Join us for an afternoon of celebration as Quillette founder Claire Lehmann returns to her hometown of Adelaide for a special Australia Day gathering. We're marking this wonderful occasion in true Quillette style - with great company, engaging speeches, entertainment, and a celebration of what makes our nation unique. events.humanitix.com/quillette-social-adelaide-2025?_gl=1*8nhnoo*_gcl_aw*R0NMLjE3MzU0MDkwOTEuQ2p3S0NBandodmkwQmhBNEVpd0FYMjV1ajlIUC03TU1QSXoxRldjZzBHTXVjUE1HLXVvV1hJN2lBbzh1TWdFc3ZXT2pmcTFIVG1VYS1ob0NrT2tRQXZEX0J3RQ..*_gcl_au*MTkyOTEyNTQ1NC4xNzMyNDk5Mjgw*_ga*NDMxNzczOTExLjE3MzI0OTkyODE.*_ga_LHKW5FR9N6*MTczNTQwODQzMC40LjEuMTczNTQxMDI5Ny42MC4wLjA.

And further to my Comment, which I imagine didn't go up because I mentioned a left learning Media site, because this is a right learning site, so, this crowd will not know where to take on the Anti-Australia crowd, and remain in it's bubble, patting themselves on the back in agreement, and the left Anti-Australia crowd will go unchallenged So the question is - What are you hoping to achieve ?

What I suggest to all who want Australia Day honoured, and not belittled, is a good place to take the Anti-Australia Day people on, is go to The Guardian, and sign up a Comments Account, it's free, no cost Every year The Guard runs it Anti-Australia Day articles, and they fall over themselves to pour out their hate for Australia, our heritage and our Flag There's a few of us only who stand up to them, and if you can form intelligent comment, your comment will go up, and if you have an Account, you can up-vote those comments for Australia Day You will find the Anti-Australia Day articles under, Opinion This is easy to do people, and it's fun Some Polling results on Australia Day support Roy Morgan Poll from the January 22, 2024 A special Roy Morgan SMS Poll on Australia Day, January 26, shows more than two-thirds of Australians (68.5%) now say the date should stay as ‘Australia Day’ - up 4.5% from a year ago. Only 31.5% (down 4.5%) say January 26 should be called ‘Invasion Day’. I hope many of you take this advice, and Happy Australia Day

I am a white skinned 50ish yr old Wiradjuri man. My father grew up on an Aboriginal mission in the 40's/50's as a half cast. A lot lighter akinned than the rest of our relations. He told me a lot about his life growing up and told me 'its harder for a white man in a black mans world than it is for a black man in a white mans world'. It didn't really mean that much to me until the last few years. I have seen how the discrimination towards straight white men has become something i would never have imagined. I was a lot like you when i was younger. Supported social issues, social security, Palestine, and open borders. It wasn't until I did my own research that I'd realised how misled I was. We aren't all equal as much as we can't choose our gender or species. At this point in my life, I've come to realise we need to listen to Dr ML King and judge a person on their character, not by b the colour of their skin. Australia Day is for all Australians. If you don't feel it's worth celebrating, it's a reflection on your character, and maybe you should find an alternate country to live in.

@@resiefan3258 Ya ya, thats why Australia has a better standard of living, better wages, better healthcare, less crime and longer life expectancy. 1st Amendment: The right to freedom of speech is protected by articles 19 and 20 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). 2nd Amendment: We could not care less about owning guns, as we have far lower rates of crime. You can legally own a firearm in Australia anyways, just requires more work to get one. 3rd Amendment: Quartering of soldiers is hardly a right or liberty that is important anymore. 4th Amendment: Australia's Privacy Act 1988 protects citizens' privacy rights. 5th Amendment: While you are correct that there is no constitutional protection for the right to silence in Australia, a common law principle, known as the companion rule, provides individuals (but not corporations) this protection. So stop trying to denigrate something you know nothing about, Australia ranks higher than America in almost every metric except military strength, and constantly tops "most liveable country" rankings. American citizens are some of the most poorly treated of first world countries, where they have the worst healthcare of developed nations, no paid sick or maternity leave, relatively high crime rates and one of the lowest minimum wages of the developed nations. But at least they have the right to more guns to shoot up schools with!

