I just got the exact watch for the exact reasons. I never got a smart watch because it would only make my life harder not easier, mainly in the need to charge it daily and upgrade or service it. Enter the casio bluetooth enabled solar watch. Zero intervention needed and at a low cost, that comes in a modest black look. I am surprised there are not many more people like us who see the sense in this and similar watches.

Smart watches are not 24hr watch. Only while at gym or working out. Gshock is 24×365×10hr watch
@geopapa804 жыл бұрын
One other factor other than the ones you mentioned is serviceability. Smartwatches are mostly not serviceable, while even if the rechargeable battery on your solar gshock fail sometime, it is replaceable.

Is the vibration alarm strong enough to wake you up? I’m debating between watches right now. Strong vibration alarms are my main priority.

Try using an apple watch with gloves, or under the rain, you simply can't. A watch needs buttons, that's why I hate all touch-screen watches, they are simply tiny ipads on your wrist.

"Complications" is a very old watch term for all the little side dials and date-wheels, etc.

Recently bought GW B5600, what I miss the most is contactless payment ability. I decided to use apple watch for work and some sport activities in other scenaries g-shock for example for longer trips and so on
@PixelPoison3 жыл бұрын
What i miss most from the apple watch is dynamically updating complications (like outside temperature). There is actually a gshock which can do that now, but they haven’t released a higher end version with solar. I really like solar.

I have to agree. I’m still a proud owner of GShock Aviation GW-A1000. Just the thought of charing your watch every other day is a no for me. Plus the fact that you have to be careful using it as it is not that durable. Then there are newer models popping up every year.

Atomic wrist watches have been around since the 90’s
@PixelPoison3 жыл бұрын
Yes, however you have to be in range of a transmitter. Not only that, but the US one is in danger of being shut down by the government in favor of internet based timekeeping. And atomic watches don’t stay in sync when you cross time zones. You would need to manually tell it where you are.
@oscarosullivan45133 жыл бұрын
@@PixelPoison Thanks its a shame the time signal in America is under threat what is internet timekeeping
@PixelPoison3 жыл бұрын
I just mean that instead of broadcasting a radio signal the government would rather every device get their time from servers on the internet. The same way your phone and computer get their time. These Casio watches are special in that they can use both radio and internet (via a paired phone) to set their time. Very few devices still use the old radio signal, but it would suck if it shut down for those who still use it. Using an internet server is cheaper for the government and technically it’s better, but that would mean every watch would have to connect to the internet (or have some device like a phone do it for them).

This is exactly why I refuse to give up my G shock for an Apple Watch. I really love Apple but I need a watch that's indestructible and I do not care about fitness features. All I need it to do is tell me the date and time. Everything else can be done on my iPhone anyways. I would much rather buy a new Titanium G Shock with Tough Solar.

Not to mention Apple announce new model almost each year make the one you have obsolete in Apple game and make some people FOMO wanting to upgrade to the higher end every year which doesnt make sense to me, Ill stick with Iphones, but Ill never interested in buying AW from the beginning, G Shock all the way 😂

I recently replaced the GShock with a Garmin Instinct 2S Solar. I find it to be a good middle ground between a classic gshock and an Apple Watch. I agree with what you said, and the Garmin may be a step too far into the smartwatch direction for some, but it’s something to look into for those that come across this comment:) There maybe possibly might be a video coming, at some point, on it

By this day in age the b5600 with Bluetooth should at least have a step counter and other activities tracker. I would love a g shock, but I just can't conceive that my $40 watch band has more features than a $160+ watch just because it's tougher! Casio needs to step it up!
@Marsalien1003 жыл бұрын
G shocks aren't made for fitness. If you need it to have those features you can always buy the G Shock Move watch that's dedicated for fitness. The main selling point of G shocks is their time accuracy and DURABILITY. These watches are literally indestructible and that's the first thing that G shock owners care about.

Apple watch is Tim Cook personal taste, fashion oriented, useless for daily basis. G-shock otherwise, is for men, it is for hard worker, adventurer, busy people, and for someone wants something works, it's just works.

The Apple Watch is actually Sir Johnny Ive’s creation. Tim Cook simply “sold” the product to the audience.

And I have both a G-Shock (three models) and an Apple Watch. And I love each of them in their own way. As a result, I have the best of all worlds and enjoy it. Long gone are the days when I honestly believed that a person could only have one watch. And when I realized that this was not the case, life became much easier. :)
