Zack, u r a wonderful doctor & your videos r great. For some of us they r like fairy tales as we r not lucky as you in life. U r blessed with good looks, r privileged, with rich supporting parents, r white, not having many struggles in life, straight (life is very unkind for LGBT folks) with possibly a nice girlfriend, r physically & mentally fit. My comment isn't negative or jealous. Just poured my heart out. Your videos give me joy, like watching a lucky charming prince. May God bless u.

I don't know if you actually read these, but here's an interesting scenario/question for you: You said we should listen to our circadian rhythms, but they can be tweaked some. The circadian rhythm and diurnal rhythms are linked... Any thoughts for those of us with Addison's disease? Our diurnal rhythm is obliterated, and therefore so is the circadian. Even when we are able to regulate via taking our steroid doses at exactly the same time every day (this is rarely sustainable because life is a thing that happens, so it's a frequent fight), we still run into the issue where our cortisol isn't spiking around 30 minutes after waking... it's hours later. Which then also begs the question of how much longer our sleep inertia lasts on the whole. When is our brain reach full wakefulness (if ever)? A lot of us feel like the walking dead. Those of us that also have celiac disease (like myself) have all of these difficulties amplified. This is especially true in situations where said individual's celiac disease isn't controlled. Corticosteroids are lipid soluble, and celiac disease is a lipid absorption disease, so we absorb less steroid and at variable rates. I'm hoping this is a scenario that really gets your brain meats working, or even just excited. For the record: I'm a straight-A student. Thanks for the vids, I've really been enjoying them.

I’m have not watched the video yet, but how can I study 12 hours a day if the school schedule is 8am-18pm? It’s impossibile 😂
@JuanDuarte_588 ай бұрын
12 hours! one can't get an hour back. I would say see what you can do in 4. That would force one to optimize and design techniques that work. Why would any one want to study for 12 hours per day. Imagine the difference between paying extra and investing. There are opportunity, and more importantly time costs. We only have 1 life. Don't spend a dollar's worth of time chasing a dime.

Is it better to sleep 7 hrs or to make sure the sleep cycles are done (meaning 1.5h per cycle, meaning either 6 or 7.5 hrs)?
@ZachHighley8 ай бұрын
I use an app (they aren’t paying me anything) called sleep cycle, that wakes you up at lightest stage of sleep because yea i think it’s best to wake up after your last REM stage is completed so i usually set my awake time in 90 min cycles (7.5 hours or 9 hours) with a 30 minute buffer for falling asleep

Have you ever read The Case Against Education by Bryan Caplan? Seems to me if everyone took the advice only the genetic component would differentiate students since slots in desirable positions be it jobs or school are rival goods. This would likely result in tons of human capital waste, but I guess that’s already the case.

I know for a fact this guy doesn't study 12 hours a day, because he's a resident physician and residents work close to 80 hours a week for many specialties. WHY do we have to have so much clickbait in our culture? Just be honest about the time you study. Even if it's 6 hours a day that's still really impressive.

Not sure about that Smart goal. It's so vague and give no instructions for you to follow. Would it not be more immediate. Like: "I will go over this chapter for the next 90 minutes without distractions." Maybe That is something else, but I don't see the benefit of vague long term goals.

It's astonishingly inhuman how almost no one is talking about the fact that it's evil, dangerous and inhuman for humans to work like an artificial machine- it's totally against the body and mind and also the good of humanity. Well, all philosophy aside- I myself work like a machine all day. Also, study hacks and certain techniques that people use are too unoriginal, made up and artificial. In the contemporary, well, not just in present but in past as well- condition has been so and if not then at least similar. Human beings are doomed and chaos on Earth will never end.
