You are absolutely correct. Without trying to plug, I am the director of an independent motorcycle retailer, we will never charge admin, the sales get no commission so no pressure as it's their job to serve you the customer and make sure you are happy. The motorcycle trade is in a dreadful state at the moment and we need to work with the customer in order to survive,,,not stab him in the back with BS

All are owned by us so no loans or stock plans, everything is ours to sell so customers can have confidence we won't be closed the day after we take a deposit. Integrity is sadly missing in these times but we try to be fair and don't have high margins on bikes.

I read somewhere that a good salesperson isn't selling the bike or car in the showroom on that day, they should be looking at selling every car or bike the customer buys in the future. In other words, provide a service which is so good the customer will always want to buy their next bike or car from that salesperson forever more. Its a great way of looking at things. Sadly, not in this case. As for for the £199 admin fee... Not a chance!

We collectively need to refuse this introduction of “Admin Fees”. It’s a common practice in the US and if it gets a foothold here it’ll be a nightmare. Over there they even charge admin, prep and dealer fees over and above the MRSP on new bikes - can you believe that!!! Just refuse to pay them, if they won’t concede walk away.

All you say is 100% true, but unfortunately, completely impossible to avoid due to all the enabler buyers who are either not smart enough to realize or have enough money to not care they are being fleeced. Here in Canada, if you told a Dealer that you didn't want to pay any extra fees and so on, they would laugh in your face and tell you to get out of the way because there was a line up of people willing to pay them. This isn't even counting the obscene practice of inflating prices by thousands of dollars in the first place, because of all the people willing to sign for 80 month loans, lol.

This is a problem in the Unites States as well. I will not pay exorbitant fees and put up with bait-and-swtich tactics. I'm lucky in that I have a trailer, so I can go to dealerships outside of my local area. I went out of state for my last new purchase for this very reason. Voting with your wallet is effective. That £199 admin fee sounds like "Superbike Factory". My brother was offered the same as you a couple of years ago but when he went in to sign up for the bike they retracted the extra £100 knowing he had fallen for the bike... So beware... Also if you buy the bike over the phone you may find some figures get mixed up and the original sales advert is changed or not there anymore, so always take photos of the advert you want to contact them about beforehand.

Yes, it does sound like them. Another reason that I would never buy from them is that they have totally screwed up Autotrader if you are looking for a bike with DCT. You cannot filter on 'DCT' when searching for a bike because their copperplate advert blurb includes reference to DCT whether it applies to that machine or not. Also their definition of 'full service history' is nowhere near as rigorous as mine!

I had a similar situation - a bike advertised in MCN. at a local dealers. I rang up - yes still available - when I got there the price ticket was £250 more (this was 30 years ago - so very significant increase!) and the advert "must have been a misprint". The arrogant young salesman would not budge and he he lost the sale, of course. It was most satisfying to see that the bike remained in the showroom for over 12 months before the "screen" price was dropped and it got sold.

I owned a Emperiale for 3 years. It was a great bike. Brilliant build quality, I only kept mine under a bike cover and when I traded it in lately there wasn't one bit of rust anywhere on the bike, not one. The 21 bhp was more than enough with a good good bit of torque even in 6th at 60/65 mph. Strongly built bike and with a lovely smooth gearbox.

Trouble is, sometimes they're legit & genuine. Docs & hospitals for example, but others too. I don't think I'd give my number to a dealer until I was at a stage where they definitely needed it. And if they started mithering me like it sounds Willie here got, they'd get a "don't call me, I'll call you" reply. And if they still took no notice - the next time it happened I'd be be excruciatingly polite to the individual but make it VERY clear what would happen if it continued. Actually, it's what *wouldn't* happen ...

I change my phone number with each new phone because every time I purchase something that requires a phone number, I strongly suspect numbers and other details are sold on. Perhaps not by the business owner, but by employees earning extra income. Nothing else can explain the gradual accumulation of calls over the life of the phone, none of whom know me but have my number. When I get a new number, those calls disappear. That's why I block everything nowadays.

