I’ve carried this knife every day since May 2020. It’s so light I forget it’s in my pocket until I need it, which is often. Best EDC purchase of my life.
@danielyoung71755 жыл бұрын
I discovered the 940’s through watching your video’s. I bought one for myself. You don’t have to turn your back on the 940 just because you got a new knife. The 940 holds this distinction, “it is a working mans knife” with no frills or excuses. It’s nice to get a knew knife capable of being an every day knife. However don’t DIS my 940!

how can an opinion about looks be ignorant if it is based on looks? @@lovemyamunition
@lovemyamunition5 жыл бұрын
@@MrOzzy281 because that's all the negative he said about it so he obviously doesn't own one. And I don't know what "most" 940 owners use them for but in a user roll the bugout blade is more practical than the 940s because it is thinner behind the edge and not so wedge shaped. It slices through all kinds of material much better than the 940.

I only have a few EDC knives (I'm a user, not a collector), but the bugout is definitely next on my list. It really strikes a balance that nothing else I own does. As nice as the blue is, I am hoping for some more color choices. A stonewashed blade with a nice forest green handle and thumb stud would be very nice. Are you listening, Benchmade?

First, I am a huge benchmade fan and own several. I was so excited when the bugout came out and I loved it, but I couldn’t let myself buy one because of the handle. I think if they made a g-10 or aluminum scaled model, it would be the perfect EDC. It gives me the “fizz” but I’m holding out for an updated model. 🤞 You should check out the Grizzly Ridge, the material is extremely grippy and will hold it in your pocket, even when using a pocket clip.
I ended up carrying a Ganzo 720, when the belt clip , like you, became a hinderance I removed it and just put it in a belt pouch. Have had for years now, been wacking woods with it for trail clearing, shooting lanes, etc, and then touching it up a bit for the steak dinner. Copy of the Lion steel. My buddy gave me a 940, it is sitting in the drawer, did not want to damage it. Thanks for the channel, it is my go to for reference

I saw the Bugout on a Blade HQ best EDC knives video last year and it looked great. the instant I saw one in the store I held it and it was a done deal. I've carried it for over a year now and there hasnt been a day go by that I dont carry it, use it, flip it for fun, tell others about it, etc. I honestly feel like it's the perfect knife. I will buy a sand color one when I'm ready to send this one in for sharpening because I can't imagine being without one for a day. The shape, profile, build, weight, blade material, pocket clip, action, lock, are all perfect. And its not so aggressive looking that you pull it out to open a box that you scare people away. I have more conversations about the knife started with me than any other that i've ever carried.

When I bought my BM 912 before it was discontinued, I used it until I got the 810 Contego to replace it as my EDC. The 912 is in my tool chest as a spare BUT I’m not going to sell or get rid of it. Everybody has their favorite. I finally add a _Black Kat_ to my collection and realized I loved the thing but wanted stainless steel so I did some checking and got one in stainless steel. Not a pry bar but it does great on food prep and cutting up steaks. It is a lock back even though it dates back till about 1863 or there about. Everything he said about the buyout is true I loved it but I was shopping for a tool I could use daily and stand up for years and i didn't feel as though the bugout would hold up. I could squeeze the handle scales together almost touching each other. I didn't feel the durability that I get from my 940. I am so happy to have another no clip brother out there. My issue isn't with losing knives, its that the time it takes to get a knife in your pocket at exactly the right spot is much more annoying than orieting a blade pulled out of pocket.

