Aunt Johnny here: I taught all my horses this with Clinton Anderson equipment 22 years ago. They do not forget. A couple of months ago my big old fat dominant mare got into the tent where we keep the feed and all the tools, rakes and junk. I knew something was up when I did not see her with the other horse…sure enough she had gotten into the tent sideways. When I got to her she was just standing there waiting for me to get her out…no drama, dust, or panic. Easy peasy….that is because I listened and did what Clinton Anderson recommended and took the time to teach them. Park your ego and clock at the gate…take care of your horses.

Thank you, Clinton, for your advice about hobbles, very helpful. On most of your videos, you say be creative with your desensitizing. Could this work as a desensitizing tool? Is have a sensory board for your horse to touch with their muzzle that is out 24/7 (it would have 3 different textures on it in different spots, for example yoga mat, towel, and tarp or whatever your horse is scared of). Still use the method on the horse. For example, the horse is afraid of a plastic bag you continue shaking the plastic bag at the horse until he stands and shows sign of relaxation, then you release and repeat. After training put the plastic bag on the sensory touch board that the horse can explore on his own out in his pen.
