the theater a few hours ago from watching it! Which was an incredible experience all in its own right but here’s my thoughts on the movie: Definitely my favorite of the four. While each of them are amazing in their own ways, You’re Next reuses these plot elements and imo turns them up to eleven in all the right ways. It had an amazing mix of action along with heartfelt moments! Personal example for action being as you’ve put it once we get running right from the start we keep going until the very end which feels really fitting for the Mha world. An example for heartfelt would definitely be the dreams sequence as well as flashbacks to Giuliano and Anna’s past together. I think they’re an incredibly sweet duo and they absolutely have my heart. I will agree with you that we needed more unbrainwashed Anna screentime tho! It was sad that we only ever saw her screaming and yelling for her life whenever she wasn’t brainwashed tho…(which ofc I can’t blame her for at all given her situation) And I’ll admit, I wasn’t looking forward to this movie at first because of the Evil All Might idea, but now that I’ve seen it and fully understand I can wholeheartedly say Dark Might is definitely my favorite movie villain next to Nine. Overall 10/10 would see again.

I agree, it was really great. Class A didn’t have as much time in that really cool dungeon made by the DM guy (which is one of the coolest & most funny quirks ever being just a DM), but it was definitely better than the first movie. I feel like the 3 succeeding movies are all better than the first, which is a sign of Bone’s quality at making anime-original content. I give them a lot of flack for how they adapt Hori’s work, but they are great at making their own stuff.

Spoilers for the movie When Gulio was going to save Anna, I lowkey expected him to have a quirk awakening, but hey I’m not dissapointed with what happened.

Hmmm, i think i like the movie plot more. Because of the idea that Guilio is compatible with anna this whole time, she could have used her quirk to amplify guillio's quirk and completely neutralize her entire quirk. But guilio didn't ask her to use it in him because it's either he doesn't know that they are compatible or he just doesn't like the idea of using anna and hurting her in the process which absolutely makes sense for me considering how much he value anna. But it would be cool if deku is compatible with anna and gets the quirk awakening, so it's gonna be like the fight between Overhaul and deku combine his quirk with eri.

I only have one complaint that I could really dig deep into but I will simply say this. Dekus power level seemed VERY inconsistent throughout the movie. He seemed REALLY weak sometimes (up until the final Nakamura sequence ofc) but Todoroki and Bakugo seemed to be able to hold their own against Dark Might better than Deku could and thats INSANE. I still loved the movie but as a huge Deku fan it's really bugging me how Deku got nerfed for the plot because I wanted Dark Might to see Deku as an actual threat and for them to have an epic 1 on 1 battle with Bakugo and Todoroki each having their own epic battles with the top henchmen like what happened in movie 3 😭 That's just me tho. But aye overall, MHA is still yet to miss with a movie because there are still things that I really liked about this film and each film truly feels unique.

Had no idea this movie was out already. Went in to see it on a whim (and accidentally ruined a couple's date, with total of us 3 people in the entire theater). Without sharing details, for me, the movie is worse than the previous 3 and feels most " irrelevant spinoff" of them all. It's got recycled plot points from old seasons and even other movies, the music is poorly picked and sprinkled and the side characters are all bland, forgettable and unlikeable cardboard cutouts compared to earlier installments. It also has the high budget animation scenes packed with moving parts where you can't really tell what's happening, money well spent on a visual spectacle, but all it does is confusing the audience. Some positives: I liked that Tokoyami gets recognition and is an honorary adjacent to class-A's Big three. We get a scene where Bakugo tells everyone what to do this time around and not Deku, Momo or Todoroki. We get a character that could fight to some extent on par with our heroes, using only support items, which is a good foreshadow for later events.

My experience is definitely the worst😂. My sister and i were the only people at the cinema when we watched it. The cinema staff and guards always monitor us, and they keep coming back every 3-5 minutes. It's fine in the beginning because i thought they are monitoring us because so we wouldn't film the movie, until one of the guards suddenly switched on his flash light and pointed it on us when I'm grabbing a fries in my sister lap 🤦‍♀️ it was so embarrassing 😳 that's when i get the idea that they are monitoring us because they thought we are gonna do some naughty and wrong deeds 😂. They did it 4 times, and that completely ruined my mood watching the movie. Thankfully, I'm watching Mha, so i still love it despite having terrible experience watching it.

I havent watch the movie cause I didn't know there's one... but base on this it seems like I'll enjoy this although I'm tired of hearing you say run because that's my go to music commuting to school I'll still give this a shot. I'll be back once I watched this and also seeing many anime referencing akira Im starting to have a sixth sense with it I just know that there will be one right before the scene in this case right before you show the clip lmao.
