I think its so easy for people in high powered finance roles to be blinded by money and prestige, and lose sight of what truly matters in life. My dad was in banking in early 90’s. He left after so many of his colleagues became burnt out or worse hooked on drugs to keep going. Yes, it was 100+ hrs a week. He never regretted leaving.

dang so sorry to hear that Henry I feel your pain. If you're able to pay for caregivers and she's able to live near you I think it may be okay to pursue IB at the same time. My mom was in Korea while I was in the states and I was an analyst for a few years, so it made more sense for me to quit and be with family while working on my businesses. Wish you all the best~

U were fortunate to learn the lessons you did at a young age. Most people will not learn them until into their 40's. Ben, I'm sorry about your mom. The bay area has a fast pace culture where you kind of lose track of time and either work a lot or buy unnecessary things. Leaving that after some saved up money probably would have been a bit safer but since you had a serious family problem you worked with what you had. You did better than most would have done under the circumstances.
