This is very similar to the invasive Elaeagnus umbellata, the Autumn Olive species (noxious bush with late August berries) that grows all over the eastern U.S. You can still eat the berries though and they are very similar and high in lycopene. The species you speak of Elaeagnus multiflora (goumi) could likely be grafted onto the invasive species for more productive delicious varieties for this bush.

Hi Ross thank you for trying all those fruits for us. I can’t seem to find the Carmine goumi anywhere. The site you recommended has only red gem and sweet Scarlett. Would you recommend I get one of those? I really would like to get my hands on Carmine. Any help with that? Thank you so much!

Ross, Did your Goumi cuttings root when placed in the ground?

Hi Ross, thanks for sharing. I'm planning to plant a pawpaw-and-goumi patch in my food forest this year. Wondering how yours turned out? And did that method of propagating goumis just by burying cuttings work out well? Thank you! -Bing

Propagating didn't work, but the pawpaw and goumi are doing fantastic.

@@RossRaddi Good to know, thanks! If you've found a better way to propagate them by cuttings, would love to hear about that too! I have a neglected Carmine bush that I planted two years ago. Going to see how it's doing this Spring and maybe take some cuttings to propagate with the new pawpaw patch

@@RossRaddihave you ever propagated them from cuttings or do they have to be grown from seed?
@-whackd Жыл бұрын
Are you propagating with rooting hormone in a pot first?

Always wanted to try Paw Paws and Goumis, but was afraid because i thought they would be to diffacult to grow. Cherries and most stone fruit with the exception of peaches are very diffacult to grow, many deseases and pests. Good video Ross.

You have a male kiwi to pollinate correct? Just checking. Also, I saw the old ones they have at Edible Landscaping and they get massive!

I do. It's by the huge cherry tree.

Can’t find where to purchase goumi

Can I buy a couple of these goumi plants from you??
I have one taste like a wild nasty cherry. Save the space and time. We grow lots of things on our property and we rarely eat them only have it so other people can try them. Most people don’t like it. Makes Brown turkey taste like black Madeira.
