Great video again! I Swithced from VRay to Corona in 2017 and it has transformed my work in Architectural Visualization. Much faster setup to render scenes saves soo much time. The light-mix is great being able to tweek lights while rendering or interactive. A good tip is to roughtly preset your lights correctly before light mix so that the lightmix setting is roughly 1 in frame buffer resulting in fewer fireflys and unwanted noise. Also my buddy went to Corona for the offical training and they are a really nice bunch of cool people to deal with.
@ExacoMvm4 жыл бұрын
There are few arguable things: 1:27 V-Ray has alot of settings, but it's for full control to make the renders super optimized and fast ( also super biased ) , normally it's just 3 settings to worry about: Noise Threshold, Min and Max subdivs. 1:34 It's good for newbies, but not much for experienced people, also Max has built-in material library in the Slate editor also V-Ray has plugins like Siger Shaders which imo has way better quality materials. I personally never use material presets ( except for draft projects or if it's my own presets ). 2:03 V-Ray wins hands down for the VFB. Corona has no OCIO :C 2:24 That's totally false but i've used Octane and FStorm and i know exactly what you're talking about, however for most part it's just an illusion as the Math behind is +- exact same. /watch?v=UwjVbRYoDZ0 What i personally like in Corona is the Hemisphere HDRI ( ground projection ) option which is very nice for Automotive renders or lets say some props.

I use Vray. I will always use vray. It has become like a religion for me :D... I like corona I was even thinking of switching to corona. But there was this one project where I had to render glass and the result I was getting by vray was much more realistic compared to the result from the corona. I even took help from a long time corona user he couldn't do much. So I like vray as much of the online library which I use for models are Vray supported also render time is a very crucial thing for me. Render time equals money. With lower budget projects, lower render times are very significant... And nowadays here in India clients by default start with a conversation like there's no budget in this project, we will give you good money in the next project.

@MauroSanna4 жыл бұрын
@@Jez1963UK Perhaps you have never been on the official forum or in any cgi group, where V-Ray users like myself discuss about the engine (and not only that). The glass material is one of the things that all V-Ray users constantly complain about. It's simply not on par with what other rendering engines (Corona, Arnold, Octane, Redshift, to name few) can produce. That's why you never heard of this, I guess. To get a decent glass quality in V-Ray you have to work harder than with Corona (or the others I mentioned). There are also other things inferior in V-Ray, not just the glass.

Once I moved to Corona, I never looked back. So much easy and friendly interface. The only drawback I would say is the need for more RAM memory for large scenes. Corona is using the processor power, not the graphics card power, and if you happen to have a heavy scene, you need a lot of RAM. One thing that always annoyed me in V-ray was the endless options and places to check, or un-check. The more buttons to click, more work and time wasted. Corona spares time by optimizing all the settings, so you almost have nothing to worry about. I am sure V-ray will catch up, but for now, I would stick with Corona.

For sure Corona has better Cinematic colour and contrast properties compare to Vray, but the problem comes when it's about the hardware since Corona is a CPU based render engine, in case We want to upgrade the hardware,We have to go for a new CPU which at times might require a new motherboard too if the CPU is very high-end, but the advantage about GPU renderer is that you can just add an extra graphics card and you have added an extra powerhouse to your machine. Hence using Vray as a GPU or Hybrid renderer definitely speeds up the process and we all know time is money. Finally, it is all about the project we are working on, for time demanding projects maybe we should use Octane/Vray/Redshift but if we have time to render a shot for long, why not use Corona :)

Corona is my favorite render! Especially because its lightmix. But now when I learn particles plugins (Phoenix FD and tyFlow) I force to use Vray😞. Because Corona don't support thouse plugins

Corona 6 supports them now.

I love corona too but you should go back to Vray now with the V5 because it is way better, simple and faster !

I was using Vray in the beginning of my carrer and found it great that there is so much to learn but thats not what the clients pay for. They want fast results and check their ideas in the field of architecture. Than FStorm came along and this was really fast it is really a great tool withe a great developer and a great community. Than I have to do a project in Corona and it was really easy to get into it. Now I was forced back to V-Ray after several years in FStorm and a few month with Corona and I have to say it so overloaded with stuff that you will never need as an Archviz Artist. The other two Render engines I mentioned a focusing on userfriedly interface so that you can grow your skill as an artist but V-Ray have to many features for the field of Archviz. So stay away from V-Ray if you only have to do still images or easy walk through animations.

Why would you use 3DS in the first place ?

To this day it is still (one of) the most used 3D software in the industry, so a variety of options why really

@@Endalful That is because it's old and patched up with plugins to fix the lack of content, in a purely native comparative manner, SweetHome3D is a better option already

I mean logically speaking if the engine gives higher quality it will take more time to render, its not something we should complain about, kinda similar to when people complain that high end laptops are heavier... Ya'll want magic...

I have started working for a new company and they use vray. As a long time corona user I am really missing it a lot. Vray is so confusing there are way too many settings and it's far too easy to click something by mistake in them and completely screw up your scene. I also find it much slower

I have the same story, light mix let me move to corona... I think you forgot one another important tool which is corona converter which lets the beginner easily move to corona without thinking how to use lights and mats that he already set from another render engine. But now it seems vray 5 invent light mix which may be the same of corona..
@ArchVizArtist4 жыл бұрын
You're right ;) We use corona converter a lot (we have most of the models with V-Ray materials). Actually we are testing a new V-Ray 5 right now, we will do a video about it asap (hopefully on Saturday ;)
