I'll offer you a different perspective: In the early days, the internet undeniably over-delivered in solving real-life problems to the point where issues with UX were tolerated. We cant say the same thing about NFTs, Crypto, and Web3 as they stand right now. I am bullish on the idea that we will find a good use for them, but as of now they're overhyped and show no utility beyond being a casino.

Well yeah, the value is purely speculative. Nobody wants NFS. People just trade between their own fake accounts to create a picture of 'lively market' to lure the suckers in thinking they're investing. This shit is as old as a book like auction houses with shill bidding and fake listings. It's in the interest of every cryptoscrammer to keep talking about NFTs 24/7 to give it some credibility/publicity.

Blockchain, NFTs and Crypto are a total deadend. There are major computation, social, economic, environmental, and technical reasons by the system is doomed to fail. I'm a software engineer and full-stack developer going on 20 years. Web 3.0 (The semantic web) is impossible on blockchain and wildly irresponsible. If you want to buy into the blockchain hype, then I'll happily call you a damned fool that's throwing their money away and perpetuating substantial social and environmental harm. Also, if you're going to argue about a subject, make sure you have an inkling of what you're discussing, and maybe find out what the motivations of the other person's opinion are. This has nothing to do with how I "see the concept" and entirely to do with the empirical evidence and the math.

However, web3 hasn’t even been fully integrated with the larger web yet, and already it’s full of stupid pyramid schemes and scams, with next to no accountability for those doing it. You do realize that NFTs can be internal and have nothing to do with the current bubble. NFTs is a technology. It can work inside a game system and be disconnected from the rest of the crypto market. People look at this stupid speculative gallery market instead of the technology itself which does need to be implemented this way at all. You can make your own crypto currency for your video game, ask for zero money from players and simply use the NFTs to follow the history of various assets in the game. Because it's so flexible in implementation, you can make it so it's impossible to trade for outside the game through a direct marketplace. NFT stands for "Non-Fungible Token". And not "New Financial Toy". Not making it an NFT specifically on the Ethereum network is probably a good decision. But not making it an NFT based game at all is very debatable because as a technology it fits the game really well and it can add interesting functionality to the entire system.

It's true I could do it all with standard programming but having a transaction ledger can he incredibly valuable, especially if you are going to have certain changes to the entire system. It's hard to explain but I believe it is possible to take advantage of that and that we'll see that in the future.

I feel you. The crypto game / nft space is underdeveloped and full of scams/ projects that aren’t going anywhere. I do think nfts are the future but right now they aren’t used for more than flipping assets in the majority. Maybe when this game is fully developed and nfts have more interconnectability there could be an option to mint your void pets and use them in other compatible apps.

NFT are simply one of X tokens just like every other crypto coin except that in their bloc lies a link to a gif or picture file stored somewhere on a private server. NFTs are not created (as of now) to add value or to increase the utility of a real world project/asset but only to make money on the back of people dumb enough to throw money at it.
