I understand the novelty and nostalgia of having a home arcade, but if i had the funds and space, id love to just build one raspberry pi based cabinet from scratch with retroarch and every arcade game ive ever played installed.

I did the raspberry pi thing. But have since upgraded to hyperspin. Just find a used pc. Doesn't take a ton of memory. Bought the same price. Hyperspin works better. A bit of work to get up and running, but plays great when finished.

Sorry to hear you’re having issues with your Arcade1Up cabs. Unfortunately they’ve lowered the timeframe of their warranty to 90-days. With the price you pay for these replica 3/4th scale toys you shouldn’t have these issues. I would send a complaint to customer support but most likely they’ll ask you to pay for replacements because their customer service is dogshit.

For the price, users definitely should not worry about replacing parts - but man, it’s common practice to replace the buttons and joystick on the fighting cabs. Thankfully, it’s not hard to do but something that shouldn’t be done to begin with.

I'm surprised these companies haven't made an "elite" cab with button/joystick improvements at this point (prob cause we laugh at them when they offer their MSRP); Mayflash does it with their F series fight stick (and you can replace on own, its easy)

Even though it's an easy/cheap fix, it shouldn't happen that soon on a $500 cab. Open up a ticket with 1UP and see what you can get. Hopefully it's just the micro switch on the button, but if it's the encoder board they should send you a new one, IMO.

I have 5 friends who got into the hype of these Arcades when they first released and one by one their Arcades would run into issues and now some have either trashed theirs of frustration,donated it to Goodwill or best of all:Try and pass it on to others lol

I've avoided buying any of these because of the poor build quality. They've been like this for years. Every demo unit I've seen had broken buttons or Joysticks. The screen quality is poor, the sound is distorted and tinny. I understand the draw of 3/4 scale arcade cans,but the cost cutting measures don't make sense to me.

If you are playing arcade1up fighting games and you haven't swapped out the buttons and sticks, that's on you. The stock buttons are basically place holders till you replace them.

I am , the problem is they drill the holes for what they put in. I did replace that button and have replaced others on my other cabinets. I can live with that ,,, back when arcade 1 ups were 299. But this cabinet was 600 dollars. And after 3 months controls start failing. The composite wood is already dirt cheap. I don’t understand why they basically doubled the price for 24”x 12” more of 1/2” composite material. I would think that a deluxe” cabinet would have upgraded buttons . And what’s worse is I only play it a couple times a week. Yes my complaint is legitimate

Arcade1Up is junk! Junk hardware, defective encoders, support is terrible now. I'll no longer buy their cabs, only real coinops cabs for me now.

On that spare button you have, all you need to do to make it fit is shave the little bumps off. It will fit like a champ. It's just a few dollars per button. Yeah, I wish they had better parts, but I change all mine anyways.

Having owned real arcade games for over a decade i can attest they are as needy as small children. I also have a dozen or so arcade 1ups. The buttons and sticks aren't arcade quality they're toy quality. Change them suckers out for a much better experience its one of the 1st things I do.

Same here! My low kick is doing the same. I noticed about a month after I got it while playing MK2. I knew I should've waited because it was $299 at Walmart but without the riser. Took 6 months to fund one. I think I'm done with them also

I moded my sf2 arcade cab. Put all new hap buttons in and replaced the garbage joysticks too. Im not expert and did it myself. Its a home arcsde that needs maintence like the real arcade did unfortunately.

I keep a few extra button around for the arcade cabinet I built. These Arcade1up buttons and sticks work but they aren't great quality unfortunately. You shouldn't be having issues that soon though. WAAAAAY too much to spend to have that kind of quality. You shouldn't be dealing with that.

Nah dude. I like these. I have 11 of them. Never had 1 issue. I keep buying. If button suck replace them. Or go buy a real arcade. Good luck finding a cheap, good-looking mk1, mk2, or even mk3. That mk2 you have there is the best (imo) one they made. Its loud af and crisp.

I bought 3 or 4 of these for €99 a piece. Gamestop Ireland were selling them off. I ended up selling them and just buying the one I liked best. I now just have the TMNT cab and stool and I love them. Even though I rarely use it, it's just a nice showpiece.

You know it's bad when even the "King of budget retail" Walmart doesn't even sell them any more. And I can't blame them. The quality varies on each cabinet, and the PCB's are pretty much destined to overheat and fail. And now with their CEO leaving, many are questioning whether there is a long term viability in owning one? Atgames has their Legends Arcade and if you can overlook the abysmal customer service, are a decent alternative. And their arcade games have tons of different games and you can easily add unlimited games. Arcade 1UP, you get what you get and that is it unless you opt to modify it with a PC/Android TV Box/Raspberry Pi. And that takes effort and some decent skills, especially if you are opting to not use the existing Arcade 1UP monitor (Ditched it for an old SVGA Acer flat screen monitor NIB 10 bucks). Plus if you really despise the joysticks and buttons ,you can opt for far better controls from Suzo Happ/Cherry lots of others. But again more money, and unless you got your cab for free or a few bucks, it's not worth it at least from a budget standpoint. So where does that leave Arcade 1UP? If they don't decide to substantially upgrade their hardware and consider multigame consoles, it basically spells doom for them. As a final note? The kick delay you are encountering in MK is due to a glitch in the PCB's keyboard encoder/decoder. One thing that has worked is to upgrade your buttons to "zero delay" that has helped some. Some have managed to get a revised PCB and with better buttons, it's a lot more playable (not perfect).

The only cab so far with HAPP (SuzoHapp now) buttons is the Killer Instinct Pro which I got a year ago when it came out but haven't built it yet. But, a review said that the joysticks are trash, that you can't do combos right. I never figured out combos in fighting games, I just punch and kick. I played SFII different editions and MK 1, 2, etc. in arcades and on Super Nintendo and other systems. I like the Konami beat-'em ups like TMNT, TMNT in Time, X-men, The Simpsons, Sunset Riders, Crime Fighters, and the Capcom beat-'em-up Final Fight, and SNK's Burning Fight which is a Final Fight ripoff. It has three characters like FF, and they are similar, one is like Guy (Ryu). Streets of Rage series on Sega Genesis are also like FF as well. Axel in SOR2 is like Cody in FF. I got the new SFII 1up dynamo shape cab on ebay for a deep discount, like $300 because it has Final Fight in it and I'm going to reskin it to Final Fight with new marquee and bezel, and stickers for the sides to cover the Champion Edition, and graphics for the joystick panel. I already have a Big Blue but it has some games that are not on the new cab and FF is missing although it can be softmodded but we have to figure it out. I also have that new MKII cab which is still unbuilt.

I feel as though this hobby is almost dead. Tecnology is such that any day now a company will come out with a cab that has every game and a re-configurable button layout to match any game. You get what you pay for. The fact you expected OG arcade longevity from an IKEA level toy in itself is hilarious. There are plenty of website that sell authentic arcade replacement parts. But you chose to come here and complain. I didn’t complain. I at one time owned 6 arcade1Up cabinets at one time. I modded them, grew tired of them and got rid of them. You can’t capture childhood arcade nastalgia with miniature Chinese knockoffs. Arcsde1Ups was a fad that gained popularity due in thanks to CV lockdowns and people with two much time in their hands. But, the charm has warn off. Get an original arcade if you want that childhood feeling.
