I have both and I LOVE both. I wouldn't say VTOL is better, just that its more accessible and easier to understand. I teach all my friends how to fly on VTOL first and them take them to DCS and a lot of it transfers over tbh. but yes, VTOL VR is underappreciated and by far the flight experience VR has to offer. See you in Vegas btw! I fly out of Orlando / Kissimmee as a CFI, and I'm certain I've heard you over freq before when i do cross countries out there to tampa, looking forward to meeting you!

isn't that what the Flaming Cliffs product line within DCS is designed to though? What I do think is fair and accurate (particularly for new players) is DCS being a major time hog to get up and running well and when you add VR on top it can take days if not week of ur life. Then if you put it down for an extended period you risk regressing back to square one and face that barrier again. DCS does have an 'ease of access' issue unless you're using it regularly so I can see why VTOL VR would be a good starting place for simmers going all in for DCS or MSFS you risk bouncing off the accessibility unless very committed.

One thing I wish DCS and IL2 had is a quick start for their missions, meaning you start at the action instead of the whole flight to the action. It ends up being 20 minutes of basic flying for like 5 minutes of action half the time. I know people want extreme realism, but I don't have an hour to ignore my family for one mission lol. I know they have single quick missions, but there aren't many.... , but the campaigns seem really cool to me, but I don't have the time to do them with all the travel time.
@theVRpilot5 ай бұрын
Yup and you get exact what you’re saying here in DCS. Even when starting on the ramp you’ll be often on target 5 minutes. Smaller map yes, but don’t discount it. It’s pretty epic.

I'm an old flight simmer from the beginning of flight sims on computers, and even though having physical cockpits and stuff is nice, there is still a disconnect because you are looking at a screen. being IN the cockpit and using your virtual hands to manipulate it is just a whole other level that you can't get anywhere else. VTOL VR is my favorite flight sim. It's a good mix of serious realism and ease of use. It's no DCS, but it's also no Ace Combat Arcade shit either .

Simplified realism. All the principles are there, but presented in an easy to understand interface. The game still has a steep learning curve if you want to use it to its maximum potential though, that’s what I love about it. @theVRpilot5 ай бұрын
lol! Yaw is a bit wild at times. My solution has been to really set myself correctly on an office chair that has armrest where my elbows are at 90* and comfortable, adjusting the in game seat height and then adjusting control position. This is a great question! I will work on a more detailed explanation and maybe even make a vide on this as I am sure you arent the only one wondering. But I will share a few things to consider that will help set you up on the right path. 1. Budget - What is it your budget. 2. What do you want to fly? - Are you looking to train in a C172 or want to build an F16 simpit, or a mixed setup. 3. Choose your base platform - Consider Next level racing, Trak Racer, or check amazon for less expensive models search "flight sim frame" Make sure it fits your end goal. Also I am working on a FREE DIY Tutorial to build your own. 4. Flight controls and mounting solutions. 5. What monitor and or VR hardware are you going to use. Again there is so much more but this is a quick start. I think I will work on a detailed written guide for this and video. I will make sure to post it here in response so you see it but I will start working on that. Hope that is clear as mud and it helps! if you have more questions or thoughts write them below so I can better write a guide and help you and others out!
