My wife owns a 2020 GT in Lamborghini Purple and its been pretty flawless. Bought it pre-owned and was the 3rd owner. Only real major issue in over 2 years was from an aftermarket "autoblip" box that one of the owners had installed. Threw a CEL, put into "limp mode". It corrected itself the next morning, as she took it to the local indy shop & they cleared fhe codes. Probably the little box caused the brake switch to go haywire. But once the blip box was turned off, its been fine. The trunk is intermittent with opening, but i figured out how to open it more consistently (pressing dead center right above the latch on the hatch while pressing the button on the fob). Other than that, its been A BLAST!! I'm sorry you had some issues. Every manufacturer will have some cars that have issues. Its inevitable as it's a hand built car. But problems like what my wife has had won't keep me from wanting to buy my own car in time. This is my attainable dream car! Good luck with your next car.

Ugh…. What a nightmare! I own a 21 GT that has been a pleasure to own in the 21,000 miles and counting that I have driven the car. Window regulator & crazing headlights have been my only issues. The dealership you purchased the car from I would suggest everyone to stay away from, they are less then a hour from me, however I drove 2+ hours to Gator, they actually know how to work on these cars! Good luck with whatever you get, anyone else considered a evora I would bet 99% of the GT’s have been more like my experience then Dylan’s. The Emira’s have been out long enough they should have the bugs worked out, however for me I would wait a few years until a more performance oriented one is released .

@@dylannipple Yeah sounds like it. Sorry to hear man. In most cases with this Toyota power plant these really are the most reliable sports car you can get. Being hand built though they do have little issues here in there you can usually fix yourself. You of course shouldn't have to, But way easier than taking to the dealer. Lots of Lotus guys seem to have basic mechanic skills as well to own them lol. I used to have an Exige and it was the same story.

@ O I plan too! I just dont plan to purchase anything on the Evora platform again. Looking older like Elise or an Esprit. At least then when it faults its an old British car and to be expected. A bit annoying when its brand new.
@nintense127 күн бұрын
Sorry for your experience. Seems like you had to deal with really bad mechanics. I consider myself a hobby mechanic, and halfway through your story, it was screaming a wiring harness. Own an Evora 2010 for over 8 years and it’s reliable as any good 14 years old car.
@dylannipple24 күн бұрын
I am a career technician but sadly my professional opinion means nothing to the dealers. They do what they can get approved.

@@dylannippleI never used the Lotus warranty as I got it 5 years old, but I never experienced with other cars I own that the manufacturer declined the dealer diagnosis. Not that I consider dealer mechanics as top notch, but at least they see the car. Things like that are really bad for the brand.

Yea sounds like an earthing problem or wiring harness, probably 90% of these issues would have been fixed with a new wiring harness fitted and then most of the other issues which are the result of sloppy work taking the dash apart each time would have been avoided.

@dylannipple13 күн бұрын
Yea it’s interesting to hear different views. There are several people that think its okay and to just deal with it as it a quirk of the car. I feel the brand can’t get better if the owners do not make it a point to bring the issues up.
@evansc3580Ай бұрын
It’s not Lotus that’s at fault here. The car comes with a factory warranty to sort all this out. It’s that the dealership network in the US is weak and unskilled in working on these cars. These hand built cars need experts that only specialise in working on these.
@dylannippleАй бұрын
The Lotus dealer I worked with was in continuous contact with the field engineers trying to resolve and doing as they said. Lotus’ fix all and solve all issues was not able to resolve and it continued to have issues.
@evansc3580Ай бұрын
@@dylannipple I hear what your saying. I live in Australia and have had 3 new Lotus cars over 15 years. All have been reliable and gave hardly any problems. However, the few little problems I had I obviously went to the Lotus dealer to fix as the cars were under factory warranty. Or so I thought. I quickly learnt that the Lotus dealer was sending the cars out to a private non dealer engineering workshop that specialised in Lotus's. In fact they were a race team and actually raced these things. They were mostly English and all race engineers! Mate you wouldn't believe the difference! Simple stuff like rattling seat rails that I had taken in multiple times to be fixed and started off ok and then went back to rattling for example was fixed immediately. My point is that these dealerships don't receive the real world hands-on training and as these cars are limited in number, don't receive adequate training. Coupled with the usual HR problems of staff moving on, not giving a dam etc it can actually make the problem worst. As you said correctly stated these are mostly hand built specialist cars (the Evora/Emira less so) and as such they need specialist technician/Engineers working on them. Everyone else will just make the problem worst and I believe this might have been the case here.

Wow! Here I am thinking about purchasing the EMIRA. I don't know we'll see if I can't afford the C8 Z06..
@stirkac2 ай бұрын
Looks like incompetent dealerships, rather than Lotus themselves are at fault here. Most likely, all of this is a wiring harness issue, and it should all be replaced at the third MAF/cluster change. Atleast this experience is somewhat offset by the fact you didn't loose money 🤷♂️

Sir, please, pick up a Lexus, Toyota, or Honda. Camry XSE is an incredible car, the gas mileage is off-the-hook good. Nice silent ride, and you're likely to have a decade or more of trouble-free operation. Look at Toyota Crown, those cars have very nice interiors and are worth the premium. Lexus and Honda have some excellent sedans that cost a fraction of these "supercar" shitboxes. I hope you heed this advice. Once you get something reliable and quiet, you'll never go back.

@@dylannipple Agree. But I've got a few years on you. My advice: learn to love boring *early* in your life. The money you're going to spend on a BMW, Vette, or Audi? Invest it. Buy a CD. Buy a dividend fund. Put it in a balanced index fund. In a few short years, you'll realize how important this advice is. And to a person, anyone who blew money on overpriced cars really regrets it as they get older. They would much rather have passive income, versus a rapidly depreciating automobile. Best of luck.