I've carried a Spyderco Delica for probably 20 years or more. I'm on my 3rd one because I've lost two others. When I saw your video last year I think it was, about the pocket clip causing you to lose your Benchmades, I began to carry my delica in my pocket - which made it very uncomfortable due to blade shape. Because of that, for the last 6 months or so, I've carried a Case 3-blade folder like my grandfather used to carry, but it is kind of a low quality, entry level blade, not as sturdy or functional as the Spyderco. I guess I've been too lazy, complacent, or perhaps nostalgic to replace the Spyderco with something more apporpriate, and was not willing to shell out the $$$ (perhaps due to my paranoia from losing my beloved Spydercos) for the Benchmade 940 that you love so much. Seeing the Bugout now, with its lower price point has me really thinking... I'll be anxiously awating your followup review on this when the initial fizz is off the rose - so to speak. :)

Very interesting, thx. As a relative newb to 'collecting' knives, never quite understood the appeal of these 'minimalist' Spyderco, Benchmade, etc. kinda knives, usually in some super steel sandwiched between a couple slabs of G10, that often seems so 'plain-looking' (especially for a "$200 knife"). Though even as a 'traditionalist',I can see the appeal of a good blade that maybe also appears a little less 'intimidating' in your typical everyday biz or office setting.

I'm watching this while eating lunch in the home office and my wife is getting ready to go somewhere, so she's walking back and forth doing this, that and the other and popping in to ask if I like this necklace or that. She just stopped as she walked by the door and said "Geez, is he still talking about that knife? How much can he say about one knife?!" LOL I'm still drawn to the Griptilian line. I've had a mini for 15 years or more and it has served me faithfully and still looks great. I've debated over the full size Griptilian for years, but rarely need a blade longer than the 2.9 inch one on the mini. If I need something bigger I grab a fixed blade. The Bugout looks too rectangular to me, plus it's too thin, great for pocket carry, but I suspect hot spots would develop quickly when using it. Don't care for the 940 blade or aluminum handle either. But that's why they make so many different knives. Not everyone likes the same thing.

Check out the 940-1, granted its $250 but it has carbon fiber scales, full steel liners, a s90v steel which is upgraded and it has backspacers and its open in the back. It'll renew your love in the 940. The bugout is great for edc but its not as hard use as the 940. I think there's room for both in your life. The 940 would be great for jobs around the homestead and the bugout being as light as it is would be a great pant suit pocket knife for a night on the town.

You had me for a minute with that thumbnail. Though you were going fixed blade lol. I edc a home made file knife with stag antler handle. Absolutely love it, my father use to carry a bench made, great knife.

For me its like comparing a new truck to an old one. Shure the new one has more features and might have a more comfortable seat. But there is something special about the old design. it feels more like a tool rather than a toy.

Haha, I did the same thing 7 month ago, but in ranger green. I love this knife, even if it’s not as sturdy as my 940-2. I never left home without it ever since. But you shouldn’t sell the 940, it’s worth to keep it, as a backup, and for more serious tasks.

I agree 100% with you Cody! Nice descriptive words on this video. Just received the bug out a week ago from Blade HQ for the same price as Amazon and also received a free deck of playing cards with pictures of knives on them.

I watched this eagerly anticipating that you would say that this new knife gave you "the fizz". You almost said it a few times, you toyed with us and then Bam 13:30. Hahaha 😂. Too awesome! Thanks for putting out great videos!! Have a great weekend Cody!!

Want!!!! It would give me the fizz to have your 940 for sure!! Name your price! You nailed the description on this knife. It was everything I felt holding it for the first time.

Controversy makes normal things way more interesting, reading the comments is entertaining,I still want a 940-1 for the carbon fiber only can't decide if s90v is gonna be what I want as far as sharpen ability. Any opinions?

I’m sorry, after 10 minutes, I started getting sick. This is like a spoof.

Very topical. A purchased the veritable 940-2 several months ago but have recently been thinking that for the same money I should have got the Bug Out with aftermarket carbon fibre scales. Good video.

I would love to get a Bugout . . . if they put aluminum scales on it. The design is great, but I won’t buy another plastic handled knife.

Now you hate the bugout for being what it is, a lightweight small knife.

The crooked river was something that was outstanding. Well, except for the outstandingly high price.

The Bugout is freaking awesome. I still like the 940 better....but only by a pinch. I like them both so very much. I think the bugout is a better slicer.
