It's a hard game. I've bounced from 4 back to 9, back down again and now back to 8 in the last 12 months. Confidence, expectations etc. all cause some kind of cyclical mean reversion dynamic. It's tough and I'm forced to think deeply why I play this game. Well, because I love it really and so that has to be my primary goal - whether I shoot 20 over or 2 under. By letting go of the score expectations, maybe I can get out of this crazy loop! Thanks for the excellent vid and cheers from Oz - Dave

Matt, I've been watching you through the past two years (as a fan of your mentality). Thankfully as I began to develop my "inner playa", I found my anti-conformist/anti-consumerist self buying (with a co-worker) some of your product ( I have played with AND with out it and find I don't focus as I do with it. ESPECIALLY when I flip the bucket hats pattern for the back 9! Kökenballs as I am a "metal rooster" under the chinese horoscopes ... Plus I like whipping them out on the course ;p ). YOU my brother have helped my game go from a 37.8 hcp to a 26.4 in just one season ! I know "love" is over used however I feel it nessisary to tell you I love what you do, my un-aquainted friend (if there where such a term). Keep on keepin' on and keep rockin' my mind with your personal evolution as you help other playas find them selfs and their game. Peace and much love brother. -Macster Jedi-

I've played golf off and on (off lately) for over 45 years and I never got to scratch. I got close a couple times, even passed the PAT (playing ability test) to get into the PGA apprentice program back in the mid 90's. At the time my hdcp was 1.8 and I never got it any lower. A couple of years after working as an assistant pro at a really nice 54 hole private club in NC my hdcp was a 4.8 and I got out of the business when one of the members there offered me a job with his company. Getting to scratch is HARD (and so is staying there).

Relatable As a 7 handicap ive tried to break down where my strokes come from and why I dont improve: Baseline average- Carry a driver 240, hit 7 iron 160, 7 GIR, 3 up/down pars per round, 20% sand saves. The need to eliminate Double bogeys, occasional 3-putts and make more birdies seem impossible at times. But, most importantly the up and down average needs to get better. Its the difference between 7 bogeys and maybe only 4.

Im a 18 HC so I can also not do this but there was a few of your chips that would have been easy tap in if you were able to generate some spin. You know the one, two bounce then check shot. I would love to learn how to do that as well. Maybe one of your lessons or videos can cover that? I think you left 4/5 shots out there due to a longer put back after the chip. Like I said I cant but I think you good enough to do that. Anyway thank for all the advise and sharing. It has really helped me think different about my game and a week ago shot my best ever 82! I played POnderosa and the improved contact on the center of the face meant I was shooting past the cup a lot but those greens roll at 10 on the stimp. These are 7.5 and I was a bit apprehensive because the strike is better but I can't for the life of me, justify hitting a putt that hard. 7.5 on the stimp is just way too slow. Forest City, while a nice course, needs to get a greenkeeper who can get paspallum greens up to 9-10 on the stimp. I have never played there when the greens have been above 8 and that is no good!

Only some pulls to the left and hooks, some bad contacts that destroyed a fairly good round in the back-nine. Maybe it’s the stronger grip u use and the way you turn more thru to the left. Looks like it was a bit out of sequence or to much flipping hands and face control issues. But nothing unusual and to worry about when you are making swingchanges. On the first nine it looked you chipped with your new technique, but the ball didn’t got enough spin to bite while your landing point was chosen more aggressive and the ball passed long by the hole?

10:18 "How do you hit a toey fade?!" Easy when it's not hit out the centre of the club face. The address looked like you were stretching a tad too far towards the ball. Then on the swing, the "stretch" shrunk, enabling the "toey fade" ... Or at least that's what it looks like on YT video at 0.25x 🤷♂️ In other news, your body twist is Chuck Berry-ing again and the putter looks like you are leaving weight/speed/pace on the table (that last one I'm not so sure about but anyways ...)