I don’t begrudge a dealer making a profit, but the fees do get to be a bit ridiculous and they can vary considerably between dealers. It wasn’t like you were twisting his arm for additional discounts that he was trying to accommodate. He was just being a PEST. Would turn me off for sure. I hate the feeling that a salesperson is “trying too hard” and I think we ALL know by now when we’re being manipulated! Say,the only time I really notice the variation in the green of your Kawa is when you point it out!😂 It’s a beautiful bike!! And I’m sure that metallic paint changes at different angles in sunlight, so certainly no worries on the color!!👍👍

Willie. I had a Benelli Imperiale, in silver, the quality was impressive, it was defo better than the old RE500. The only issue I had was a front wheel puncture, which was fun! Not the bikes fault, of course. 😁 I did ride it in winter and it still looked great, no furry nuts, no rust, and of course, the exhaust is stainless too. I just wish they did one with another 10 hp, but even without that, it was a great bike for pottering about on.

I understand that there are costs associated with the running of any business and any activity undertaken within it, but to charge it separately as an admin fee is ridiculous, dealership costs need to be included in the advertised price. If you go to a supermarket you don't get charged a separate fee for the staff putting the stock on the shelves, the checkout staff or hire of the trolley!

You do, however, get charged for preposterous things such as "sugar tax" in places like Burger King ( 🤮) if you prefer a Coke without dodgy chemicals in it. That was in a motorway services stop when I only went in because nothing else was open. It was also the last time I ever spent any money there - I mean, the "food" was overpriced and pretty disgusting and to see that (hidden) nonsense tacked onto the ridiculous bill, after I've paid, is an outrageous practice.

There was terrible statistic going around a few years ago that it took 7 contacts to make a sale and motor dealers lapped that up. It's a no-loss situation for them - if you buy a bike, great, and if you don't then they've lost nothing in making the attempt

The best way to buy a bike, automobile, rv etc is to always tell the dealer that you just want one out the door price and try to visit three or four dealers and ask for the same thing. I don't care what their adm fee is because it's all profit to them. Same thing if you have a trade, don't care what they give me for the trade or how much they ask for the new vehicle, JUST want the bottom line please.

I have a benelli imperiale. They are perfect bikes for countryside riding. They look great, sound great, and have plenty of pops & burbling from the exhaust. In my opinion slightly better looking than the RE 350. Every single time I go out for a coffee someone will say " oh I thought that was a well looked after clasic, nice bike". I think more people comment on it as very few on the road compared to the more common RE. Those who say oh its made under licence in China, so? RE are made in India so is 90% of all your electrical appliances in your house made in China? It's a very out dated statement now.

@2wheeledwillie395 I understand that, but most dealers will operate a showroom crm system that all new enquiries will have to be logged into. The sales person will then be tasked with having to do so many follow ups (and these follow ups & outcomes will have to be logged into the system for there manager to review and discuss with the sales person) the other person who called you was probably the manager doing there required manager follow up. Again this will have to be logged into the system also. A lot of companies will operate a rigid sales process that the staff will have to adhere to.

After you’ve shot your video hit edit at the top right. Along the bottom right a logo of a square with two anticlockwise facing arrows will appear. Click on it. Then, back in the top left is a split double triangle symbol with a double ended arrow above it. Click that. It will flip the video around to give a mirror image. Just click ‘Done’ in the bottom right and you literally are done. PS This works on my iPhone, other phones maybe not. Hope that helps 🤞

Has for the string I use old hand towels cut up wrap it around you exhaust in a cross position plus snd pull with Autosol they will come up like new headers like mine. For me, admin fee chargers equal no sale. I once went to a dealer website that invited people to search used bikes based on budget. I had £5000 to spend, so set that as a maximum. I then found one that i liked for £4999 and I thought "great, I'll give them a call and enquire", only to then be told there is an admin fee. When i challenged them and said what's the point of having such a search facility if the admin fee isn't already included? Rather than answer the question directly, they said it's only a hundred quid on top. I asked them if they wanted to pay said "only a hundred quid" for me, but they just said those are the terms and I said goodbye! The price you see is the price (MAXIMUM price!) that you should pay, with NO small print. If the motorcycle dealers are truly struggling, then I genuinely suggest they dump this crap idea ASAP!

