ABOUT ME
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello there, welcome to this channel!
I am an Indonesian female solo traveler, who started solo traveling in 2013. After working for the government till 2016, I left Indonesia to pursue full-time traveling and to document myself as I explore different cultures as a solo female.
Having initially traveled for 5 months throughout Asia, I moved to China in January 2017 for an English teaching job, which was my first experience living abroad.
Since leaving China in 2018, I have taken the move to become a full-time KZbin creator and traveler. I strive to create unique, culture-driven content and capture authentic interactions as I travel.

one of Golden Rules is, "Don't do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you". Most of Chinese people are hospitality. But some are stupid and ignorant, those are not welcome to anywhere.

Dear Syifa, i enjoy your vedio quite alot, it gave ordinary ppl more positive engery to carry on , please ignore those stupid commets made by stupid ppl, they speak irresponsibly and try to discourage you from doing what you want to do, or , at least make you do things their way. Yinchuan is located in north west of china, and ppl there are more friendly compare to the chinesel living in costal area, so it should be quite easy to make friends with the local. my suggestion is to find one of your chinese collegue and try to learn some chinese from her, it would be a great way to get invlove into chinese society. your colleague and ppl around her would become more friendly and willing to help and share what they can offer.

I do not know you are from which country and who intimidated you, if you abide by the rules and regulations ( not very stiff) of China, then it is the best place to live and at present China is the country which developing so fast. If you are a person not to abide by rules, not to respect their culture, do not like Chinese food, do not try to understand basic Chinese language then it is problem for you. MY EXPERIENCE IS THESE ADJUSTMENTS ARE FAR MORE EASIER THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY. I CAN SAY ABOUT INDIA , IT IS COUNTRY OF 22 LANGUAGES, THERE IS DISPARITY, BULLYING. SO, PLEASE STOP THIS NEGATIVE PROPAGANDA. YES, CHINA IS VERY STRICT FOR POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS ACTIVISTS. AFTER ALL YOU ARE A SOCIAL ANIMAL, SO WHERE EVER YOU GO HAVE TO PAY RESPECT TO CERTAIN NORMS.

Hi! Syifa why don't you learn more about Chinese language while you are still living in China today? by then it will allow you to understand better the culture and the life of the ordinary people there, while you are putting yourself in an environment that speak only one language by then it will force yourself to pick-up that language skill faster and easier, bear in mind that it will be must easier to learn new skill while you are still young, once you are getting older it will be a daunting task to learn Chinese, because Chinese is inherently tough language to master for non native speaker, believed me, Chinese language will become your most valuable asset in the coming years if your bother to take the trouble to learn it now. don't get intimidated.

No, he never said that. Source? Neil DeGrasse Tyson did talk about Islamic history and the contribution Islam has made to science. They were the conservators of Roman, Greek, Egyptian science in fact. But over time, you got radicals that destroyed it. Christian radicals called Catholicism did the EXACT same thing from 100AD roughly to about 1600's, before the Renaissance period with Galileo. Radical Islam and radical Christians HATE science. That's a fact. That's what Dr. Tyson said. I studied physics and I know Einstein's field equation. I know who Tyson is. Do you? Do you even know science-history? Obviously NOT. And apparently you can't comprehend nor write English well based on your writing.

Semoga bisa mengubah perspektif masyarakat Indonesia yang salah tentang China (well, since the current political situation in Indonesia is blaming China of controlling the Indonesian Government and about the communist party and all, which I believe is a wrong accusation, and mind you I am not even a supporter of China even though I am a Chinese descendant).

Hey i found your channel about a couple of days and i love your videos! I am an Persian Girl and not muslim like the most iranis and persian, but you changed my thinking about islam a lot, alltough i will never be a muslim. Could you make an video about the political situation in indonesia? As well indonesia is a beautiful country, the human rights are not the best, like in my home country after the islamic revolution. I am a big fighter against the death penalty and hear a lot about it in idonesia. It breaks my heart if somebody murders, doesn't matter if it is a single person or a staate. Nobody has the right to killing. I am currently writing a book about the death penalty in iran and usa and i would like to know your opinion about that topic. Specially from the religion perspective, even i am not religion, i can not believe that the islam would support this unhuman penalty. Best wishes from Penang ☺️❤️

