Why i QUIT living on a boat

living on a boat is not for everyone. I love fishing and the ocean. Free food and all the water that you need to de=salinate. I hate driving in traffic and i hate the city.

Hello Dan, I just arrived at this video by an interesting winding path through the internet. This showed me that you have not built much LEGO in a while and also told about your new adventure as "Breach the Box", so I scrolled your videos until deciding to see what you had to say about living in a boat. what type of boat would you recommend for someone who wanted to live on a boat ? in the 30 to 40 thousand dollar range ?

Most motorboats have bigger space, unlike sailboats but can sail for free. I live in a Motorboat (Yacht) and i have enough space for me, i paid it around 10k euros (12k dollars) So i am guessing you can get something much bigger and modern, my boat is 40 years old, only thing is i dont have good insulation so winter is hard for me.

Hi I was in Liddlehammer last year for a week but I came came on Ryan air . Since then got 1968 deep keel 9 meter boat and thought I might go to Liddlehammer for may 2020 and stay the summer there . I need to know how much is the marina there and how do I get that info .I heard telephone numbers for Marina in Oslo so I don't think I will do Oslo . Also How much was your harbour and where was it . I hope to take spin in mid summer up to the far north for a few weeks but its all depending how much problems it will be to single hand sail up the Norway coast

Hey, i checked and there is no way to get to lillehammer by boat from the ocean, theres no canal going to the lake that lillehammer is next to. You can get to oslo but not lillehammer. Solo sailing along the coast isnt super easy, but i'm sure a lot of experienced people have done it.

Yeah live in a boat homie. With solar panels, good internet. A gaming PC a dehumidifier and alot of batteries. A sail boat with a automatic sailer thingy

just for me it was big enough. Bigger means more space, but also more complexity. More expensive, harder to handle, more maintenance etc.

I think the most complicated things with building a yurt would be to find insulation for it (traditionally felt wool) i think) if you're planning on using it during the winter too. The other thing is to find and sew suitable fabric. The construction itself with wood should be pretty simple to build

The rule is you need to be 300m from shore before dumping sewage. It makes sense though, if everyone in a harbor/marina is dumping their sewage over board it will make it very gross to be there since the faeces will float around. I would like to be able to swim there in clean water :)

Huge loss of investment. The $ you "save" when comparing what you would be paying for a mortgage, still doesn't balance out. Live in a house for 10 years, it goes up in value the whole time. Live on a boat for 10 years, it goes down in value the whole time. Good luck buying a house when you decide to sell your boat to buy one. The costs of housing greatly increased over time, while your boat is now worth nothing.

I get your point but Then you're assuming that 1 house prices keep increasing dramatically 2 it's even possible for me to buy a house in the first place. Which it absolutely is not at The moment as house prices are absolutely insane here in norway. What do you think?

@@BreachtheBox I think house prices increase in almost all areas in a 10 year time period. Some places a lot, some not so much. But even in poor areas, there is still a price increase in a 10 year time frame. A house will always out value a boat. End of the day, it's all what you want.

Rent is often more than your monthly mortgage payment, living on a boat allows you to save a lot of money you can use to buy a house

The amount of money you put in the mortgage with interest is it really as valuable as your home selling price. Add the property taxes, the sewage, the state taxes.
