@@britmacify There are cameras that have sound but they are more difficult to find.

you know whats amazing to me with analog.. is the fact that there is a "cost". not only financial but ,everything. And by cost I mean in a positive sense. When I was younger and shot only film photography I couldn't just shoot 1200 pictures, because I couldn't afford it. Every shot was intentional and nobody ran up to look at how it came out. There was excitement and fun about having to wait for development (although I ran to the lab the very day usually ha ha). With a super8 or 16 were not so inclined to just carelessly and recklessly shoot everything. its allows you to focus on life and when you DO shoot footage theres actually a reason behind it. Shooting electronic video has sort of become what listening to music has. When I was younger listening to music was an event. of course there were many times with the radio, or as background while cleaning or driving. But for really good records, or in times of emotional need, I would sit there in the room with headphones, staring at the artwork and actually enjoying the experience. I love the digital world, theres so much flexibility and such an ease of editing, color grading, etc.. but man, shooting footage.. the moments are priceless and you realize the footage you shot would probably be carelessly glossed over and thrown into the "recycle bin", always in search of the "perfect" shot. Perfection is an illusion and the closer we get, the further from life we tend to stray. I love seeing your footage and its great to see people embracing analog footage, and not just for the novelty of going "old school", but to really appreciate and find worth in the process and cherish the end results. keep on keeping on man

Man, I literally was thinking I want a camera people will act normally around and I can catch real moments. Then I remembered you posted a video about super 8 a few months back, came here, watched, you confirmed everything I wanted. ha ha THANKS!

This reminded me that I rocked a PXL-2000 in the 90s. It recorded low-re monochrome images to compact audio cassettes. Awesome.

The only software that I know of that will let you edit in 18 FPS is DaVinci Resolve. Finding a Super 8 camera that films at 24 FPS is difficult. I use Resolve because you can get the free version or the Studio version which is a one time payment. It is better than Premiere Pro in my opinion.

Super gr8 video haha, makes me want to shoot a couple videos a year 🙌🏻🙌🏻 but you should look into a $15 35mm panoramic or half frame point and shoot instead of the wack disposable cameras lol, I love my Olympus pen ees

I dont think you'll be able to find a usable 35mm motion or picture film camera for 15 dollars. a functional 35mm film camera is going to be in the thousands (if youre lucky)

Awesome video, I'm much the same in the sense that I started filming at the age of 8 on our Panasonic VHS video camera (1987). I then got my first video camera a PXL 2000 that shoots on audio cassette, I'm sure you know of that camera. I've since bought a Super 8 Chinon xl 722 to shoot on. I was wondering have you ever tried syncing audio say from a phone (48HZ)? I understand it can be tough if the camera does not have crystal time sync which most super 8 camera lack. Any thoughts on syncing would be greatly appreciated, or you experience in this.

Why do people always leave the rebate and sprocket holes on finished films? It's great if you've got a scan with a nice big oversized gate, but please give it a crop eh? lol As someone who has spent a bit of time projecting film, if I can see sprocket holes on screen, something's gone badly wrong lol

Question: I have a Canon 1014, that I got for $50 Canadian, about a year or two ago. It's in great physical shape but does not work (at least, when batteries added, it does nothing). Is it worth fixing?

Hi! Thanks for the video! When you shot 500T in daylight, did you turn on the filter (the sun symbol on the switch) ? This should activate the orange filter and compensate the blue tone of the 500T

Is it still working? If it is then sell it as fast as you can. The 514XL-S has a gear inside that disintegrates over time. It's going to happen and when it does you can throw it in the bin. Buy a 514XL instead.

Soundfilm sadly hasn't been made since the late 80s anymore. However the good thing about Soundfilm Super8 cameras is they usually run a bit more stable speed-wise and also are a bit more quiet regarding the mechanical noises.

After paying close attention to your reasons for shooting Super 8 film I have questions for you. I, like you, love shooting film because to me it is really what was invented by the Lumiere Brothers and improved by many as time went by. Compared to digital, the images are all real, each and every one of them. them you project them, you edit by actually cutting at the risk of regretting it later, you splice making you piece of art more vulnerable BUT ….you love it because that is real movie making. OK…BUT….when I think of the price and the lack of sound (if wanted) and the fact that everybody seems to have the film digitalized…..well, does it still make sense when we can make beautiful videos, beautifully edited with either live sound portions plus added narration or whatever we want FOR FREE !!! (The cost of a good camcorder being very low) an SD cards for less than $10.00 ! Now Shooting with a phone, for me is a real no no….just looking at people shooting with them bothers me ! they are not physically built correctly for the job) i have reg. 8mm film dating as far back as 1960 and still without any scratches after several projections. Lately. I have copied some of those onto digital which gave me the chance to make some nice editing and titles. Nobody wants to watch slides nor movies on a screen ! No matter what you shoot !!!! They can’t be held properly. But, I love looking at my Bolex, Euming equipment. I like their construction and feel.

You tired to look at the world through a lens? But isn't it what you do by shooting on Super8? It has no flip-out screen. Seriously, everyone who does not want to shoot "serious video" shoots and edits on a smartphone. Weird to have a smartphone in your pocket, but natural to lug around a Super8 camera? Right, sure, of course. If you want a jittery look, shoot in 60p and drop two frames out of three - 20p should be jittery enough.