Admin fee's .... pi££ off. I'm not paying to have the privilege of having YOU sell me a bike. Same with preperation fee's. No mate. you either clean the bike and give it a basic service to make it look nice and ensure the new owner wont have any problems ... or you dont. Which will effect how much I'm willing to pay for that particular machine. I've walked on sales twice now right at the last minute when they've tried this on. After seeing they would lose a sale they try and waive the fee's but the damage is done. I just go elsewhere. I will not support dealers who do this. I take it personal. Theyve just wasted my time, and I wont be back.

I used to charge a small admin fee because back in the day we had to take time out to go to the post office, with all our v5s or to pay for road tax, given that it's all done online now if there is an admin fee it should be minimal. In reality though this is a made up charge what they can waiver in order to make a sale seem a better deal for the customer.

These "fees" are nothing more than zero value packs and do nothing more than line dealers' pockets with customers' money. It's vacuous money for nothing. Also, high pressure sales is not good salesmanship. If the product is good, high value and priced fairly, it will sell itself. My local Yamaha dealer simply answers my questions and tells me to take my time in making a decision. They are a very successful dealership. They enjoy working with informed, value-driven customers and it shows.

The admin fee reminds me of the late Mel Smith talking about charges saying gotta have a nice drink, waggling his hand. Might have been in character as some dodgy estate agent? The reality of these "admin fees" is that it shows that dealership in a very poor light. Probably best to avoid buying from them.

I have stopped buying bikes from dealers. Find a nice bike private sale have a chat with owner do your due diligence and prob will get a bit of money off. Admin fee is scam.

Willie I bought a imperiale in 2021 I loved it and regret selling it but I bought it to flip it but miss it I’d defo buy one. I now have a Benelli TRK 702x the brand is very good.

WOW, talk about a pushy sales crew. Like you, I feel for employees in the motorcycling industry. Our governments aren't making life any easier with the taxes and regulations driving up the price of motorcycles over corporate and local dealership's profit margin. I've bought several bikes from my local dealership, and given them service work, but they don't take trades and that really bites me a bit. I'm a consumer, not a bike dealer. It's a shame, they have a Kawasaki Z650RS for $5999 US right now. Not in the color I'd want, but I could have it painted like the bike you're talking about. I've never seen those cleaning ropes either, mighty handy!

Admin fee's are usually for people who are getting a loan off dealer to buy bike. Sounds like they trying to make it sound they giving you a deal by knocking Admin fee off which shouldn't be there in first place. Also it a shame he was so pushy to sell bike & hope he doesn't go bust but also improves his sales approach in future.Sometimes a video or a critique can help them change approach for the better.

Back in the (long ago) day I often went to That London to see top line bands, even at the Royal Albert Hall. We bought our tickets at the ticket office on site, job done! These days apparently you have to buy a ticket and you are charged a "booking fee". No, sorry, I will buy a ticket for something I am interested in, which isn't much TBH, but if you start talking about a "fee" on top (for what???) you can forget it! This dealer is being well cheeky by adding a fictitous fee on top and then using it as a bargaining chip by removing it.

That fire wood won't last long. Here in Canada it takes 3 to 4 cords of hardwood to heat a house for the winter with an air tight wood stove and one cord of wood is a stack 4 feet wide by 4 feet tall by 8 feet long. Glad your enjoying the wood burner. I have an open fireplace that we enjoy during Christmas but it horribly inefficient. I know that the dealers ae desperate and it's a shame they are going through this but I have to agree that harassing customers will not make thing any better. Cheers: BJ

Back in 1979 when I bought my first BeeEm from Hugh Robinson, this sort of behaviour, by a member of the sales team would have been impossible! I subsequently bought a second bike, a mate bought one too and Greg took us out for a ride in the hills in a Subaru rally special. Great dealership - THEN!!! Friendly, family, gentleman dealership and a professional crew. I'm guessing that Robinson's must NOW be owned by one of the big chains, that does not give a single solid sh1t about customer service and loyalty
