People swear by intermittent fasting but I did it for 4 years straight. First year was two meals a day noon and 6:00 p.m. The rest of the time was one meal a day. I wasn't hungry all the time but I also never lost any weight I actually gained weight. I felt like shit all the time but everyone kept telling me I just was doing it wrong so I kept changing the way I did it I just kept feeling worse so now I eat breakfast and it's better for me.

I most appreciate how open and honest about needing to change or modify what you are doing. When health is the goal we will need to adjust throughout time as we age, have different life events, new issues need addressed, and so on. Fasting is not bad until you abuse it. If you are at a weight that requires more food to maintain your weight you need to consume more. Building muscle requires more food. Fasting is a tool to heal you and can be used from time to time throughout your life to help repair damaged cells and improve body/ organ function. If you started to lose muscle you were starving your body that is not fasting that is starvation. Please make sure you consult a doctor fasting when you have low body fat is tricky. Im strong supporter and believe in fasting for healing but fasting at low body weight should be under supervisión because people who are underweight or have low body fat can be harmful so being supervised to help heal or regain cell health is necessary.

I agree fasting isn't for regular long term, just for short term like for specific severe health issues etc. I had to do OMAD for the past 2 weeks because of severe health issues, and fasting saved my life- I kid you not. Yes, daily calorie restriction leads to smaller, colder and live longer. Eating more increases strength and building muscle. To save time cooking and cleaning you can try meal preping once per week. If not hungry in morning its probably better to not force feed. Try fasting only once or twice per week and get the benefits of both fasting and feeding

@@justbanging_mammooth7779 I have the same problem as Kevin, not a lot of fat, but if you're on a carnivorous or keto-like diet, even if you eat 3 times a day, you won't spike insulin as hard as a standard American diet person who snacks all day and spikes insulin many times a day. Insulin can be advantageous if you do it right

I run after work (can't go before as I work too early), and I feel like absolute garbage if I eat anything beforehand, even if it's just a small amount in the morning, when I'm not hungry to begin with. I have played with eating just fat and no protein before work and that doesn't seem to affect how I feel during my runs, but it also doesn't seem to affect anything else either, so I don't see much point. I OMAD and have my meal around 4pm, and I eat a lot. Definitely no concern of undereating for me. Everyone is different 😊

Hi! I have seen so many women on KZbin talk about the harmful effects of long term fasting, but I am curious if you have seen any information/research from Dr. Mindy Pelz here on KZbin? She addresses how women should fast differently with their cycles, not the same all the time. That any negative effects with long-term fasting would be because of not eating when necessary to support progesterone production. I'm curious what you think (: She talks about how the regular detoxification from fasting will help heavy metals and toxins leave the body, rather than build up in joints and fat tissue, keeping people overweight and chronically in pain. I think this is so interesting based on your experience!

Smaller, more frequent PROTEIN meals? Meals that don't spike your insulin that much? Just wondering cuz more meals means more spikes unless they're a particular kind, right?
@LillieKane
@LillieKane Жыл бұрын
Great question! It may be a small spike but since the protein is paired with fat, there's usually not too high of a spike. It's normal to have a spike after a meal. The problem comes in if someone stays in that elevated state and their blood sugars don't come down quickly. I've worn a CGM multiple times and the highest my blood sugars spike after a meal is around 115 and that number came after I experimented being fasted, working out, and then eating a banana with glass of milk. Even still, 115 is not very high. Some people wake up with their blood sugars higher than that.
