Wash U grad here- almost 30 years out. yes, Wash U is a much more challenging school than USC- I totally disagree about name recognition- if you're going into ANYTHING in the medical field, that degree will be WAY more powerful than USC. Hands down. Not even comparable, But yes, if you're looking to party or for football, USC is better. To each his own! I wouldn't bother going to wash U for any other major besides hard sciences or engineering though- save your money. There's cheaper schools for other majors. The location is AMAZING- and there's TONS to do - safe area- no gang bangs. Very safe at night in Clayton. No, you don't have time to party. The winter was super fun, yes I was a Cali girl. But it's too hard for a lot of people. If you can't hack it so be it. I wouldn't go there to be an athlete though- nobody cares. Good greek scene too

I transferred from WashU after my freshman year in 2015, and I've never met someone else who did. At least among the people I knew, no one even talked about it! I got a lot of judgment for transferring to a state school, but it was a much better environment for me. I agree that it's SUCH a bubble! I'm currently living in LA and I can imagine how much more you like it here :)

Good luck to you. USC or not, I truly hope for you that college isn't the best time of your life. Every phase of your life should feel wonderful and better than the last. Don't peak in college!

I have a daughter at WashU (your class) and it’s a great fit she was accepted to Pomona and Brown but after visiting all three WashU was more her speed. I have a son who got accepted at USC for engineering but after researching/comparing aid he decided on Harvey Mudd College. It’s still in the LA area but it’s more STEM focused and way smaller so each student gets more professor attention and there are no grad students to compete with for research opportunities. (It’s undergrad only). The party scene/sports culture was not on his radar at all so it was a better fit. I have another son that was at a huge private school with a big sports culture but he’s decided to not continue school and join the workforce. He felt college was wasting his time and money for what he was pursuing. Definitely research and get the match of where you will get most out of college and thrive. I’ve seen other KZbinrs graduate from elite universities that hated their college experience. Others end up with a mountain of debt and a degree they don’t use. Enjoy the journey and make good friends. Life doesn’t begin or end based off of where you did or didn’t go to school. (Except for a very small minority in Medical/legal professions)

I live not far from WashU and as someone who doesn’t have a car public transportation is great of course not a night lol. St Louis University is a short train ride away as well as Midtown that has all the night spots. Also crime is everywhere lol. Not just St. Louis 😂

washu is my #1 choice because i want to play with the st louis gatekeepers but hearing this is freaking me out a little 😭

don't worry i go to washu and everyone i know loves it here. The academics can be hard depending on what ur used to but once you get used to studying it's not too bad and culturally everyone is super nice and collaborative and likes to have fun

this convinced me to take washu off my list. i honestly didn’t know much about it and just put it on because it is a top college

congrats on USC!! super happy for you! I'm in a similar boat where I'm thinking about transferring out of Purdue next year and going to cali where I'm from (goal is to get into Berkeley Haas). Do you have any advice regarding the best EC's & projects to pursue as a business major to bolster my transfer app? Also, any advice on staying on top of the application timeline would be much appreciated!
@TiffanyBlueeАй бұрын
thank you :) the UC timeline is much earlier, and their applications are due December 2nd. I would make sure to join business clubs and also take classes that are able to transfer as credit if you can! But it is really important to keep up your GPA and do the best that you can right now! good luck!!
