I am putting up with it coz my eldest daughter can look after her 2 brothers in the morning before the house help comes at around 10 am. I love all your tips and especially having to do my own housework and automating the housework. I do laundry, (i have a washing machine) i fold, i clean the bedrooms, i clean the living room, vacuum the rugs and clean the kitchen not to mention doing all the cooking and still go to work. And its so liberating to know that i can do it all. Thanks for the motivation and inspiration. New friend here. Happy to connect. See you around.

I'm a perfectionist. I was done with househelps last year June. I have survived and I have two school goers, one is special needs. It has not been easy but this far it has worked out. Early mornings and late nights are exhausting but the joy of accomplishment and having not to stress over a grownup in your space doing everything contrary to your instructions, lets me sleep well at night. But I'm blest coz I work from home. I will find new ways to adjust when the rona passes and life has to go back to normal. For now I'm househelp-stress-free! Great channel by the way Suzy.

Like any job, as Kenyans in we need to look at the pay and conditions we subject househelps to. Most of us would never work for ourselves given the way we treat our maids. Many times nikisikia ati mtu ako na shida ya househelps, I cannot help but wonder at the pay and conditions of the work place. For example, kama uko na 2 kids and husband, the maid is expected to cater to them, wash clothes, prepare lunch, clean the house and have dinner ready without any help..oh and iron clothes etc etc. Most wives can#t even handle their own homes on a weekend, then the maid is expected to do this 6 days a week for a pay of less than 10K... Kenyan wives, wake up! I always says, stay home for a week doing what your maid does, then you will learn whether you are a good employer in terms of pay and work conditions!
@wheelscourier64283 жыл бұрын
And what do women who earn that 10k or less do
@suzyshomestead3 жыл бұрын
Very true. If you have watched any of my other videos about househelps, then you know that I totally agree with you. 😄😄 However, let's just agree that there are a lot of employers who do all this and more and the problem is actually the help. Saying that employers are the problem 100% of the time is really not accurate, IMHO.. Thanks for watching! 🌼🌻

This will be a solution to our girls not going to Kuwait to be murdered. House help is a decent job, more convenient than so many others. Hakuna jam, hakuna kulipa fare everyday, hakuna hassel, hakuna Landlord every end month, etc. Etc It's a cool job if we change our attitude. The only issue is matharau saa zingine na hio inadepend na how you take it you can decide to ignore it and pick on the icing sugar coating. Matharau iko kwa every profession including president. in our home i mean my parent home we stopped having a house help when i was 15 now im at my 30s and i dont have a house help in my house and its nothing different cause im used to house chores and working so i totally subscribe to the idea that children must cheap in it will help them a great deal Funfact: i tried to have a househelp when i gave birth but the horror i had frm only two househelps i said never again...i gave up when my baby was 8 months

Yes imagine you can run your house without a help however if you have small kids and have a full time job you need wisdom. I agree with your tips especially the schedule and fly lady...begun the baby steps am on day 6 and loving it.
@suzyshomestead3 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, with small kids and a full time job, some juggling is required. But I always think of the people in the western world who have jobs, kids and no nannies. How do they survive? We can learn a lot from them. However I do feel that we are blessed to have the option of househelps. For all their faults, they really make our lives easier. Well done on the Baby steps! Keep flying! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Me watching this knowing full well that i live in England and i will not have the luxury of house help when tbis baby arrives 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 . Yup, i'm going part time when my maternity leave ends. My partner will carry on full time. I refuse to pay exorbitant fees for nursery. My dear, you will survive without one. You can do it. U've got this mama.
@wambui45903 жыл бұрын
U know how it goes there. A house help is a foreign term there. I wish you all the best, I'm sure you will manage atleast your partner is there and incase you'll feel exhausted by the second year, then you can try few hours in the nursery and also cos of the socialization of the child.

"progress not perfection".... Well said. Women - Mums need to stop sending fare-wacheni kutuma fare!!!! The messege you send sets tone to how the DM will treat you even if she shows up..... Anyone who is credible will find fare which they can refund after first salary. Whenever something costs you, you tend to put value to the same be it a job or a "thing".....
@suzyshomestead3 жыл бұрын
😅😅😅 for once I gave in to desperation and sent that fare. Bad mistake! I hope people learn from this. And you are so right. You value what you pay for. Right on! 👌🏾💯

I experienced the same November 2020. This lady was referred to me by my friends help, she was in Kakamega. Asked for fare, I told her to use hers I would reimburse. Next day morning I call her she says she's on the way, kept checking up during the day she was almost in Nairobi at 4. Never calling me but she was picking up. 7pm she hadn't called. I figured I had been played after waiting for her a whole day. 😭
