Why I won't be traveling to play the FFTCG ever again

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the game. I've been playing it for some years now and have made Nats semi-regularly so I'm pretty familiar with how the competitive scene operates. I absolutely understand that cliquey feeling from the "big" teams that travel to all the events and seemingly always end up in the top cut and what not. The BO1 format is really not my favorite, and you are 100000% correct in how people are always scouting other players and telling their teammates the matchups. It's extremely frustrating, and even more so when you are in that match and the person across from you is calling out your moves beforehand because they assume they know the list you're playing. In Raliegh specifically last year I had a match in top 8 and my opponent was saying out loud how certain plays I made were bad as I made them, which got on my nerves and took the fun of being in top 8 out of it (I lost the game btw). I'm a veteran and can be pretty brash so I had no problem letting him know to keep it buttoned up and shut it, but I've had friends who have bad anxiety deal with similar attitudes from players and it really got to them to the point of tears afterwards. It's considered sportsmanship in this game to get any kind of advantage you can over your opponent, to the detriment of the game being played. With all that said, there are still a good amount of people who play the game that are as friendly as can be, even at the "higher levels" of the competitive scene and don't act like that and I hope that if you do one day go to another event that you'll have a run in with those people. When it comes to official support for this game, especially with the promo kits there is none. Finding promos in this game isn't even worth it honestly. I just consider myself lucky when I find the random one here and there.

4 minutes in, honestly the thing that got me is promos, we can get some promos, sure!... but big ticket promos like Vanille, Lightning (I/L), Ama, Cuchulain, and Madeen? Nothing. My friend and I saw a Florida store post 48 foil Madeens, then a few weeks later go up to 93. 😑 So out of principal we refuse to purchase from them.

I’ve been playing FFTCG since nearly the beginning and many of your complaints are valid. SE doesn’t treat the game like it should and that’s unfortunate. The complaint that is weird to me though is about the community. I’ve played a lot of TCG and FF has by far the best and least scummy community I’ve seen. It’s unfortunate you had that experience but that is not normal from my experience.