Not even ten years ago, inner Sydney was full of people celebrating. Almost everyone was waving flags or was wearing funny headgear that you could buy every 10 meters or so. Our children especially loved the parade of fantastic old-timers lined up for kilometres. Now, nothing. We were so shocked when we went to they city again one year and no one was there! It is scary how quickly a movement of self hatred can cancel all the joy and make everyone believe it is the moral thing to do.

Funniest part to me is, all the BS they sprout is actually solved by having Australia Day on the 26th. It isn't the day the First Fleet landed (that was January 18th) and it wasn't "claimed" on the 26th either, that was done a full 18 years prior in April of 1770 when Captain Cook first sailed and mapped the east coast of Australia. So even though a flag was raised in another location at a second settlement area on the 26th.. it wasn't even the first flag to be planted in Australia; Cook did it nearly 2 decades before that.

I'm 52 years old. As a point of interest, Anzac day was demonised when I was a kid. It was labelled as a glorification of war. Then as the 80s, became the 90s and beyond, more and more people attended the dawn services in a suit and tie, as I did, in tribute and thanks to those who died so we can live in freedom. The same will be the case with Australia day I feel. I was born in New Zealand but have lived my entire life here (apart from 3 months), in this beautiful nation. I was born and raised in Australia to parents who migrated from New Zealand in the 1980s. Growing up, I never saw this day as a symbol of genocide or historical atrocities. It was a time of commemoration and celebration, but social media activists have changed that narrative. Their influence has pressured many into silence, discouraging any expression of national pride-even to the point of redefining Australian identity as “European”. I refuse to be intimidated by the woke movement and will continue to stand proudly as an Australian. Happy Australia Day 🇦🇺

I think the Voice referendum has also contributed to the majority of people rethinking the anti-Australia Day agenda. They saw the arguments for the Voice lacking substance and the proponents of the Voice deflecting important questions by bullying critics with accusations of racism at every turn. This closely echoes the tactics used in pushing for an end to Australia Day. When it was clear that the vast majority of Australians were in silent opposition to the Voice it reassured people that they are far from the only ones to oppose this agenda. I am hopeful that we've now seen the worst of the anti-Australia Day movement and are finally moving towards embracing Australia Day as an opportunity to appreciate and take pride in the fantastic country that Australia has become.

I remember Australia day 1988 was a great time, a celebration of a nation. What a great time to be growing up. I've since spent a lot of time in the north west of Australia and it saddens me to see the destruction that alcohol, drugs and a poor diet has done to our original countrymen. We need to help them, not give them handouts. When you see the energy and excitement of children and their willingness to learn, the potential these kids possess, this is what we should be celebrating. The potential for a better country.

Actually, if you consider this argument objectively, there are plenty of reasons not to have Australia Day on the 26th as it's an affront to many, aside from the convict colony inference. There are a bunch of other dates that can be considered, such as May 9th, Federation Day, when Australia dropped its balls just a little and became self-governing.

If you go to Vietnam, you can still see the horrific legacy left by the insane Yankees. A lot of younger people were totally sick of any representation of war. Waitangi Day in NZ is the equivalent of Australia Day. It commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi between the British Crown and Maori tribes. Just. WOW!!!❤❤❤ Thank u SO much. From the bottom of heart ❤ I'm a veteran. Our flag means EVERYTHING to us, because EVERY Australian is under it. Its NOT the Union Jack or YT roots. Most of us got tattoos of Ned Kelly and the Southern Cross. It was the harsh reality of REAL war and acceptance of Brothers/Sisters in Arms in service to OUR people... under a flag. That flag. Most of us are happy to change the flag or step away from the Monachy... but it MUST service ALL Australians in humility, for humanity. The UNs Human Rights declaration better defines the Abrahamic 10 commandments in today's societies. Only individuals playing for gain benefit from all this division... and it's a FILTHY rabbit hole of history. True. But it's one planet. EVERY flag is usually the result on a BLOODY struggle or war. Celebrating our humanity with humility is important. ❤❤❤
