The term meme has evolved to be defined as an internet funny when really at its core, it's meant to represent an idea. That explains why some are meant to be funny and others not.

back in the day it just meant something that showed up on repeat, over and over, so being "funny" wasn't obviously the first thing you'd think, you would probably go "oh that thing! I've seen it before!". Probably the majority of the time someone says "meme" nowadays it's just referring to an image with captions, so more likely an "internet image", but it merged with the term "meme"

Dear ibz, i am a man suffering with a chronic fuel drinking addiction, i cannot contain my urges to drink gallons upon gallons of various different, energy producing substances, this is a real issue. Going outside wont solve my problems (my car has no gas) and all my friends and family wont come to my house to socialize in fear that i will consume all of their combustion liquids. Looking at those "in my 20s" memes really made me start pushing to be a better me. My 20s have been figuring out I have epilepsy and if im eligible for surgery. Its been rough im not able to go out much due to having seizures. So i do what i can and enjoy what i can. Im 23 and I'm getting closer to having them figured out. I was at harborview in Seattle last month and saw a guy take a sh!t on EMS drop off out my window. That was funny to say the least. Ive been working on myself to get through having at least one seizure a month. I look back after my knee surgery when my seizures started becoming uncontrolled. I weighed 380 pounds after recovery and being able to walk again. A few days ago i was 275. Im 6'4 im very proud of myself. Im bumbed out about my vehicles and not being able to work on them. I guess what im saying if you truly try you can improve yourself. Ive been having at least one seizure a month and have been improving where i can. Things will get better for you too

I've come to realize these kinda memes remind me of millenial humor, "This trashbag is me", "adulting is so hard", "dying inside". Not trying to sound high and mighty, its just that these edgy and self-depricating memes don't do it for me anymore. Self-depricating humor is good for coping with stress and it's nice to relate with others having the same struggle. But too many people are just wallowing in it.

My favorite part of this is counter meme culture. For example a while ago people just started cropped porn to try to be funny. Then a week after people replied to this by saying “OMG cropped porn!!! I agree with what you say about how going outside and doing something to meet new people can benefit, one thing about that though is that some people are genuinly too scared to meet new people and are very nervous around the people they already know. Especially for people with autism. Dont know why it happens but for a very large part of my life i would go out of my way to specifically not meet anyone and to stay away from people. Dont really know why cause other times i would do the exact opposite but its weird and unexplainable. Some people are just worried i guess. And I dont even think worried is the right description for it. Its just a feeling you get that makes you want to stay the hell away from everyone

The point of a meme isn't strictly to make you laugh, it's to communicate an idea. They're a way for someone to express themselves in a compact and concise way without having to write like 70 paragraphs to get your full feelings across. Sure, there should be memes that make you laugh, but sometimes people need to express themselves in another way. Not excusing bad memes, but every meme exists for a reason.

I agree that these memes aren't funny and are just an opportunity for people on the internet to complain about how sad/lonely they are. However, as someone who has experienced terrible social anxiety, it's fucking hard to just go outside and meet people. It's sad to say, but meeting new people to someone with crippling social anxiety feels like you are about to go into a final exam, or take your drivers test or something. It's extremely nerve-racking and so it stops people from wanting to do it, even though they know they should to fix their problems. Love your content ibz, but just wanted to let you know that telling these people to "just go outside" isn't super easy for them. (First time I have taken a meme this seriously 💀).

I fucking love memes because they are an incredible unique way of humour. I especially love YTPs for their effort in editing, not to mention a good joke makes a point. It's dumb to say "it's just a dumb meme" when there are people making memes about religion or politics. Memes are no different to any other comedy, and to that you see them as such. They just seem odd to take them seriously.

I strive to have a positive and elite mentality. I joke that I’m gonna crush whatever I do. It’s soo much better too. You do more, you feel happier, healthier, more energetic, and you achieve an incredible amount of things, just insanely more productive . I just can’t handle losers in my life with these dumb jokes anymore. Some people go through hard times, and some are just losers by choice

I agree with this, especially in blackpill/looksmaxx communities these memes can be nothing more than something that enables negative behavior, but I personally find another purpose for the 'real' memes. While I can't deny - the creators are typically people who post this as a cope, what I do like is that the memes create a community for people who let me know I'm not alone in what I feel. Especially since I am someone who is forced to suppress most of what of I feel, because I need to get work done/life doesn't care/etc. I am often disappointed with my life, which is valid, everyone is, I just need to work for what I want. However, just because I need to work on what I want, doesn't make my feelings any less real. I think it's very simple and reductive for you to just say that going outside will solve most of your problems, especially since I have a healthy friend group, spend time with God, go out often, barely spend time on social media, etc. I'm happy that you can do well on these terms, but for some people (like me), just going out isn't enough. Of course, wallowing in self-pity does nothing, but feeling like you're validated is a nice feeling, that's mostly why I like the 'relatable' memes, despite their pathetic origins.

7:53 The meme is funny because we often feel like we're losers and lonely and that everyone else has friends and we don't when in actuality it just confirms that the issue is larger than us and theres no reason to worry about it because everyone is going through it right now, its not just you bro, stay strong. I know you might think "oh how is that funny" but imagine telling yourself that you suck and that you're a loser for most of your life and then you realise that in actuality, everyone is just lonely, nobody has friends lol, its funny, it's like "ohh lmfao im an idiot" when people talk about having friends and healthy relationships or whatever they're just joking, because 90% of our generation is lonely as hell and that's not particularly a good thing or a bad thing. Memes aren't necessarily supposed to be funny, they're supposed to convey ideas, and having memes like that is genuinely good for society because instead of being told "You're not alone. You're not alone." you actually get PROOF that you're not alone, because the memes are POPULAR, which means that A LOT OF PEOPLE must relate to it! Which is really reassuring to know! Relatable memes aren't supposed to be funny, they're supposed to help people, it seems, and they do. Nothing hurts more than being told "nah bro, its just you. you're a loser, everybody but you bro, just end your life." thats why people like relatability, it makes them feel safe. That Silent Hill 20s meme is funny to me because its such a goofy clip but it is so god damn true look at our little legs run mindlessly in the void lol.

As a memer, one thing I want to say is, the main function of meme most of the time is not even being funny, but a way to express your inner emotions, what you are feeling at that right moment and just having and idea that this template will go with that

And there are those types of "memes" you can just feel the person projecting their own insecurities and problems but not in like a satirical or ironic way, which just comes off as sad than anything else. Those "memes" genuinely feel like someone is tryna hijack my mind with their incompetent whining.

Relatable memes are the opposite of untrue, comedic stories, that are so ridiculius- its funny (or in shorter term: comedy) But they are still a format, that can be experimented o and twisted for a comedic effect If there were no cringe relatable memes, the funny ironic ones would have this refreshing funny effect Imho.

A lot of the people who post sad memes are just associating with sadness since thats what they see online all the time. But sometimes there really is underlying conditions that cant just be solved by going outside. Things like depression arent just people being sad and needing something to cheer them up, its a disease. And while going outside and socializing might help with the symptoms, like taking Vicodin to help with headaches, Vicodin wont solve whatever is causing the headache, like dehydration or a concussion. I love you, IBZ, but some of these takes are a bit shitty ngl.

Salam'u'alacom Ibz. Agreed. Memes and jokes are funny if they reflect reality. Everyone, to an extent, gets this. So when you see some of these memes, you're seeing a brief glimpse of that persons actual beliefs, to what they think is "based and real." And yeah, not a fan of those Doomer memes. Like come on, let's uplift people, not make'em miserable. Also OOF... That got real at the end. X) Great video~.
