I think it is always important to mention that the 1060 is the 6GB version. The 3GB version of the 1060 would trade blows with the GTX 970 and both of those cards are now reaching the end of their useful life. The GTX 1060 6GB version though still has life because not only does it have more vRAM but more processing cores than its cut down brother.

I don't know my friend, I have a feeling you haven't gotten a taste of 144hz or 1440p. It's not just better for gaming, you get so much more room on your screen for tasks, the videos and the interface are much smoother and cleaner. I myself was on 1080p with 75hz for many years but after switching to 1440p 144hz you couldn't make me go back even if you paid me.

2016 prebuilt I had the 1060 3gb in my rig, still raided on WoW with it (tanked some Nighthold and onwards). Going 1440P high refresh would ruin it for you, the 1060 since you need to get a higher gpu, maybe a cpu upgrade also. Been 1440P since 2019, Have 7900XTX and 7800XT, it's nice but it's overrated having high end stuff. Have a 3060 12gb also. 4080 Super is tempting but I don't need that either. There's a breakeven on all this gear. FSR is also great and DX11 still works wonders in a lot of titles.
