Hi! I’m a former elementary school educator and current online reading tutor. If you’re comfortable, I’d recommend you looking into finding an in-home 1:1 tutor as an alternative to a large learning center. Assessments are standard but a lot of private tutors offer them for free. Also research and experience shows us that reading tutoring requires short, frequent intervention for it be most effective. I’d never advise a 3rd grade student sit for an hour long session, even if it’s only once a week. Developmentally, it’s better if they do 2 or 3 25-30 minute sessions per week. It’s also more cost effective for you that way. Hope this helps and good luck in your search!