Hey I'm Indonesian 😊 Death penalty that is implemanted in Indonesia has nothing to do with religion. This law is aimed for drug smugglers and terrorist. I'm pretty sure, you've already heard about two australians who got death penalty after they are convicted smuggling heroin in Bali. Actually the place where do you stay now, Malaysia is also implemented death penalty with the same case. So does Singapore and China. Moreover just fyi, Indonesia is not islamic country, only one province that implement "what they call" sharia. The ideology of Indonesia is Pancasila that covers all religions, ethnicities and races. And that's pretty liberal and secular but not completely. We already being multicultural since before the colonialism came to Indonesia. The majority of indonesians are muslim, but that doesnt mean it's islamic country 😊

Tahniah, dik. Saya terharu sangat menonton video ni. Saya mengucap ribuan kata-kata tahniah kepada mu. I anak Malaysia dan walaupun berbangsa Cina, belum pernah berani lagi menjejak di situ. I can't read a word of Chinese, being English educated. I hereby title you the absolute coolest Malay girl on the globe! Much love. Take care over there. We are speechlessly proud of you! (Where da heck did you get your American accent?)

Congratulations to Syifa Adriana....for her sharing....imagine how I feel as a Baba Chinese....meaning my early roots came from China....Hakka...Fuchew Hak...to South East Asia...my early roots from probably from Indonesia....Bandung, or Surabaya or even Bataks from Lake Toba....Being 80+ I can't speak Hakka because my Grandma spoke Baba Malay to me most of the time. I visited China....Peking, Shanghai, Hongkong, Meximian, Guilin, Suchio, etce....8 times yes I love China today because the Colonial powers rule her for more than 200 years....imagine, Chinese and dogs should not pass this road....I can't speak Mandarin but can speak Hokkien and Cantonese but sorry can't speak Hakka....I love to know more about Hakka people....they are the rebelious clans and Guest people.....Lee Kuan Yew a Hakka Baba like me. Once again Congratulation to Syifa Adriana....you are most welcome to Melaka .....where I am....Old city in Malaysia.,

Being a Muslim comes with a trail and obviously this mean a lot of people will hate on you. But hey that's life, we just got to learn to live with it. So honey don't let the people in comments get to you, they clearly have nothing to do in life but to chat shit about other people. From a certain perspective they're actually quite pitiful xD. Btw mashallah did I ever mention how beautiful you are?? Love from Somalia

Thank you for making this video and welcome to my home country! China is not English-friendly. But in big cities, like Beijing and Shanghai, it's not very difficult to find somebody who can speak English. I understand you choose to live in Yinchuan city because it's the capital of a muslin province. As a native Mandarin speaker, I'd say it's kind of hard to have a good command of Chinese, but it's not so hard to learn some simple Chinese words for everyday use, which will make your life in China much easier. Hope you enjoy your trip to China!

LOL, if you think that then you have never been to America. I've been all over American and I'm still wondering where she learned what English she does speak. "the way they stare you". NO, it should be, the way they stare at you. Now don't get me wrong, I don't speak Indonesian or Chinese well either.

While in China, you should really try to learn Mandarin, even only learn pinyin and conversational skills. It is the best time to have a full immersion in the language. Remember Chinese is the most spoken language in the world and a very important world language. It will serve you well in China or when you decide to return to Indonesia one day. Many people say that Chinese is very hard. I strongly disagree, I think Chinese is an easy language to learn as there are no complicated tenses, confusing word conjugation, etc. In fact, I speak fluent Mandarin after living 2 years with a couple of Chinese roommates in America. Now I can read, write, and speak basic Mandarin. I went to China for the first time a few years ago and I went everywhere without any language problem. I can't tell you how valuable it is to live in a country and learn the language locally. In the U.S., I spent 2 months learning Spanish grammar and basic words for the first time at a university. Then I traveled in Central and South America and lived with the local families. After 3 months of travel, I returned to the U.S. as a fluent Spanish speaker. This is my real experience. That's why I think you should really take advantage of this opportunity to learn Mandarin while you're in China. You will not regret it.

I wish you a happy life and work in China There are 56 ethnic groups in China Therefore, we must respect the customs of all ethnic groups. Every nation is equal, without the privilege of law. PS: no religion should be extended to minors (under 18 years of age). This is law
