This happens everytime a new generation M3 gets announced. Everyone hated the E36 M3 after the E30 M3, now everyone loves the E36, same with the E46 and E92. People absolutely hated the F8X generation because BMW ditched the V8 and the cars got even bigger, now everyone is saying how much the love the older generation more. BMW is typically pretty good at staying ahead of the curve, people will come around and history will repeat.
