In this video I’ll talk about the major functions that makes Pro Tools (Ultimate) my go-to when it comes to dialogue editing, and Nuendo (Which is the post production version of Cubase) which is my favorite DAW for creative sound design. Add me on Instagram: KrieSound
0:23 - Why Pro Tools
0:50 - Copy all automations
1:25 - Copy single plugin automations
1:55 - Moving clips with their automations that are on an aux channel
2:16 - Glide automations
3:08 - Why Nuendo
3:19 - Key Commands editor
3:39 - Midi routing
3:51 - Additional features and plugins
4:23 - Exporting individual files
5:06 - Conclusion

I started my journey working with Cubase. Later, I realised that all the major studios are working with Pro Tools, so I started to learn how to use it, so I could be “part of the gang”, and be able to work in those big facilities.
When I switched to Pro Tools, I felt that something was missing. Pro Tools felt really stable and reliable, but it was never quite friendly as Cubase.
Later I found out about Nuendo. Nuendo had all that was missing in Cubase in terms of post production functionality, but with all the advantages that I found in Pro Tools.
I still use Pro Tools and Nuendo. In this video I explain why, and how I choose which DAW to work with, based on the properties and needs of the project.

For me, I would use 3 DAWs. For me, Digital Performer is good for music, Pro Tools for Audio Post, and Reaper for Game Audio.

Thanks for the video. Is there Direct Offline Processing on protools ? (I know audio suite and process but DOP like nuendo ?) because.. automation trick you give are still relevant with DOP ? I can't see how I would edit sound without DOP now. Not only plugins and process is not linked to track anymore (with huge amount of inserts half bypassed or automated through crazy number of unmanagable lanes like noodles) but they are to the clip, but you can also undo some process, change their position... paste them anywhere no regard of crossfades going on. Not to mention keep different DOPS of same clips on alternate version or lanes.. and render them (with handles !) to transfer to mix on other systems nuendos systems wihout same plugs but keeping the events for edit and not burn all tracks... for the smooth automation you do the same in nuendo. I use the range tool with macro and project logical editor in one shortcut. Maybe something faster but mine looks like : copy / paste / nudge start right / nudge end left / locators to selection / PPLE = container is equal event / position is inside cycle / delete.

I think there are more than 1,000,000,000 tools to edit audio, record midi and produce music ... I wish you all that you find the right one. On average, people live to be 79 years old. If you subtract your current age from that, you will know roughly how long you have, to do that.

@@eytankrief497 I guess my point is you have these editing features in Nuendo as well, copy automation, automation follows clip etc...
@eytankrief497
@eytankrief497 3 жыл бұрын
@@alexanderbellizia9762 In nuendo, when you route a track to a group, and automate a plugin that is on the group, you can't copy the group automation just by draging the clip. You have to open all the automation lanes and copy them all. Regarding copy automations, in pro tools you can store the entire automations, on all the tracks in a single point on the timeline with a single click. You can't do that in Nuendo.

@@alexanderbellizia9762 The equivalent of Groups track (in Nuendo) is called Auxiliary in Pro Tools. I mentioned aux channel in 2:02. Maybe I should have mentioned that fact to make things more clear to Nuendo users who never dealt with a pro tools session. Thanks for pointing that out!

How do you glide automations in Nuendo?
@ATropicsCompany
@ATropicsCompany 2 жыл бұрын
@@eytankrief497 it's all possible with Nuendo's Automation Panel. And most features can be assigned to a key command too. It has a few differences but from my perspective to the better, since you can keep a log or list of automation bulks. If you want me I can spare a few minutes whenever you want and I can show you over zoom or something.

No, I would just mix them as they are. But if the computer can't handle the instrument tracks, it would be a good idea to bounce them.
